The Alpha King and his Human Mate

"Forget formalities," Edric growled and followed the nurse.

She turned to see three huge men following her.

"Sir, I must ask you to stay up front," she replied. "I could lose my job if you come back here."

"You just did lose your job," Edric roared angrily. "Do you know who I am?"

"Unless you own this hospital, then I am going to have to ask you to leave sir," Cassie replied.

"I do own this hospital!" Edric roared.

All heads turned to Edric, and the wolves in the room fell to their knees. They couldn't help it. Their Alpha was pushing his power to the limit.

Dr. Hess hurried from Jillian's room, the force of the Alpha's power making him stagger.

"Alpha," he gasped out, "ease up would you?"

Edric released his grip, and everyone sighed, the humans in the room wondering what had just happened.

  "Where is she?" Edric growled.

  "In your room."

"I want her fired," Edric replied, pointing at Cassie.

"Done. Now come on, we have some things we need to discuss."

"But Doctor," Cassie said, running up to him. "I was doing my job. I don't know this man. He could be a mass murderer for all I know."

"Cassie, this man, is King Edric Ventin," Dr. Hess pointed out.

"Oh, well, how was I supposed to know? He just comes storming in here acting like he owns the place."

"Which he does," Dr. Hess pointed out. “You are dismissed,” he told her.

Warren and Orson were watching the whole exchange, amused looks on their faces.

He turned to Warren and Orson. "You can go into Jillian's room. There is a nice old couple in there, they brought Jillian in. I need to talk to the Alpha.”

"I want to speak with that couple,” Edric said.

"You can, but in a few minutes. I have some news for you." He looked worried.

"Very well," Edric replied, and followed Dr. Hess to his office, Warren and Orson going into Jillian's room.

Dr. Hess closed his door as soon as Edric entered.

"What's going on doc?" Edric asked, seeing how worried he was.

"I have some news for you."

  "Is Jillian dying?"

  "Not yet."

  "What do you mean?"

  "She's pregnant again Alpha."

The Alpha's face lit up. "So that is why she is sick."

  "Yes."

  "You look worried," Edric said.

"I am. Jillian's body is fighting this pregnancy, just like the last one. She is human, and I am sure she is carrying a werewolf baby inside her."

“You don’t think the baby is all human?”

“More than likely not, considering who she is mated to,” Dr. Hess told him.

"Yes, and it is making her seriously ill. Her body is trying to get rid of the baby, hence all the throwing up and her being so weak."

  "What can we do?"

"Well, two choices, she aborts the baby," that one made Edric wince.

  "Or?" Edric asked.

"She is kept on anti-nausea medicine and I.V.'s for the whole term of her pregnancy."

"Not good choices, either one,” Edric sighed.

"I know, I am sorry Edric. I don't know why her body is doing this, but I am sure it is because she is human."

Edric sighed. "There is nothing else we can do?"

"Not that I know of. We can discuss it with Jillian when she wakes up."

Edric nodded and followed Dr. Hess out the door. Edric was sick with worry. He couldn’t lose his Luna. Tears came to his eyes as he opened the door to her room. All eyes were on him, except Jillian's whose were closed, her face pale against the pillow. His heart surged in his chest. He would do anything for her, and if it meant aborting the baby so she could live, so be it.

  Chapter 34

When Edric walked into the room, everyone stepped back so he could see Jillian. His heart caught in his throat at the sight of her. She looked seriously ill.

He approached the bed, and everyone left the room to give them privacy. He pulled up a chair and sat down by her, taking her hand. It was cold.

"My love," he murmured. "I am so, so sorry. Sorry that you were so scared of me that you ran away and sorry that you are going through this. I hope you will forgive me for my foolishness. I cannot live without you Jillian, I can't. It would kill me if you left me."

He felt her squeeze his hand and she opened her eyes.

"Hi," he said softly, watching her.

  "Hi," she whispered.

"I am so sorry," he said.

