“I’m fine, the asshole just kissed me and wouldn’t stop even though I was shoving at him.”

“What the fuck, Cora?” Mitchell hisses, pushing up from where Huck dropped him to the floor. “What the hell are you doing with this neanderthal again? We’re engaged for fuck’s sake.”

“We’re not engaged, asshole; we broke up months ago.”

“I was fucking you three weeks ago,” he shrieks, his voice nasally as he grips at his bleeding nose.

“Shoving your dick in me is not the same as fucking. Fucking suggests both parties got something out of it, and that’s never been the case with us. You got off, I didn’t—as usual—and the only reason I let you near me was because you waited until I was drunk off my ass before you offered to help me get home.”

“You love my dick,” he says, grabbing at his junk with the hand that’s not holding his nose.

“No sweetie, you love your dick, but unfortunately if your hand isn’t wrapped around it, you have no idea what to do with it. Go away, Mitchell, and stay away. I’ve tried to be nice and not hurt your feelings, but honestly, you just won’t take the hint. I’m with Huck now and he makes me scream. He makes me come so hard and so many times that I actually beg him to stop because I’m sure I’ll die from the pleasure. You never made me orgasm, not even once. Leave me alone, okay, I’m happy and I want you to be happy, but that’s never going to be with me.”

Huck curls his arm around my waist and pulls me back into his chest, not saying or doing anything except supporting me, while I finally tell my pain in the ass ex in no uncertain terms that I’m not interested.

“I don’t know why you’re acting like this, babe, we’re perfect for each other. I think this,” he motions between me and Huck, “Is you just acting out because you’re scared about taking the next step with me, and when we get married you’re going to regret this little fling with him. But I’ll forgive you, because I love you and I know that we’re inevitable. See you later.”

“Are you fucking kidding me,” Huck snarls, moving to barge past me when I grab his arm and keep it wrapped around my waist.

Noticing my hold on Huck, Mitchel sniffs haughtily, then with a final glare at Huck over my shoulder he turns and walks away, not an ounce of humility in his retreat.

“That guy is starting to piss me off.”

“Me too,” I agree. “I don’t know what else I can say to him to get him to understand.”

“Maybe me and my brothers could be more persuasive,” Huck growls. “You’re mine.”

Pushing up onto my tiptoes, I spin around and press my lips to his, feeling the barely restrained tension in his muscles. “All yours.”

He takes over the kiss, like I knew he would, and I melt into him, letting him take control, letting him claim me.

“Forget about him, I’m yours and I’m moving in” I laugh, spinning around to look up at him. “So did you get the boxes?”

Holding me tightly to him for a long minute, he slowly releases me and walks back into the corridor. He comes back in a moment later carrying several large flat cardboard boxes. He closes the door behind him, and I follow him into the bedroom where he drops all but one of the boxes to the floor and starts to build the other.

“Joe at the hardware store had these,” he says, pushing the last side into place and then turning the box to face me with a flourish. Eyeing it, I try to figure out what it is, as he opens the front flap and reveals a rail inside. “You can just take the stuff straight out of your closet and hang it in the boxes, then we seal them up and we can collect any that we can’t fit in the car tomorrow.

“Are you serious?” I ask, leaning down to check out the awesome packing boxes. “This is awesome, how many did you get?”

“Seven, if it’s not enough I can always go get some more, although if I leave you here, is there a chance of another of your ex’s showing up and kissing you?” There’s a bite to his words, even though he’s trying to sound amused.

“I didn’t kiss him, he kissed me while I tried to push him off.”

Strong hands grab me and I’m dragged towards him. His lips find mine and this time the kiss is harsh and aggressive, this isn’t claiming… it’s ownership. And because I know he needs this right now, I open my mouth and welcome him.

Growling, he pulls me closer, finding my waistband and shoving his hand inside my pants. His fingers push my panties aside and shove inside my wet but not at all prepared body. I flinch and he immediately slows, finding my clit with his thumb and rubbing circles over it as my body starts to ignite. Arousal coats my core almost instantly and he starts to move, pumping his fingers in and out of my sex and rubbing at my clit, forcing me over the edge into orgasm just to prove that he owns my body.

