“I don’t have a demon girlfriend,” he growled.

“Ugh, even worse. I bet you don’t even have any hobbies. Can demons have hobbies? Collecting scraps of discarded souls or pretty hell rocks? I bet you don’t even do that.”

With a growl that vibrated through her whole body, Iradon leapt forward and pinned her to the mattress. His hands were on her shoulders, fingers digging into her flesh.

  “I am not boring.”

Jackie blinked up at him in surprise, taken entirely off guard by his sudden move. But she was in too deep now, and she wasn’t about to let him off the hook.

  “Prove it,” she challenged.

Iradon’s dark eyes widened, and then glowed with red flame as he bent his head and pressed his lips against hers in a hard kiss. Jackie squirmed in his grip, but the heat of his lips was intoxicating and she could feel it igniting a flame that rippled through her entire body and left her breathless and greedy for more.

He dragged his mouth away from hers and glared down at her. “Still boring?”

Jackie bit her lip and glared back. “That was just a kiss. Any boring job guy can kiss. You didn’t ask my permission, either. You’re supposed to be my escort… What’s the devil going to say when he finds out that you kissed me.”

Iradon growled deep in his chest and one hand released her shoulder and dragged down her body. His hands were large and caressed her roughly, but she arched into his touch. “What’s he going to say when he finds out that you—”

His hand pushed up her shirt and Jackie was reminded very quickly that she wasn’t wearing a bra. Any thought she’d had about how his hands would feel on her bare skin was instantly dashed as his palm rubbed over her breast. His skin was hot. Almost unbearably so and she gasped aloud.

“What’s he going to do when he finds out I did this?” Iradon growled. He bent his head and licked her breast, suckling her nipple into his mouth. Jackie cried out in a mixture of surprised pleasure and pain as the heat of his mouth lanced through her body.

Iradon’s hand kept her pinned to the mattress as his mouth roamed over her chest, teasing and setting her body alight with his touch.

His kisses burned like fire and she couldn’t get enough of it. She writhed beneath his onslaught. She was panting with desire when he lifted his head to look at her. Red flame glinted in his eyes and she rolled her hips toward him, daring him to keep going.

“What’s your boss going to do if he finds out that I want to fuck you?” she gasped.

Iradon growled again and placed his hand on her waist. His fingers slid inside the waistband of her jeans and worked the button fly open with quick motions.

She wriggled out of her pants eagerly and kicked them to the side. She didn’t care that he was still dressed, she wanted to feel the heat of his touch on every inch of her body. Especially her pussy. That burning heat would feel so good inside her—but how could she crave something she had never experienced before? Too many details. Too many thoughts. It had been a while and she was desperate to chase the climax he’d started building inside her in any way she could.

His fingers pressed down on the edge of her panties, and she bit her lip as he stroked her pussy through the soaked cotton. She moaned and pressed the back of her hand against her mouth as he released her shoulder and slid his other hand down her body. He pinned her to the mattress again, but this time the weight was on her hips and she tried desperately to lift them up toward him.

  “Too eager,” he murmured.

Jackie moaned again as his fingers pressed against her swollen clit. “Can you blame me?”

Iradon lowered his head between her thighs and Jackie gasped aloud as he pulled her panties to the side and buried his face in her heated pussy. The heat she’d felt from just the touch of his hands had been enough to soak her panties straight through, but the feel of his mouth on her pussy was something else entirely. Pure fire radiated and rippled through her body and she convulsed as his tongue worked at her clit.

She didn’t know if she was crying out in pain or in pleasure, but they were one in the same, and she wasn’t sure if anything mattered anymore. Her eyes rolled back and her body shuddered and quaked, torn in two by the sensations that shotgunned through her.

  Unbearable.

  Unbelievable.

  Addictive as hell.

If she could have felt like that with every guy she’d had sex with, she’d never leave the bed. Ever.

My god, what was it going to be like to fuck him?

