How to Steal Your Best Friend's Fiancé (How to Rom Com Series Book 2) Page 25

by London Casey

“So they don’t tell everyone how small your dick is,” Jackson said.

  We all started to laugh.

  Cole wanted to fight Jackson.

I stepped away when I got a text from Emily.

It was a picture I was not expecting.

  Her hand.

  Her pointer finger.

A pair of panties hanging from her finger.

And a naughty text telling me she was thinking about me and she had to take her panties off because they were wet.

I had to be careful because I was in the middle of the gym with a bunch of sweaty guys. And I was not wearing the proper attire to try and hide myself as I felt my cock throbbing, threatening to get hard.

I walked from the gym to the locker room.

If Emily wanted to play this game, I had a picture of my own I could send her.

  Chapter Thirty-Six

  Emily

I debated on sending the pic for way too long.

So long that by the time I sent it, I had put my panties back on and went from being a dirty woman to a fun aunt, wearing a crown and a cape that choked my neck as Henley wanted to play castle.

Henley being Henley, she made me be the princess and she was the female warrior coming to save me.

  And those were her words.

  Female warrior.

She said she didn’t need some knight to show up. That girls could save themselves and each other.

All I heard was Elise’s voice as Henley spoke.

Not that it was a bad thing, but I hoped Henley would grow up to know there were good guys in the world. And sometimes getting saved by one wasn’t the worst experience in the world.

I stood on Henley’s bed. Her room was a mix of little girl and defiant young woman. She had lots of pinks and purples. But she also had blacks and blues. She had dolls. But she also had science kits. Like half of her heart wanted to be a little girl and the other half wanted to discover something that would change the world.

  Henley kicked open the door.

“I’ll save you!” she cried out.

“Hurry!” I yelled. “The monster is getting me.”

The monster was a stuffed alligator on the floor. Its marble eyes looking at me. In my head, I had to pretend it was coming to eat me alive.

Henley hurried to the alligator and stabbed it with her pretend sword.

My phone buzzed in my pocket.

It was a reply from Liam for my dirty pic I sent.

When I swiped and his picture reply opened up, I gasped and shut my phone screen off.

“I have to go,” I said. I jumped off the bed. “I have to go pee.”

“You just went like twenty minutes ago,” Henley said.

“Don’t grow up,” I said. “It’s a trap. You have to pee all the time.”

I ran from her room to the bathroom.

I locked the door and looked at the picture.

It was… Liam… but not his face.

  It was his…

  I looked at the mirror.

  My face was bright red.

And I mean bright fucking red.

His cock wasn’t fully hard, but thick enough that…

  I slowly exhaled.

  I bit my lip.

  I texted him back.

Thinking of me? You should keep going…

I had no clue what I was thinking.

I didn’t do the whole dirty texts and pics thing.

  Liam replied really fast.

  Already done, babe. Your turn.

  I smiled.

I looked at the picture again.

My mind. My heart. My body.

I knew what Liam felt like…

I was in my sister’s house. In the upstairs bathroom.

Staring at a picture of Liam’s cock.

The fingers of my right hand twitching…

  Are you touching yourself, Em?

I swallowed hard at the text and used my left hand to reply.

Finishing myself right now… thinking of your big cock inside me…

  “Emily, are you okay?”

Elise flipped her book over and jumped off the stool and ran to me.

  “Yeah, what’s wrong?” I asked.

“You look… flushed. You look flustered. Like…”

  I started to blush again.

I thought I had splashed enough water on my face after my personal time in the upstairs bathroom.

  “I’m okay,” I said.

“She was in the potty for a long time,” Henley said as she walked through the kitchen. “Thankfully it doesn’t smell like when Daddy goes to the bathroom.”

“You sure you’re okay?” Elise asked. “I can tell when you’re lying.”

“If I’m lying, then what was I doing in the bathroom?” I challenged my sister. “Huh? Going through your medicine cabinet?”

“Okay,” Elise said. “You just looked… I don’t know.”

  “Can we change the subject?”

“Sure,” Elise said. “Dan should be home in a little bit. But… sister time here. Jeff talked to him again. He still has that proposal. And he even has-”

  “Elise,” I said. “No more.”

  “What?”

“I don’t want to hear anything about Jeff ever again.”

  “Emily, come on. I’m just-”

“Listen carefully,” I said. “Fuck. That. Guy.”

“You said a curse word!” Henley yelled.

  I looked back and groaned.

Henley was at the fridge, organizing some of her drawings.

“Henley, can you play, please?” Elise asked.

“Why? So Aunt Emily can curse some more?” Henley asked.

“That’s exactly what I need to do,” I said.

Henley giggled and left the kitchen for the den where all her toys were.

“Sorry about the language,” I said.

  “What’s your deal?” Elise asked.

  “Excuse me?”

“You look different. Things are different. What’s going on?”

I took a deep breath. I stepped away from my sister. “I’m doing everything you hate, Elise. And I love it. I’m happy. For the first time in years, I am really happy.”