"I know, and I am sorry I ran.”

"Will you forgive me for my anger?"

  "I will," she said.

  "Why did you run?"

"You scared me, I have never seen you so upset, and I thought you were going to take all your anger out on me,” she whispered.

He frowned. "I would never harm you, Jillian, ever. I love you with my entire being. I was angry at Jessy, and my wolf was fighting to get out. I was not angry with you, even though it seemed like it. I was frustrated that you made that comment about her, and to clarify, she was never my lover, even if she wanted to be. I hated her with every ounce of my being. She was rotten through and through. I am truly sorry love. I am just glad that Helen and Albert found you."

  "They are very nice wolves."

"Yes, they are. I have met with Albert a few times.”

  "They need help though."

  "With what?"

"They can't pay their bills, they aren't making enough of a living off their hay."

"I'll see what I can do about that, but there is something we need to talk about."

  "I'm pregnant again, aren't I."

"Yes, you are, and it worries me."

"Oh? I thought you would be happy."

"I am ecstatic, but the doctor said this baby does not like your body. That is why you are so sick. You are carrying a werewolf more than likely, and your body is rejecting him or her."

"Oh," Jillian said softly. "What can I do?"

"Two options, I don't like either one."

  "What are they?"

  "Dr. Hess suggested an abortion."

"No, no way, no matter what," Jillian said, "please don't make me do that."

"I won't, but the other option isn't great either."

  "What?"

"You have to be hooked up to I.V.'s and be on bed rest your whole pregnancy."

Jillian frowned. "You're right, that's not a great option either, but better than the other. I wish there was another option."

"I don't know why you couldn't go about your daily life until you felt like you needed I.V.s'," Edric said. "I can't imagine you being sick your whole pregnancy. Isn't the first few months the worst?"

"It is, but what am I going to tell my parents? They will kill me when they find out."

"We could always get married now, then pretend it's a honeymoon baby, you know like we were talking about before when you lost the other one," he said.

"But if I am puking my guts up during the ceremony, won't my parents be a bit suspicious?"

Edric chuckled. "We can tell them it's the flu."

"Yes, and my mom is going to believe that one when I keep throwing up every day, for several days."

"I don't know," Edric shrugged, "what do you want to do then?"

"Will you call Carla and have her come in? And my parents? I am sure they are sick with worry."

“I will, how are you feeling right now?”

"I'm okay, just a bit weak from throwing up so much. Will you thank Helen and Albert for me?"

"How did you meet up with them in the first place?" Edric asked curiously.

"When I got mad, I went to the mall, then I left town. I decided I didn't want to have anything to do with this life. I am tired of running, I am tired of being hurt, so I wanted to leave it all behind." She began to cry.

He sat and pulled her onto his lap. "Are you saying you want to leave me?" he whispered, looking hurt.

She looked up at him, seeing the hurt in his eyes.

"I love you," she whispered, “it’s been just really difficult staying sane with all that is going on, and I am feeling sad, let down, angry.”

"Will you still marry me though?" he asked her, pulling a ring from his pocket. “I know it’s not the romantic proposal you wanted, but Jillian, I want you, I can’t live without you, you are my life.”

He watched her as tears formed in her eyes. “Do you want me to marry you, even with this whole mess?” she asked him.

“Of course I do. There is no one else in this world I would rather marry.”

“I will marry you then,” she whispered.

He kissed her and put the ring on her finger, a single solitaire diamond, at least three karats. Tears fell down her face as she looked at the magnificent ring.

“I love you my Luna,” he said, kissing her tears away.

“I love you, I just wish,”

"Wish what love?" he asked her gently.

"I wish this would all end. That whoever is after us would be caught, and we could have our happily ever after."

He nodded in understanding. "I know love, and I want to catch the person behind all of this as much as you do, more so even. We are trying, I promise."

"Did you get anything out of Jessy?"

"No, she was more scared of whoever sent her to kidnap you, than me, and I am the Alpha.”