I cry out against his lips when I come, but before I have a chance to enjoy the high, he’s shoving my pants down to my knees and lifting me off the ground. Pulling one foot free, he presses my back against the wall as he frees his dick and impales me in a single vicious thrust.

My pussy is wet and very willing, and he slides into me with ease as he slams me to the wall each time he fills my body with his. I barely have time to breath before a second orgasm hits me and he follows me over the edge, roughly pumping into my body twice more before he lets out a feral growl and fills me with his cum.

Panting and weak from the pleasure he’s forced from me, I let my head fall forward to his shoulder as he buries his face in my neck, his breath hot against my flushed skin. “You’re mine, Cora, he can’t fucking have you.”

“I’m yours, I don’t want him,” I assure him, trying to soothe the beast.

  “I won’t give you up.”

“I’m not asking you to,” I whisper, pressing a kiss to his shoulder, then his neck.

Slowly, Huck pulls back a little so he can look at me. “Did I hurt you?”

I shake my head. “You made me come twice, sweetie, I wouldn’t want it to be like that every time, but I’m hoping we can do it again at some point. Apparently, I like jealous rage sex,” I smile.

“Fucking perfect,” he whispers, as he kisses me softly and reverently and so at odds with the ownership kiss from only minutes before, that my head starts to spin. “I’m not going to say the words right now, because I don’t want this to be the moment when I tell you them for the first time. But I feel it, so fucking much.”

Biting my lip, I have to swallow down the words to stop myself from saying them back, because he’s right, telling him I love him shouldn’t be in a moment where my stupid ex has any room in our thoughts. “I feel it too,” I say instead, pressing my lips to his.

We spend the rest of the afternoon packing up my apartment and taking as many of my clothes as we can fit in Huck’s car back up to the house before we head to my mom and dad’s for dinner. By the time we’re pulling up outside my parents’ house I’m a nervous wreck, it’s not that I think they won’t approve of Huck, but it’s more that I’m going to have to explain that I not only started dating, but that I’m also moving in with a guy I’ve only been in a relationship with for a week.

Sure, my parents had a whirlwind romance, but they expect me to be a little more traditional and not rush in to potentially life altering decisions. Not wanting to blindsight my mom, I texted her earlier and told her I was dating someone and that I was bringing him to dinner, but I didn’t tell her who or how serious things have gotten between us.

Killing the engine, Huck silently tells me to stay put as he walks around and opens my car door, offering me his hand to help me out. It’s an old-fashioned chivalrous gesture, and I love it. Taking his hand, I step out, then smooth down my dress the moment I’m standing on the sidewalk. While I’m on the verge of a panic attack, Huck is annoyingly calm. To my knowledge he hasn’t been in many serious relationships, so I’m surprised he’s not a little more worried about meeting the parents, but when he wraps his palm around the back of my neck, he’s relaxed as he rubs soothing circles on my skin with his thumb.
r />   Trying not to fidget, I lead the way up the path to my parents’ front door. Reaching for the handle, I bite my lip and try to fight back my nerves, but the door opens before I get near it and suddenly my mom is there, her bright smile wavering ever so slightly as she looks from me, to Huck, then back to me, where she plasters it firmly back in place. “Sweetheart, you look beautiful, why don’t you both come in.”

Huck’s hand is still on my nape and he gently urges me forward. “Mom, you remember Huck?”

Mom’s smile is almost back to normal when she glances up at him behind me. “Of course I do, although I think you were about fifteen the last time I saw you. How are you Huck? Please come through and I’ll make some drinks.”

“Nice to see you again, Mrs. Cunningham,” Huck says politely as we follow my mom into the sitting room where Dad is watching the game on the tv.

“Jerry, sweetie. Cora is here, you remember Huck Barnett, don’t you?”

