Smuggler's Luck Page 22

by S. W. Gunn

Elyse stopped trying to pull her hand away and squeezed his hand tightly. Right at that moment her father walked into the room.

“I see you are all getting acquainted.” He said.

Uaera spoke up first, “Iaeth it seems as though our guests are quite special.”

Her father paused for a moment before saying, “They told you, did they?”

Uaera nodded before declaring, “This is a wonderful find, imagine how the Green Council will react knowing you have found a focal point.”

Iaeth shook his head and replied, “They were actually quite unhappy with the news. They feel as though having focal points of other races could sway the balance of the galaxy in an unfavorable way. Imagine a Grokmal with the power to use the Gift in the way a focal point allows.”

Jarron could see the logic behind their point. The Grokmal are violent warriors who cared only for domination and war, at least he thought that until he discovered Tiberius was hiring them. Even still they would be even more dangerous if they had the same abilities as Elyse.

Iaeth continued, “However they insisted that I bring both my daughter and her husband to them. Would that be fine with the two of you to meet our leaders?”

Jarron glanced over at Elyse, who nodded in response.

He looked back at Iaeth and replied, “Sure, we’re on our honeymoon so we should go to exotic locations and meet new people.”

Uaera asked, “What is a honeymoon?”

Jarron laughed at the question and after a light chuckle Elyse responded, “When humans get married they go on a vacation to someplace special together just to see new things and places.”

  “Married?” Uaera asked.

Iaeth said something in their language, which Uaera responded to in the same language.

Uaera then said, “I understand. Let us eat and then I will show you both to the guest quarters. Tomorrow you leave for Alathia.”

  Thank you!

I’d like to thank the many people who helped to make this book happen. First and foremost I’d like to thank God. Without the inspiration of our maker I could never write so frequently. As always my wife Parneeta keeps me going even without agents willing to give me a chance. My three little ones, Shawn II, Spencer, and Astir who are the center of my universe. I would like to thank Fajri Muhammad who did the cover art. I would like to thank social media for being so horrible that I had no choice to leave it, along with how much happier I am without it. I would recommend it to anyone to leave. Lastly, but most importantly, you the reader. I wrote this one for you guys and hope you enjoy it! Thank you.