  "You ended up killing her."

"I did. She has been a major thorn in my side, and she wouldn’t answer my questions. I lost it and killed her, I am sorry. Sorry for getting angry, but not sorry for ending her miserable life.”

Jillian touched Edric's stubbled face. "You are forgiven."

"I love you more than you will ever know Jillian Everett. You are my life. I cannot live without you, please promise me you won't ever leave again? If we argue, let's talk about it, okay?"

  She nodded. "Okay."

The door opened then and Jillian's parents walked in, Carla behind them.

Jillian looked at Edric and he tapped his head. She nodded, wishing she had that communication sometimes.

Jillian's mom came over to the bed. Edric placed Jillian gently down and stood back.

  "Mom, dad," Jillian said sheepishly.

"Honey, what happened?" her mom asked.

"I got mad at Edric and ran away."

"Oh," her mom said, "but why are you in here? Carla wasn't sure."

"I was throwing up all night, so a nice couple who picked me up brought me in."

"You aren't pregnant are you?" Jillian's mom asked her.

Jillian looked at Edric, he shrugged as if saying, 'this is all yours.'

Jillian sighed. "Yes mom, I am."

"Oh my gosh!" she squealed, and leaning down she hugged Jillian tightly. "I'm going to be a grandma!"

Jillian's dad chuckled and came to hug Jillian. "Congratulations."

"You aren't mad?" Jillian asked in surprise.

"Oh come on Jillian, we don't live in the 18th century," her mom said. "We were pretty sure that you two were not acting as innocent as you were pretending to be."

Jillian shook her head as Edric chuckled.

"Besides, who could resist someone who looked like him?" Jillian's mom pointed out.

"Very true," Jillian agreed. Edric was smoking hot.

  "Hey," Jillian's dad protested.

Jillian's mom smacked his shoulder. "I love you honey, but I mean come on, Edric should be a model or something. Even I get hot flashes around him."

Jillian busted out giggling, and Edric got a goofy grin on his face.

"So, you don't need me after all?" Carla asked.

"Yes," Jillian replied, "stay, I want you to help plan a shotgun wedding."

"I hope I am included in that," Jillian's mom said.

"Of course mom. I just figured the sooner the better, you know, before I start showing."

"How far along are you anyway?" her mom asked.

"Not sure,” Jillian shrugged, “but not very far along. A week maybe.”

“And you are sick already? You poor thing,” Jillian’s mom said. “But at least we have a few months before you start showing. How long will you be in here?"

"I'm not sure. My body really doesn't like me being pregnant, so it might be a few weeks before I can go home."

Her mom nodded. "I remember when I was pregnant. I was sick the whole nine months."

  "Really?"

"Really. I was on bed rest for the last two, and hooked up to I.V.'s to keep me hydrated."

"So I am having a girl then?" I asked her.

She chuckled. "That is very possible. But each pregnancy is different."

  Jillian yawned then.

"You look exhausted honey, we will let you sleep and come check back in tomorrow, okay?"

Jillian nodded, hugged both of her parents, and they headed out.

"Can Albert and Helen come in?" Jillian asked Edric.

  "Sure."

He went to the door and ushered them back in. Warren and Orson were keeping guard in the hall. They both gave a thumbs up to Edric, who nodded at them.

"Albert, Helen," Jillian smiled at them as they walked in.

They leaned down to give her a hug.

"You look better already," Helen commented.

"Thank you, and thank you so much for bringing me in and staying by my side."

"Our Luna, who knew," Albert chuckled.

"So dear, are you pregnant?" Helen asked.

"I am, and I would like you both to be the Godparents if that is okay."

Helen gasped, covering her mouth as tears came to her eyes. "Of course, we would be honored."

"Good. Edric also wants to talk to you about helping you out with your fields," Jillian then said, looking at Edric.

"Yes, of course," Edric said, "come out in the hall, we can discuss some things, while Jillian rests."

