Darkmore Penitentiary (Supernatural Prison for Dark Fae Book 1) Page 18

by Caroline Peckham

I offered her a cocky smile in response, though she didn’t look any more reassured by that. But she should have known I was too good at this to fail her.

It wasn’t long before hands soon groped my whole body and I tried not to think about whether they belonged to Hairy Lip. If my boner had had any dreams of coming back, they were a distant memory now.

“It’s not here, sir,” an officer informed Cain at last.

A beat of silence passed that was wrought with tension.

“Get dressed!” Cain barked and I chuckled, turning around and pulling on my clothes.

Rosa was trying to catch my eye, probably confused as fuck right now. Maybe she thought I’d swallowed it. But I was beyond rooting around in my own shit for the sake of this key. I had too much class for that.

“You’d better check your locker right now,” Cain snarled at Hastings.

“I had it with me, I swear,” he tried but Cain directed him out of the room, refusing to look at him.

Cain surveyed us all through narrowed eyes then pointed to the door. “Back to your cell blocks! You’re all on lockdown for the rest of the day.”

We marched forward and I broke away from Rosa, moving through the crowd until I was behind Cain as he strode along with us. I threw an elbow into the gut of a Lunar Wolf beside him and the fucker shoved me hard enough to knock me into Cain. I used my momentum to twist around and half catch myself on Cain’s waist, my hand slipping into his pocket and hooking the key out.

His fist connected with my face half a second later and I hit the ground.

“Touch me again and I’ll break your legs,” he snarled at me, striding away as the sea of bodies split around me like the tide around a rock. I held a hand to my face with a groan, pushing the key under my tongue.

Rosa appeared, hurrying forward and taking my hand to help me up. I gave her a slanted smile as we headed along with the crowd and she gave me a confused look right back.

We headed down to level four and the prisoners divided off into groups as they were directed towards their cell blocks. Cain led our group to Cell Block D and extended the bridge for us over the void, eyeing everyone closely as we walked across it.

“Everyone in your cells. Inspection in five minutes,” he growled threateningly.

When he found out that Hastings had truly lost his key, he wasn’t ever going to give up looking for it. So Rosa needed to hide it somewhere he’d never find it. Or she was beyond screwed. I was almost tempted not to give it to her for fear of what would happen if she was ever discovered. But I had to have faith in my little pup. She was the strongest Wolf I knew, not that I’d ever admit it to her.

I hurried upstairs with Rosa and she clung to my side, waiting for me to speak as we finally made it outside our cells.

“Where-” she started and I snatched her waist, dragging her against me and pushing my tongue into her mouth.

I groaned deeply before I could stop myself, pushing the key between her lips and lingering there far longer than was necessary as her mouth moved against mine. She was the sweetest thing I’d ever tasted. A mouth I had vowed never to claim. She was all the things I couldn’t have wrapped up into a cocktail of forbidden fruits. Her tongue met mine with hungry strokes and a fire burned at the base of my spine as I fought the urge to drag her into my cell.

I broke the kiss with a tug in my gut, her eyes burning into mine for an endless moment.

“Don’t think into that too much, little pup.” I winked, walking away into my cell as a buzzing noise warned the doors were about to close. She scowled at me before heading into her own cell, unable to say a word to me with the key in her mouth. And thank the stars for that, because there was no way in hell she hadn’t felt how much I enjoyed that kiss.

My hard-on was back in full force. And it was a traitor that was going to meet a swift death. Because Rosalie Oscura was not for me. And she was definitely not for my dick.

Roary headed into his cell without a backwards glance at me and I turned and walked into my own cell too.

My heart was pounding and my lips were tingling with the memory of that kiss. A kiss I’d dreamed of, wished for, ached for more times than I could count. And holy Pegasus shit on a merry go round had it been worth the wait. Every inch of my flesh had come alive with desire for him and I was damn near panting with need.

His teasing rejection had knocked the wind out of me for a moment. But only a moment. Because Roary Night could claim not to want me, but there was no way I was the only one of us who had felt the chemistry in that kiss. By the stars, I could still feel his mouth on mine now and the only thing it left me wanting was more.

Any hopes I may have had that Roary was just an itch I ached to scratch were blasted apart by that kiss. Because now that I’d had a taste of him, I was even more certain than ever that I wanted more. And there wasn’t much in this life that I’d ever desired and failed to get my hands on.

He may have been trying to dash my hopes with that little comment, but I wasn’t buying what he was selling. Because maybe he’d had to kiss me to give me the key, but no way did he have to keep it going for so long. His tongue stayed in my mouth long after that key had passed my lips. Not that I had any complaints about that.

A deep buzz sounded followed by the rattle of the cell door closing behind me, forcing me to focus on what was actually important at the moment.

I quickly grabbed the spare sheet Roary had gifted me and strung it up over my door, making sure that there were no gaps for nosey bastardos to peek through before hurrying across the room to my sink.

I dropped down onto my knees and drew the key from my mouth, putting it in the lock on my left manacle and turning it half way to unleash my magic.

I sighed as power rushed to my fingertips and quickly unlocked my right manacle too.

