  UNCENSORED QUOTES OF THE WEEK:

“I pity the fool who took this soap off the air.”

—Whoopi Goldberg on cancelling ONE LIFE during THE VIEW’s tribute to La Lanview

Translation: Yep, my old boss, Brian Frons, is a douche bag.

“It’s been like 100 years… it’s time for them to go; don’t you think?”

—Golden Globe Cecile B. DeMille winner and former ANOTHER WORLD alum Morgan Freeman to me after I asked him how he felt about the death of daytime drama at THE GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS

Translation: I did not have soap opera relations with daytime TV!

“I thought ONE LIFE’s finale was much better.”

—Sarah Michelle Gellar to me after I asked her at the GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS what she thought of AMC’s finale

Translation: I’m so happy I left AMC when I did.

“I do not like that [soaps] are being cancelled.”

—THE HELP’s Golden Globe Award-winning Octavia Spencer to me after I asked her about the death of “our stories”

Translation: I’m sending a special pie to Brian Frons!

“I look forward to collaborating on this new and dynamic character with her on B&B.”

—Chief Brad Bell on absorbing popular Emmy winner Hillary B. Smith as a sex therapist on B&B

Translation: Who doesn’t need a good dose of sex therapy on B&B?

“You know, I’m sure Susan Lucci is happy with her career and the longevity and fulfillment it has given her and that’s sort of how I feel.”

—Meryl Streep answers Ted Casablanca’s stupid question on whether she feels like the Susan Lucci of THE ACADEMY AWARDS

Translation: Bitch, I have two Oscars already!

“It’s really hard to say goodbye to shows that have been a part of television for so long. As a member of DAYS, I meet soap fans every day who talk about what a big part of their life it is and how they watched with their mom and their grandma. Those characters were a part of their family dynamic for their whole lives in some instances. So I know how hard it is for all those ONE LIFE fans right now and how hard it is to say goodbye to something that’s been so close to their hearts. We’re just hopeful at DAYS that we can continue to fight the fight and represent daytime and keep our characters on for as long as we possibly can. We want fans to know that we’re still there and we’re making the best show we possibly can. Hopefully NBC will believe in us and keep us on for a long time.”

—Alison Sweeney in PARADE magazine on the future of soaps

Translation: Thank God for THE BIGGEST LOSER!

“Frank is a force of nature. He’s a go-getter. He gets stuff done. If anyone can make big changes at a show fast, the way that they need to be made, it’s him. And he’s the kind of guy who is both an artist and able to think like a businessman, and that will be really useful. Ron knows how to write to get ratings up, which shows an understanding of what fans will tune in to see.”

—GH’s Lisa LoCicero on Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati’s new reign in Port Chuck in a SOAP OPERA DIGEST interview

Translation: You know, the opposite of Jill Farren Fuck-Up and Garin Wolf. And, besides, it’s not like he would fire me after this interview like he did on ONE LIFE, right?

“It’s kind of unsettling. You get used to something and you get comfortable and gain a certain amount of trust with who you’re surrounded by and who’s running things. It’s like mom and dad are breaking up. The only foundation that you know is gone.”

—Scott Reeves on GH's new showrunners in the same interview

  Translation: I’m so fired.

“She was the villain on the show and didn’t have boundaries.”

—Brandon Beemer on Fary Bjorlin in SOAP OPERA DIGEST

Translation: Now if I could only bury her alive, DAYS-style.

“I’m interested in TV production, so whenever I can, I like to slip into the editing room and look at the equipment. I usually go during lunch.”

—DAYS’s Ari Zucker on the naughtiest thing she does at work

Translation: And I edit myself into every scene on the show!

“I think Frank Valentini is the Jim Harbaugh of daytime. He is kicking ass.

—Maurice Benard on Twitter on his new boss

  Translation: Save my character, Frank!

  SAVE OUR SOAPS

  Targeting Disney Stockholders

Move over, Roxy Balsom! Looks like the movement to save AMC and ONE LIFE has just intensified. On March 13, ABC will hold a regular scheduled stockholder meeting in Kansas, Missouri — and protestors will be there to make their soap voices heard. Moreover, before the meeting takes place, thousands of daytime drama fans are writing letters. File this move under: #FuckUABC

  COVER STORY:

  VICTOR, VICTORIOUS

Trevor St. John on joining GH, keeping daytime’s best-kept secret, and whom Victor loves more: Téa or John!

He’s inarguably the best actor to ever grace Llanview. He’s the sexiest leading man to star on the brilliant ABC sudser. He’s the best recast in ONE LIFE’s storied history. He’s the s
narkiest bastard to visit our small screen each weekday between 2-3 p.m... Oh, and his chest isn’t so bad to look at, either.

Of course I can only be talking about the fearless artist who managed to accomplish the impossible: the soap newcomer captured a cynical audience’s imagination with a brave and inventive re-imagining of one of daytime’s most iconic and controversial roles ever; and effortlessly won over even the more die-hard Roger Howarth fans. And even when the Emmy winner returned to reclaim what was rightfully his, St. John only became more popular with his newly revealed soap identity, Victor Lord Jr.

Which is why it was appropriate that St. John graced the last shot of the 43 year-old soap opera during its final broadcast episode one week ago today.

Some stars do their best acting during interviews. But not Trevor St. John. UNCENSORED caught up with the recently transplanted L.A. star — and press-shy actor — about life, loss and Llanview. Hopefully, this will not be our last interview. Long live, Victor Lord!

Congrats on keeping your ONE LIFE