The couple nodded and after grinning at Jillian, they left the room.

Jillian sighed. Well, that had been easy, her parents taking her pregnancy a whole lot better than she thought they would. She figured they would have been angry. But now she had their support, her pregnancy would be a lot easier, as long as she could make herself not be nauseated. She thought for a moment and then smiled, putting her hand onto her stomach. If she could heal others, why not herself? Her hand lit up blue as she sent healing vibes into herself. Her body was instantly energized, the lingering nausea was totally gone. “Cool,” she muttered, amazed at how powerful she was, and wondered again, why? And how?

  Chapter 35

Jillian leaned over and picked up the phone. She had to tell Kim her news.

  "Hello?" Kim answered.

  "Hi Kim," Jillian said sheepishly.

"Oh, my gosh woman! Are you okay? I heard you went missing!”

“Of course you did, want to come to the hospital and see me? I have a lot to tell you.”

  "You're in the hospital, again?"

"Yes," Jillian laughed. "But I'll be okay, what day is it anyway? I've lost track of all time."

  Kim laughed. "It's Saturday night.”

“Wasn’t the prom tonight?” Jillian asked her.

  “Yes, but I didn’t go.”

  “Why not?”

“Ruben and I were too worried about you. I am so glad you are okay though.”

"So can you come and see me tomorrow?"

  "Of course," Kim said.

"Good, I have a lot to catch up on with you."

"I know," Kim said. "By the way, the principal said that Maroon 5 was going to be performing at the school on Monday."

  "No way, already?"

"Yeah, they moved up the date for some reason.”

“Sweet, so I will see you tomorrow?”

  “Of course.”

“Until then,” Jillian said, then hung up.

The door opened again and Edric walked back in alone.

"Scoot over," he said to Jillian.

&
nbsp; She did as he asked, and he gathered her into his arms, reached above him to shut off the light, and after covering them both up, he said, "Goodnight my love."

Jillian sighed. She was glad he was there. "Goodnight Edric. I love you.”

“I love you my Luna, for better or for worse,” he whispered.

It was one of the first nights Jillian had slept soundly, and when she woke back up, Edric was there, still holding her, watching her.

"Why don't we share a bed more often?" she asked him.

He chuckled. "That was your choice, and we aren't married yet."

"Oh, because that has stopped you from anything," she teased, pointing at her stomach.

He busted out laughing. "I love you my Luna."

"I love you too Alpha," she grinned.

"Hey, am I invited to the party?" Kim asked, poking her head in the door.

Edric grinned and sat up. "Come on in. I'll go get us some breakfast," he said, and getting out of bed, he kissed Jillian then left the room.

Kim pulled up a chair, "So, spill," she grinned.

Jillian grinned. "You would not believe what has been going on."

So she told Kim all that had happened from the last time they had seen each other, which had been when Ruben had almost been run over.

Kim kept gasping and wowing, over everything, and when Jillian finally took a breath, Kim just shook her head. "Wow woman, no wonder you haven't been to school, and pregnant? That is awesome," she grinned.

"Yes and no. That is why I am in here, my body does not like being pregnant."

  "Whose does?" Kim grinned.

  "True," Jillian said.

“So, when can you bust out of this place?”

“Not sure. I think the doctor wants to make sure I’m not going to keep puking my guts up first.”

  “You look okay.”

“Right now, I feel great,” Jillian nodded. She hadn’t had any more nausea since she had healed her stomach, interesting, and she didn’t mind not being sick.

Edric walked in the door then with some food.

  “That smells heavenly,” Jillian said.

“No nausea this morning?” Edric asked her.

  “Nope, I feel great.”

“Interesting,” he mused, setting the food on her lap. “I guess that is good. But we probably should see if you can keep your food down before you celebrate.”

“Very true,” Jillian agreed, biting into a breakfast sandwich.

“So, Edric, Maroon 5 is going to be at the school Monday, can I go to the concert?”
