Damn. This whole living-in-the-moment philosophy was quite attractive. I grabbed a pillow and propped up my head so I could watch the show.
“I love that smile.” She smiled back at me and licked her lips. The sight of her pink tongue was my undoing.
“It’s all yours, baby,” I said before losing all of my faculties in mindless pursuit of an earth-shattering orgasm like I’d never known possible.
Hours later, while we lie on the floor in the sitting room with Prudence and her puppies, listening to Siouxsie and The Banshees and drinking some of Dinah’s homebrewed organic tea, I couldn’t help but think to myself how sometimes even the most emotionally eviscerating experiences can come with a silver lining, as long as you’re open to the positives.
These girls didn’t know it yet, but they were passengers on this new leg of my journey, and I intended to keep them close for safekeeping. It was time this flygirl settled down and started a family of her own; a family that included a retired Air Force pilot with a new mission, a gorgeous bombshell bent on saving all the furbabies possible, and a tough little mutt with precious cargo. Who could ask for anything more?