The thought careened through her senses and she felt an impossible tightening in her stomach as Iradon released his hold on her hips and slid first one, and then two fingers into her pussy. She cried out, desperate with need as he sucked harder on her clit and growled against her tender flesh.

“Please,” she panted. “Oh fuck, please…”

She heard the click of a belt buckle and almost cried with anticipatory hunger as his fingers withdrew from her soaking pussy. “Yes, oh fuck, yes…”

Iradon raised his head and Jackie had to blink to clear the blur from her vision. “Do you want to find out what it’s like to fuck a demon?” he growled as he shifted his weight.

“What’s your boss going to do if he finds out that you fucked his bride,” she gasped.

Iradon’s jaw clenched and Jackie felt the tip of his cock press against the slick entrance of her pussy. “He’s not going to find out.”

She tilted her hips to urge him forward and brought a leg up to his hip. “I don’t care if he finds out,” she whispered.

Iradon’s hips flexed forward and Jackie cried out in victory as his cock slid inside her. He grunted and then growled before tightening his grip on her hips. “I don’t care either.”

“Kinda thought you’d want to do it doggy style,” she gasped as he slid his cock deeper inside her. The heat of his cock burned her from the inside out, threatening to leave her a smoking pile of ashes, but she didn’t care. She wanted it. She wanted it so badly.

“Shut up,” he growled. Jackie laughed and tightened her legs around his hips, pulling him forward. He grunted and shuddered briefly as the full length of his cock was buried to the hilt inside her.

Jackie’s breath was coming faster and she closed her eyes as she tried to focus on the heat that radiated from him. Her body soaked it up and wanted more as she moved against him, urging him to do something.

  “Just— Wait—” he choked out.

Jackie paused and laid a hand on his chest. “What’s wrong?”

  “Nothing—”

Jackie chuckled and then moaned as he moved slowly, shifting his weight again. “Never been with a human before?”

  Iradon shook his head.

“You’re going to have to get used to it,” she teased him as she moved her hips again.

Iradon’s lips crashed against hers as he started to move. He worked slowly, with measured strokes, each one deeper than the last, leaving her gasping for breath and begging for more with her cries.

Her fingernails raked down his back as she pulled him closer. He was still dressed, and had only unbuttoned his jeans to release his cock, and she was still wearing her shirt and panties, but she didn’t care, she just wanted him to fuck her as hard as he could.

“Harder,” she panted against his neck. “Please. Fuck me straight to hell.”

Iradon’s growl rippled through her, almost overpowering the heat of his cock as he thrust into her, harder and faster. She clung to his shoulders and allowed herself to be carried away by the sensations that pounded through her body.

The orgasm that had been building since he’d first kissed her wound tighter and tighter inside her, and with every thrust it threatened to break and shatter her consciousness into a thousand tiny pieces.

Her body began to tremble, and his thrusts became faster as he pulled her leg from his hip and lifted it to his shoulder. She let out a cry of surprised pleasure as she felt him thrusting even deeper inside her, pushing her orgasm to th
e breaking point until she couldn’t take it anymore.

She bit down on his shoulder and screamed out her climax against his heated skin while he thrust into her again, and again and then groaned into her hair as his own body convulsed.

Jackie held onto his shoulders, shuddering and limp as he withdrew and stretched out beside her on the bed. “What the hell was that,” she gasped.

Iradon smiled and she saw a flash of sharp teeth. “Still think I’m boring?”

She shook her head dumbly. “Not bad for a ‘job guy’.”

Iradon groaned and wrapped his arm around her waist to pull her against his chest. “You talk too much.”

  “I’ve been told that before.”

  “Mmhm.”

“Why is your skin so hot?” she whispered against his chest.

  “I’m a demon…”

  “Right.”

Iradon snapped his fingers and the room went dark. “Neat trick,” she murmured.

“I’ve got a lot more up my sleeve.”

  “I bet.”

The green light of the lantern burned in the darkness, and Jackie tried to focus on it as her vision blurred again and she gave herself over to the pleasurable throb of her body, and the heat of Iradon’s touch.