Dad’s attention moves from the tv to me and Huck, his eyes widening a little in shock as he jumps up and fully turns to face us. “Huck, it’s been a while, nice to see you again,” he says holding his hand out for Huck to shake.

“You too, Mr. Cunningham, thank you for having me for dinner.”

Huck’s words are all politeness, but there’s an edge to his voice that’s daring my parents to disapprove of him. If they do, I have a feeling he’ll be whisking me out of here and back up to the house before I even have a chance to argue.

“Call me Jerry, you a Grizzlies fan?”

“Yes sir,” Huck says, relaxing almost instantly.

My dad immediately starts into a commentary about the game, ushering Huck to sit and watch. Huck tries to pull me with him, but I shake my head. “Sit with my dad, I’ll go get us a beer. Dad, you need another beer?” I ask

“Yes please,” Dad says, and Huck releases his grip on me and settles down onto the couch beside my dad.

When I step into the kitchen, my mom’s waiting for me, an expectant look etched across her face. “Huck Barnett? Your new boyfriend is Huck Barnett, a little warning might have been nice, Cora,” Mom whisper shouts.

“What difference would it have made if I’d have told you?”

“Well, I wouldn’t have made a fool out of myself when my daughter turned up with a man fifteen years older than her.”

  “Thirteen years,” I correct.

“Fifteen, thirteen that’s not really important, what’s important is that he is a lot older than you, Cora.”

“Dad’s ten years older than you.”

“We’re not talking about me and your dad, we’re talking about you bringing home a boyfriend who’s closer to my age than yours.”

Sighing, I cross to the refrigerator and take out three bottles of beer then close it again. Placing two on the counter, I open the third and take a long drink. “I like him.”

  “You like him,” Mom echoes.

“I really, really like him, in fact I think I more than like him. He’s good for me, he wants to take care of me in a way no one ever has before. He’s overwhelming and infuriating and sometimes a little crazy, but he makes me feel more than I ever realized was possible. He makes me understand the way you love dad.”

Her eyes widen, then soften as she watches me. “You love him.”

I nod, my lips clenched tightly together, not wanting the first time I admit it out loud to be to my mom and not to him. “It’s so fast and so cliché, but from the moment he barreled into my life and started trying to boss me around, he changed everything, and even after such a short amount of time I just wouldn’t want to imagine my life without his special brand of crazy in it.”

Mom laughs, her eyes a little glassy. “And the sex?”

  “Mom,” I admonish.

  She shrugs.

  “Unbelievable,” I whisper.

When she smiles this time, it’s so wide I think her face might actually split in two. “I’m happy for you, finding a love like I share with your father is all I’ve ever wanted for you and if Huck is that man for you, then I’ll try not to gawp at how handsome your boyfriend is every time you come for dinner.”

“Mom,” I chide, shoving at her shoulder playfully as I grab the other beers and head back into the living room.

Huck and my dad are happily bonding over sports, so I pass out the beers and move to take a seat at the end of the couch, squeaking with surprise when Huck pulls me into his lap instead. Not arguing, I wiggle a little to get comfy, then turn to watch the game, barely taking any notice when the doorbell rings.

Assuming it’s my brother I don’t turn to look until I hear his voice mutter. “Oh shit.”

At the sound of his curse, me, Huck and my dad all turn in the direction of the doorway and find my brother and Mitchell standing staring back at us.

Huck’s body immediately tenses and I place one hand on his thigh, and the other on the arm he has wrapped around my waist. Mitchell looks terrible, his nose is red and swollen and there are black bruises starting to appear beneath both of his eyes.

“What are you doing here, Mitchell?” I say tiredly.

“I’m here for family dinner,” he says haughtily, glaring at Huck.

“Why? This isn’t your family and honestly, it’s just weird that you keeping turning up here.”

“We’re engaged, Cora, what’s fucked up is that you brought another man here.”

“There is seriously something wrong with you,” I shout. “We’re not engaged, we had a shitty, unsatisfying relationship and I dumped you. The only person who’s talked about us getting married is you, Cam and my dad. If you’d have ever mentioned it to me, I’d have told you it was never going to happen, I’d rather become a lesbian and eat pussy for the rest of my life than end up married to you, so just go away.”