“That’s great,” Elise said. “What’s making you happy?”

I told Elise everything about the club. The music. Getting on stage and singing. Meeting Carla and Faye (and Robin for a minute). About playing guitar again.

I could tell she wasn’t as excited as I was.

To her, the only path in my life should have been money, a man, and kids.

  “What else?” she asked.

  “Liam.”

  “What?”

  “Liam.”

  “Liam…”

“Liam,” I said. “I’m… I’m in love with Liam.”

Elise stiffened. “Wait. Please tell me you’re not having a fling with an engaged man.”

“Nope,” I said. “He’s not engaged anymore.”

  “Are you kidding me?”

  “No.”

  “Emily…”

  “What?” I asked.

“You can’t see how bad this is going to end, can you?”

  “What is?”

“So this man is engaged for how long? And then suddenly he starts talking to you again and then breaks off his engagement… and you just jump into bed with…” Elise looked up. “Wait. Did you just have phone sex in my bathroom?”

  “What? No.”

“The look on your face… that’s a sex look.”

“I did not have phone sex in your bathroom, Elise,” I said.

But I did stroke my clit for a while as I looked at a picture of Liam’s insanely huge cock…

“So you’re sleeping with Liam then.”

  “It’s more than that.”

  “What is it?”

  “I’m in love with him.”

  “Yeah, you already said that.”

“I’m being serious, Elise,” I said. She tried to
turn away and I grabbed her arm. “Don’t do this.”

  “Do what?”

“Attack me for doing something for myself.”

Elise shook her head. “You stood right there and said you were going to take over the bakery. Do you remember that?”

  I slowly nodded. “Yes.”

“And I told you it was a mistake. I told you it was a money pit. I told you what you were doing with Miranda was a bad idea too. She’s not a good person. Yet you insisted it was okay and it would be okay.”

  “What’s your point?”

“You’re doing the same thing,” Elise said. “Only now it’s with Miranda’s fucking fiancé.”

  “Ex…”

“I can’t believe this,” Elise said.

She walked back to her book.

I took a deep breath. “This was a nice visit.”

“What do you want me to do?”

“How about just be happy for me,” I said. “I’m done being a doormat, Elise. That includes for you too. I know what you want for me in life, but that’s not your call. It’s my life. I found music again. I’m really good at singing. I’m not going to become rich and famous, but why can’t I enjoy it? This thing with Liam… sure, on the surface it looks weird, but I promise you, the way we feel is real. I’m going to get going. I have plans.”

  “With Liam?”

  “Yes.”

Elise stared at me. She swallowed hard. “I just hate seeing you hurting.”

“I’ve made mistakes in my life, Elise. But you have to realize you were lucky when you met Dan. I’m so happy for you two. And all you have. I love Dan. I love Henley. I love you. My path is different but that doesn’t mean you have to push me away.”

“I would never push you away.”

  “You are.”

“I’m sorry,” Elise said. “I sometimes get overbearing. Overprotective. I get scared for you. I shouldn’t. You’re stronger than me, Emily. To take on the bakery. To look yourself in the mirror and want something and go for it. I’m proud of you.”

“Thanks,” I said. “I just can’t be a doormat anymore. That’s my fault. I have to make sure I raise my voice.”

“Hey. Maybe we can come see you sing one of these nights.”

“Yes,” I said. “I’m really good.”

“I know you are,” Elise said. “You used to sing all the time when we were kids.”

  “You said I sucked.”

  “That’s so you’d shut up.”

“You know you can never shut me up, right?”

  Elise laughed. “True.”

“I really do have to get going. Oh, really quick… phone sex isn’t a thing anymore. It’s called sexting.”

Elise stood up and pointed to me. “I knew it!”

I winked and hurried out of the house.

Dan was getting out of his car as I walked down the sidewalk.

“Leaving so soon?” he called out.

“Well, I knew you were home,” I said.

  “Ouch.”

  “Sorry.”

“No, you’re not.” He nodded to the house. “Everything good in there?”

“Your wife is cleaning the upstairs bathroom,” I said.

  “Why?”

I laughed. “Don’t ask. Inside joke.”

“Okay…” He slowly walked to the sidewalk with his bag over his shoulder. “You were walking with purpose there. Everything good with you and Elise?”

  “We’re good,” I said. “And… hey… I need to talk to you.”

  “Ut-oh.”

  “Yeah. Listen. Jeff…”

Dan smiled. “How much of an asshole am I?”

  “A big one.”

  “Too far?”

  “Way too far, Dan.”

“Got it. Not that I need a defense or should have one…”

  “You don’t.”

“I just hate to see you miserable in that bakery.”

“Fucking Jeff isn’t going to fix that.”

“Right,” Dan said. “Do you forgive me?”

“I’ll think about it. I have something for you.”

I walked to my car and gave him a box of cupcakes I had on the front seat.

“Where do you park this thing in the city?” Dan asked.