  “Wake up.”

  “Huh?”

  Jackie rolled over and groaned.

Her whole body ached. It really had been a while since she’d gotten laid.

  “Wake up!”

Her eyes flew open at the sound of Iradon’s strangled shout. She sat up in bed and pushed away the tangled blankets. “What… what is it? What’s wrong? What time is it?” She pressed a hand to her forehead and looked around for the digital clock.

“It’s five am,” she muttered. “Do we have to leave already?”

  “The lantern,” Iradon growled.

  “What about it?”

  “It’s gone!” he roared.

Jackie rubbed her face and pushed herself off the bed. Her legs were unsteady and her thighs ached. The dresser beside the television was empty.

“So? It’s gone… problem solved. Now you can take me home.”

Iradon rubbed his hands over his face and groaned. “Have you been listening to me at ALL?”

  Jackie shrugged. “About what?”

“The lantern is tied to you. If you’re away from it for too long, you’ll get sick— Why can’t you understand that?”

  “Because it’s ridiculous,” she snorted. “I need a shower…”

Iradon paced the carpet, his face red with anger.

“Where did it go?” she asked tentatively.

“That bastard took it,” Iradon snarled. Jackie could see his fangs, sharp and white.

  “What bastard?”

  “The goddamn cat!”

Jackie backed toward the bathroom. “Okay… I’m just going to take a shower, and then we can go and look for him.”

“He could be anywhere!” Iradon raged as he paced and Jackie’s heart began to beat a little faster.

“I’ll just be a few minutes… I have to wash… demon sweat off me,” she muttered.

“No time!” he roared. He threw the window open and black smoke burst around him as he shifted into his hellhound form.

Jackie pressed herself against the wall as the snarling black dog launched himself out of the open window.

  “Hey!”

  So much for a shower.

Jackie ran over to the bed and struggled into her jeans and boots. She unlocked the door and charged after the dog. “Hey! Wait for me!” she shouted.

She could see him just ahead of her. The dog paused and sniffed the air before dropping his massive head and sniffing the ground. He growled loud and deep and then took off running. He turned a corner and darted toward the alley behind the diner they’d eaten at the night before.

The diner was open, but almost empty. A few bleary-eyed truckers downed coffee at the long formica counter and Jackie ducked down to stay out of sight as she ran past.

“Wait for me,” she hissed at the dog.

“Quiet,” he growled. Jackie skidded to a halt and stared at the dog.

“You can talk?” she whispered loudly. “Am I going insane?”

“Of course I can talk. You said the cat talked to you.”

“Sure, but I thought I’d hit my head too hard. I’m still not sure that this whole thing isn’t some messed up concussion induced hallucination.”

  “It’s not.”

Iradon turned back toward the alley and stalked forward. His growl echoed in the alleyway and goosebumps rippled up and down Jackie’s arms. “What are you looking for,” she whispered.

The dog didn’t answer, and Jackie crept forward, trying to stay behind him as he moved slowly through the alley. It was darker behind the diner, and the brick walls were wet with moss and condensation. It stank of garbage and rotting cardboard and she wrinkled her nose slightly as the scent hit her full in the face.

  “Gag,” she whispered.

Iradon growled and darted forward, his shoulders knocked against the metal trash cans, and they rattled loudly. A shrill hiss and the yowl of a cornered cat filled the air and the lid of one of the trash cans fell to the concrete with a crash. Jackie jumped back as a large black cat leapt up from behind the trash cans to the edge of an overfilled dumpster. Its back arched as it hissed loudly at Iradon. The hellhound emerged from the trash cans, hackled raised and teeth bared. He barked once, deep and threatening at the cat.

The cat’s tail lashed the air and it struck out with one of its paws, vicious claws extended. Iradon dodged to the side, but the cat’s claws raked across the dog’s muzzle and Jackie cried out and then covered her mouth as the cat looked at her. Its ears flatted to its skull and it crouched, ready to pounce, but before it could launch itself into the air, a cloud of black smoke erupted around the dog and Iradon stood in the alley, large and imposing in his black leather jacket.