Lifting me off his lap, Huck moves me behind him to where I’m no longer in Mitchell’s line of sight. “Holstead, I thought I was pretty clear earlier that I wasn’t going to put up with this shit any more. Cora and I are together, she’s moving in with me, I plan on marrying her and having as many babies as she’ll give me. You had your chance and you blew it. That’s not my problem, but what is my problem, is when you keep turning up and trying to take what’s mine.”

“She’s not yours,” Mitchell screeches manically.

Huck doesn’t say a word, but his body is rigid and his hands are clenched into tight fists. I try to peer around him, but he holds me back with his arm, stopping me.

“Mitchell, I think it might be best if you leave,” my dad says. “Cora’s made her choice and it’s time for you to bow out gracefully, son.”

“No, no, she doesn’t get to choose someone else, she doesn’t get to dump me. She should be begging at my feet to keep me.”

“Dude, you sound like a psycho,” my asshole brother who’s caused all this drama hisses.

“Fuck you, Cunningham,” Mitchell snarls. “If I leave here, Cora, I’ll never take you back, it won’t matter how much you beg, you’ll have missed your chance. I’m serious. Leave with me now and I’ll forgive you for him, but this is your last opportunity not to lose me.”

Pushing past Huck’s restraining hold, I watch a smug expression bloom on Mitchell’s face. I curling my arm around Huck’s waist, and press myself against him, getting as close as I can while fully dressed, then I look up at my stupefied ex and smirk. “Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.”

Offering a little fuck you wave, I watch as he turns and stomps to the door.

“You’ll regret this, you little cunt, you’ll come crawling back, they always do,” he grumbles before the door’s thrown open, slamming back against the wall as he goes to leave.

Huck’s body becomes as stiff as a board, and he carefully peels me from him and closes the distance between him and Mitchell in an instant. His hand lands on Mitch’s shoulder and I watch my ex flinch. Huck leans down and speaks so quietly to my ex that I can’t hear what he’s saying, but whatever
it is, Mitchell visibly pales before nodding quickly. Huck releases him and Mitchell scurries away, not even glancing back at me.

“Wow, you pick the crazy ones,” Cam says, shaking his head like this is all my own doing.

“You fucking asshole,” I scream, launching myself at my brother. Huck catches me mid attack, scooping me off the ground and spinning me around. I try to duck out of his hold, kicking and batting at him to release me and let me get to my idiot brother.

“Peaches, stop it, right fucking now,” he snaps and I still, glaring daggers at my brother across the room. “Mrs. Cunningham, I think it might be best if we go.”

“Please call me Vivian and no, stay, dinner’s all cooked,” Mom says.

“I’m not sure that’s such a good idea,” he pants, lifting me back up off the ground and slinging me over his shoulder to stop me from trying to kill my brother. “We didn’t have a chance to tell you that Cora’s agreed to move in with me and I would love to have you guys for dinner. How about Sunday night?”

“That would be lovely,” Mom says, her arms wrapped around herself unsurely.

Huck carries me towards the front door, pausing by my brother. “You’re welcome to join us, if you can figure out why you’re an asshole and apologize to your sister before then.”

“Jerry, Vivian, it was great to meet you both, we’ll see you about seven on Sunday.” Then he carries me out the front door while I call my brother every curse word I can think of.

  Huck

This afternoon has been a shitshow of epic proportions. First her ex turns up at her apartment, then at her parents’ house. I’m hoping he might finally have gotten the message that she’s mine and not interested in him, but with that guy, I’m not sure.

After we left her parents, I ordered us a pizza and picked it up on the way home, and now hours later she’s asleep next to me, her red hair spread like a halo across the pillow. Now she’s here, her clothes next to mine in the closet, her things filling our room, I thought this all-consuming need would settle but instead it’s getting worse. I need her tied to me, unable to leave, permanently bound to me. I want a ring on her finger and my baby in her belly and I don’t want to wait for either.