I could hear the guards searching through the cells on the first floor, hunting every nook and cranny and conducting a repeat of the strip searches already.

My heart was pounding as I hurried to press my fingers against the mortar between the bricks and I exerted my will over it, making it crumble into sand and creating a space.

Footsteps pounded up the metal stairs outside and I stilled for a moment as I heard them coming my way.

“Oh Officer!” Plunger called out in a sing song voice. “I have a confession to make!”

“What?” Cain demanded and I sucked in a breath as his voice sounded from right outside my cell.

  “I may have something I shouldn’t have…in a secret hiding place…” Plunger said suggestively.

“For the love of the stars,” Cain growled. “Hastings! Bring gloves and meet me up on three! You can conduct a thorough search of Twenty Four’s cavities while I supervise.”

I almost laughed in relief as Plunger’s perversions bought me another few moments, but with Cain so close I was afraid he might be listening in on what I was doing.

  “Roary?” I called breathily.

  “Yeah?”

“Tell me what you were going to do to me before we were interrupted in the Mess Hall.”

I waited, hoping he’d catch on and provide the covering noise I needed to finish my work.

“Are you so hot for me you’re touching yourself already, little pup?” Roary’s mocking voice came back after a beat.

“Yes,” I breathed, moaning a little. “Help me finish what you started.”

A moment of silence passed and he cleared his throat.

“Please,” I begged like I would if I was pinned beneath him.

Roary laughed darkly and movement in the corner of my eye made me glance at the grate between our cells as he laid down and looked in at me. I waved my hand at him to encourage him to start talking and he smirked as he gave in to my demands.

“First, I’d unbutton your jumpsuit, real slow,” he said in a low voice which had my toes curling.

“Yes,” I breathed, panting a little as I focused my magic on creating a concealment spell. I’d been pr
acticing damn hard at these and I could make one with such subtle magic that it was practically undetectable. But it took concentration and giving half of my attention to dirty talk with Roary Night was not the ideal level of focus.

“Then I’d run my hands over your body, feeling every inch of you, tasting your lips as I pulled your clothes off, making you beg for more,” Roary said in a dark tone.

“I need more,” I sighed, closing my eyes as I felt out the magic, crafting it perfectly. “Are you hard for me, Roary? Don’t you want to feel what it’s like to be inside me?”

I couldn’t help but peek at him from beneath my lashes to gauge his reaction to my words.

A growl of longing came from Roary in response and his lips twitched as he fought to keep up his part in our game.

“Is that what you want, Rosa?” he purred. “To make me hard?”

“I think you are hard for me, Roary,” I breathed. “I think you dream about me wrapping my lips around your cock just as often as I do.”

“Fuck,” he snarled and I could see him shifting beside the grate from the corner of my eye.

“Try a little higher, Officer!” Plunger called from outside. “It’s right up there!”

I snorted a laugh as I quickly gathered the crumbled mortar into my hands and exerted my earth magic over it, forming it into a lump of clay which would dry quickly. It would feel as hard as the mortar it was replacing if no one looked too hard, but I’d be able to pick it back out again with my fingernails when I needed to.

“Come on, Roary, don’t leave me hanging. Tell me how much you want me,” I begged as I shoved the key back into my manacle and cut off my magic supply again.

He growled and I threw him a look, raising my eyebrows meaningfully until he responded.

“So fucking much. When I get my hands on you properly, I’m going to make you scream my name so loud that you lose your voice,” he swore.

I locked my other manacle and shoved the key into the gap in the wall.

“You’ll be the one screaming my name, Lion,” I promised.

“Don’t try and pretend you aren’t wet for me, Rosa, tell me just how much,” he replied, turning the game back on me.

“I’m so wet for you, Roary,” I agreed breathily, covering the key with the clay I’d made and shaping it to fill the gap between the bricks with my fingertips.

The moment I was done, I dropped down on the floor beside the grate, looking through at Roary with a triumphant grin.

“Are you touching yourself, for me?” he purred.

“Oh yeah,” I agreed with an exaggerated moan as I pushed my hands through my hair and winked at him.

“I want those sheets down!” Cain’s voice came from somewhere outside and I bit down on my bottom lip to stop myself from laughing.

“Come for me, Rosa,” Roary dared, his golden eyes glimmering with heat between the holes in the grate.

I rolled my eyes at him and quickly pushed my hands inside my jumpsuit, driving my fingers down between my thighs and arching my back as I put on a show of moaning for him.

“Open on three, cell twelve!” Cain barked from right outside as I continued to moan for Roary.

Cain ripped my sheet down and I yanked my hands back out of my jumpsuit as he glared in at me, acting like he’d just caught me out.

Hell, I was such a good actress that a blush even came to my cheeks.

The buzzer sounded and my door rattled open as I pushed myself up onto my elbows, biting my lip in an act of innocence. Cain shot into my cell before I could move and hauled me up onto my feet, flipping me around and slamming me against the rear wall face first.

“Hastings! I want you searching cell eleven. And if Sixty Nine still has his dick in his hand then you have permission to use your shock baton on it!” Cain bellowed in my ear.

Roary snorted a laugh from the cell next door as Hastings hurried to comply with his command.