He reached out and grabbed the cat by the scruff of the neck and held it tightly as it hissed and spat and tried to claw him.

“Where’s the lantern, Admar?” he shouted in the cat’s face.

If Jackie hadn’t known what was going on, the whole scene would have looked ridiculous. Some guy yelling at a cat he’d caught in a dumpster in an alley behind a diner.

The cat swung for him again, but Iradon growled at him and the cat hung limply in his hand. “Tell me where it is!”

Jackie walked forward slowly and then paused as she saw a green glow from behind the dumpster. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” she muttered. She dodged around Iradon and squatted down to peer into the darkness. “Ugh.”

She placed one knee reluctantly on the ground and reached behind the dumpster. Wedged between two cinder blocks, the lantern’s green glow gave away its location. Her fingers brushed against the handle and she grunted as she leaned farther forward and grabbed hold of it. “I’ve got it!” she said triumphantly. She tugged on the handle, but the lantern didn’t move. “Sonofabitch, come on!”

She pulled harder and then fell backward as the cinder blocks moved and the lantern came free. Sprawled in the mud, Jackie groaned and lifted the lantern for Iradon to see.

He bared his teeth at the cat in his grip and the cat’s ears flattened as it hissed in his face.

“Your breath is terrible,” he snarled.

“So is yours,” the cat snapped back. “Now put me down.”

“No way,” Iradon said. “You have some explaining to do. Why the hell did you take the lantern? Why are you following us?”

Jackie scrambled to her feet. “And why did you lead me to the goddamn thing in the first place? I’m not fit to be chosen for anything! Especially this bullshit! And now I’m covered in alley dirt and I smell like a garbage bag!” Iradon’s mouth twitched in a smile and Jackie glared at him. “Don’t you say anything,” she snapped and then pointed at the cat. “You, start talking.”

The cat let out a heavy sigh. “This probably isn’t
the best place—”

Jackie looked over Iradon’s shoulder toward the diner parking lot. He was right, they’d made a lot of noise at a really strange hour of the day, and it would be really hard to explain any of it if someone came to check on the garbage cans.

Iradon muttered something Jackie couldn’t hear, and the cat let out a strangled yowl and contorted in his grip.

“Hey!” Jackie cried out, “don’t hurt him!”

“I’m not,” Iradon snarled. He resumed his muttering and the cat whined again as its body twisted and its paws twitched convulsively.

Jackie shifted her weight on her feet nervously. “Are you sure?”

The cat opened its mouth and a plume of black smoke roared out, hiding Iradon from her sight for only a moment, and then began to clear. As the smoke faded away, Jackie saw another man standing with Iradon. A familiarly smug face that she had seen in her dream when she had first hit her head in the graveyard.

“That was you!” she cried out. In the graveyard! You bastard!”

“Guilty as charged,” he said with a grin.

Iradon held the collar of the other man’s jacket in his fist, and he jerked it roughly, making the man stumble.

  “Hey!”

Iradon growled at him and the man flinched. “Jackie, meet Admar, my least favorite hellcat.”

Admar waved sheepishly and winced again as Iradon turned to stride away through the alley.

“Hey! Where are you going?” Jackie whispered loudly. She tightened her grip on the lantern and ran after them.

“We need to find a car,” Iradon said sharply.

Jackie looked down at her stained jeans and the dirt on her hands. “Um… Unless you missed it, I need a shower… And a change of clothes.”

Iradon gritted his teeth but didn’t argue with her. He dragged Admar alongside him and headed back toward the motel.

“We have to be out of here quickly,” he said as he pushed open the room door. Jackie scurried inside and went straight for the bathroom.

She paused at the door. “What am I supposed to do about clothes?”

Iradon shoved Admar down into a chair. “What?”

“Clothes?” I need new jeans… or something.”