“The back of the bakery,” I said. “I only ever drive it here.”

Dan opened the lid to the box and smiled. “You put an extra one on top.”

“That’s right. Elise will never know you ate it.”

“You’re the best, Emily,” Dan said.

“I know. So stop trying to get me to sleep with your weird, douchey co-worker.”

Dan stuffed half a cupcake into his mouth and said, “You got it!”

  That launched crumbs at me.

“Wow. No wonder Elise can’t keep her hands off you.”

  Dan lifted his middle finger.

I laughed and got into my car.

I had to get back to the city.

  To get back home.

To get that cock from the picture on my phone inside me for real.

  Chapter Thirty-Seven

  Liam

When I got word that the patent case went in our favor, I grabbed my phone and texted Emily.

It was like second nature to me.

  Was it a big deal?

  It kind of was.

The patent case was directly on my shoulders and we did it. We proved the case and won. Did it matter for my career? I had no idea, and I frankly didn’t give a shit. I was sick of living my life worrying about the next rung of the ladder to climb up when it came to corporate bullshit.

I rattled off a bunch of legal jargon nonsense when I texted Emily.

It was a mild slip of my mind since I was used to texting Miranda, which was always proper and dryer than a desert.

  But Emily being Emily…

I have no idea what the hell you just said, but you won a case, and that’s bitching. Good job. ;)

I laughed and wished she was in my office with me so I could hug her. Kiss her.

  Fuck her on my desk.

Eat her out on the leather couch.

Put her bare ass against the high-rise window as I fucked her again.

The woman made me rage with sexual need I completely forgot could exist.

The only bad part of it… Jackson had been right all along.

I would never tell him that. He’d never let it go if I did.

  Then again, he had Callie.

  I had Emily.

For the first time in a really long time, I felt comfortable.

“Get in the office,” I said to the interns.

I slammed the door after they entered.

“You three worked on that patent case with me,” I said. “Right?”

  The three nodded.

“I just got word about the case,” I said.

  “Oh, no,” Maria said.

“What do you think happened?” I asked.

  “I don’t know,” she said.

“We fucking blew it,” David said.

“Whatever,” Jacob said. “I worked my ass off. If that’s not good enough then fuck it. Fuck this.”

  Jacob stood up.

  “Are you quitting?” I asked.

  “What’s the point?” he asked.

“Wow, you three need to grow some thicker skin,” I said. “We won the case. Everything went in our favor. The powers above us are shitting their pants they’re so happy.”

  “Ew,” Maria said.

“Sorry about that,” I said. “You three did good. Really good. I’m actually going to recommend all three of you for a job. Not sure which area in the company though. But I’d hate to see you leave.”

Maria jumped up. “Are you serious?”

“Yeah,” I said. “But there’s still plenty of time for you to fuck it up.”

  Maria smiled ear to ear.

  David grinned.

  Jacob just didn’t care.

“David,” I said. “Get those files
off my desk and organize them. Maria, there’s another case pending I want you to go through. Find me five reasons why we can lose the case. Jacob… hang back.”

When I shut the door with Jacob in the office, he looked at me like he wanted to hit me.

  “Spill it, kid,” I said.

  “Janelle cheated on me.”

  “Fuck.”

“She slept with some guy she works with. While wearing my engagement ring.”

  “I’m sorry, kid,” I said.

“So you know what I did?”

  “What?”

“I tried to fuck Maria,” Jacob said. “She shut me down. Said I was too depressed.”

  “Wow,” I said. “That’s a tough one.”

“What do I do? I love her.”

  “Maria?”

  “No. Janelle.”

“I…” I looked at my desk. At my phone. I thought about Emily. “Love is a wild thing, Jacob. I can’t tell you to forgive her. I can’t tell you to hate her for the rest of your life. What I can tell you is that plans aren’t worth shit half the time. Things change. People fuck up. It’s just… it’s tough. The hardest part is keeping yourself together and being true to yourself. Now, do you really love her? Do you love her enough to give up everything you have here, love her enough to have her leave her job and you two run off and figure out what went wrong and fix it? Or do you just want to go fuck the first woman that will let you fuck her?”

“I already did that,” Jacob said.

  “I thought you said Maria…”

“Her roommate,” Jacob said. “She liked my nerdy look.”

“Wow,” I said. “How did it feel?”

  “Like hell.”

  “Did you tell Janelle?”

  “Yeah.”

  “Did it crush her?”

  “Yeah.”

“And you want to know why she’s allowed to be crushed when she cheated on you.”

  Jacob kept nodding.

I walked to my desk and leaned against it. “I don’t know, kid.”

“Do you regret this? The job?”

“You’re asking if I missed out on things in life, right?”

  “Yeah.”

“A week ago I would have said yes. Today… what I’m saying is that things work themselves out. We as people have no patience. We know we’re on the clock. Time’s ticking away. Death is closer each morning. All that hippy bullshit, right? But it’s true. We want it all now in case it’s not there again tomorrow.”