“What’s wrong, Cain?” I breathed. “Are you jealous?”

He snarled in my ear, driving me up against the wall more forcefully, his whole body pressing to mine. The touch of his magic kissed my skin as he threw a silencing bubble over us and he leaned down to speak in my ear.

“If I want a piece of trashy Wolf pussy I can get it easily enough on any street corner in your old neighbourhood. I hear Oscura girls give it up for five auras and beg for more when you’re done with them.”

“Sounds like you have a lot of experience of that, Officer.”

“I don’t need to pay for a piece of ass,” he growled.

“No. That would be too easy for you, wouldn’t it?” I taunted, grinding my ass back against his crotch.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” he demanded.

“That you don’t want it handed to you. You want the chase, the hunt. You want to go after the kinds of women you shouldn’t and make them beg for you before you take them.”

“Is that so?” Cain grabbed my wrists and slammed them against the wall on either side of my head a moment before running his hands down my arms, feeling for any sign of the stolen key.

“I think so. That’s why you want me. Because you can’t have me.”

He growled and the sound of it rumbled down my spine where his broad chest was pressed against me and ran all the way to my core. I was playing with fire when it came to him, but sometimes I wanted to know what it would feel like to get burned.

“You’re forgetting something, Twelve,” he said, speaking right into my ear as his hands slid over my body and he continued to search me. “I already have you. The Warden assigned you to me. Your ass is mine.” His hands gripped my ass as he said that and he squeezed firmly enough to make me gasp.

“You don’t own me, Cain,” I scoffed, though my pulse was racing at his words.

“Maybe not,” he conceded, dropping to his knees behind me and running his hands down my legs. As he ran them back up the inside of my thighs, my pulse pounded even faster and he stood behind me again, looking into my eyes as I turned my head towards him with a challenge lighting his gaze. “Yet.”

He shot away from me in a blur of Vampire speed, upending everything on my bunk and the spare one above it and tossing everything I owned all over my cell in a whirlwind of movement.

“Cell twelve clear!” Cain barked as he shot back out onto the walkway and a buzz sounded before my door closed again. He flicked his fingers in my general direction, disbanding the silencing bubble before moving on to search the next cell.

I released a breath and fought hard against the shit eating grin which was battling for control of my features.

Part one of my plan was complete. Now I just had to wait until I could make use of my new toy.

  ***

We spent the rest of the day in our cells. The guards didn’t bother giving us lunch and the dinner they provided consisted of a stale roll and a hunk of raw broccoli which was shoved through our cell doors about ten minutes before lights out.

I’d eaten it anyway. Food was food after all and though my taste buds didn’t think much of the offering, the ache in my stomach was satisfied by it. Well, not satisfied, but quietened for a while at least.

I sat waiting in my cell for hours after darkness had fallen and the rest of the inmates fell asleep. When the sounds of fights and crying faded out and all that was left was the soft rise and fall of heavy breathing, I slid out of my bed and headed to the front of my cell. I twitched the sheet aside which I’d rehung there and looked out at the darkened cell block.

The place was near silent, though I could hear some Fae having sex on the level below mine. There weren’t any guards in the block which was the main thing.

A distant shriek came suddenly from beyond the cell block doors and I stilled as I looked at the thick steel which kept us safe from the Belorian, wondering just how much I trusted the strength of it. When the creature failed to make itself known again, I released a slow breath and forced myself to turn my attention away from the monster which ro
amed the halls.

I slipped across my cell on bare feet, bending down and digging into the false mortar beneath my sink until I managed to dig the cuff key back out.

My heart pounded as I quickly freed my magic before hurrying back to the front of my cell. First, I threw a silencing bubble up around me to hide all sounds of what I was about to do, though I made sure it only worked one way so that I’d still be able to hear anything outside.

I twitched aside the sheet covering my door again and carefully cast a series of detection spells along the walkways and by the cell block door in case any guards appeared. The magic was subtle and near undetectable, but it would alert me if anyone passed through it.

Once I was satisfied that I’d be warned if anyone came my way, I headed back to the sink and started exerting my earth magic on the bricks beneath it, loosening the mortar until I could pull them from the wall.

I worked as quickly as I could, tugging bricks aside until I’d formed a hole which was large enough to admit me. The wall was nearly a meter thick and I kept working until I made it through to the other side.

Adrenaline shot through my veins as I found myself in a cold, dark space beyond the wall and I threw a Faelight up above my head, bathing the area in an orange glow.

My heart pounded as I looked back and forth along the maintenance shaft which ringed all of the cell blocks. A series of thick, black pipes ran along the gap at head height, pumping the Order Suppressant gas into every cell block twenty four hours a day.

The gap was just big enough for me to stand up and the walls pressed close on either side, but I was small, so I could move around easily enough. I couldn’t help but laugh as I imagined Cain’s face if he saw me now. He was so caught up in trying to dominate me that he hadn’t been paying enough attention to what truly counted. And now my plans were really coming together.

I ached to go on, explore more, find my way around in this network of tunnels…but my magic was burning low after forging my way through that wall and the guards would still be hunting for whoever had stolen the key.
