It wasn’t something Elissa thought she’d encounter. Yet, she should have realized the animal side of her would be just as stimulated by making love as it was by the scent of blood.
Elissa managed to control herself as her kisses continued south. Her hand continued to massage and tease while her mouth found the mate to the perfect breast.
Moans were now intermixing with a writhing body. The animal inside Elissa was demanding it take what she wanted. But there was no way she would allow the animal to visit itself upon Cassandra.
Instead, Elissa switched sides so that the other breast was lavished with suckling. The vampire finally settled herself between Cassandra’s legs. Hips immediately rose to meet Elissa’s.
Elissa had forgotten how this felt. It was…Amazing. Hands were in her dark strands as she continued to pay homage to each breast.
A hand slid down Cassandra’s side. It rested on a hip. Elissa slowly slid lower enjoying the feel of flesh on flesh. When her right breast hit the warm lava, she pressed harder. The groan nearly had the vampire finding her release right then and there.
The vampire continuing pressing her breast into Cassandra’s warm nether lips. She could feel the shudders. She couldn’t allow her soulmate to find her release. Not until she had tasted her first.
Elissa slid further. Azure eyes met emerald. She made certain it was all right. Not knowing for certain what was happening, Cassandra still nodded.
Cassandra’s hips nearly forced Elissa from the bed. She had never felt anything like what the tongue inside her felt like. It was strength as it stroked against the pulsating nub.
A moan escaped Cassandra when the tongue thrust fully inside her. It was cautiously replaced by a finger. A hand was on her breast pinching her nipple in rhythm with the tongue on her nub and the finger inside her.
There was a moment when Cassandra thought she felt a little pain. It was soon overshadowed by the sensation the tongue was having on her clit and the fingers pinching her tit.
Cassandra felt something inside her. It was like a volcano, she supposed. With all the pressure building. And then an explosion of hot liquid. “Oh dear gods Elissa.”
Elissa was instantly by Cassandra’s side. She was holding her wife in her arms. Wife. It was the most amazing word she’d heard, with the exception of soulmate. “Are you all right?”
“I’m fantastic.” Cassandra couldn’t wipe the smile from her face. “I never knew.” She glanced up from where her head was resting on Elissa’s breasts. “Is it always like that?”
The vampire matched Cassandra’s grin. “Every time is the same, yet different. There are many ways two women can make love to one another.”
“I can’t wait to try more of them.” Cassandra’s hand began to wander. Azure eyes closed when the wandering digits made it to the dark patch of curls.
“Do you want me to?” Cassandra hoped beyond hope that Elissa wanted her to return the favor. Even though she wasn’t certain exactly what to do, she had a better idea now.
“I would love it. But only if you’re up to it.” Elissa felt her fangs descending as soon as Cassandra began playing in her dark curls. She would have to discuss this with her wife. But not until after Cassandra had explored her body to her content.
Cassandra began by suckling the breast that she had been using as a pillow. It was a different taste and texture than she had anticipated. Pebbly. Yet so enticing.
The fingers that had been playing in dark curls were now tweaking the other breast. It didn’t take long for a point to be formed. The way Elissa’s body was responding to her was hypnotic. She couldn’t wait to see how the rest responded.
After several moments of her ministrations on wonderful breasts, Cassandra decided to sample the taste of the valley between the breasts.
When a growl escaped Elissa, Cassandra paused to look at her wife. Elongated teeth were showing from lips that were partly open. There was a twinge of fear. But there was something more. There was anticipation.
It wasn’t of the tastes and scents assaulting her. It was seeing those fangs. Cassandra knew that one day, how long she wasn’t certain, she would feel those fangs sink into her skin.
The thought caused her to moan into the neck Cassandra was now assaulting. She sucked so hard she felt Elissa press into her mouth.
Cassandra was so lost. Yet, she felt like she had been found. Slowly, she made her way along a jawline. She was kissing Elissa’s mouth with no fear of the fangs she’d find there.
Once again, Cassandra was kissing her way to firm breasts. While she loved tasting them, she continued the blazing path south.
Abs felt amazing against her nipples as Cassandra pressed her body firmly against Elissa’s as she made the descent. Her own stomach came into contact with her wife’s soaked nether lips.
Both moaned at the sensation. Cassandra once again slowly descended. She wanted to do to Elissa what her vampire had done to her. That meant feasting on the warm flowing liquid escaping Elissa’s lower regions.
Once Cassandra had made it to the dark curls, she couldn’t resist. She thrust her tongue deep inside. The flow of juices over her tongue and into her mouth was like a lifeforce.
A smile curled onto Cassandra’s face at the thought. Technically, she was the one full of lifeforce. She was the one that could feed Elissa, if allowed to.
But it was this most precious liquid that felt more like a lifeforce than the blood that was rushing through every millimeter of her veins.
The rush gave Cassandra a heady feeling. She wondered if it would only become more intense when she made Elissa find the release she had given the mortal.
Using her tongue to explore the slick folds, Cassandra didn’t even realize she had begun humming. The taste of her wife was beyond anything. But it was the way Elissa reacted to each stroke that had the young woman feeling such a high.
Elissa couldn’t control her hips. The moment Cassandra began suckling on her clit, they rose from the bed of their own volition.
Everything Cassandra did to her body caused Elissa’s fangs to attempt to descend. On more than one occasion, she could not find the willpower to force them back in.
Now was one of those times as Cassandra suckled hard as she entered Elissa with a single digit. The tongue and finger worked in tandem to bring the vampire closer and closer to release.
“Oh my sweet Cassandra!” Elissa nearly lost her voice she screamed so loud. Normally, she was in such control. But Cassandra had stolen it from her. Or had the vampire been a willing victim.
Elissa tugged on damp blonde locks encouraging her wife to once again use her as a pillow. “Thank you. I haven’t felt like this in…”
Cassandra glanced at her lover. Another word she could use to describe Elissa. It was intoxicating. Emerald eyes grew wide with worry as she noticed the tears.
“I didn’t hurt you, did I?” Cassandra leaned on one elbow. She glanced into azure eyes. She gently wiped the flow of tears from Elissa’s cheeks.
“No, you didn’t hurt me.” Elissa took a deep breath. “You’ve given me the greatest gift I’ve ever had. I’d thought it was the first time I made love to Andrea. But making love to you has healed me. It’s made me whole.”
Kisses were quickly attempting to dry up the tears escaping Elissa’s eyes. “I want to thank you for loving me so tenderly. I don’t have words for how you’ve made me feel.”
“We’re quite the pair.” Elissa brought Cassandra so she was resting fully on her body. Her strong arms remained wrapped tightly around her wife.
“There is one thing.” Elissa hated to break the spell of love and contentment she felt settle upon her. “While I was making love to you and you to me, I was having trouble controlling the animalistic side of myself.”
“I know.” When the body beneath hers stiffened slightly, Cassandra continued. “I happened to look up and I saw your teeth elongate. I have to admit my first reaction was fear. But then it turned into anticipation.”
Elissa didn’t have to ask anticipation for what. “I’m just grateful I didn’t scare you too much. I admit it did scare me. But I think I’ll be able to control myself. Until the day we both agree it’s time to gift you with immortality.”
“Gift?” Cassandra raised up so she could see azure eyes. When they began twinkling, she understood. “You are looking forward to spending eternity with me. That’s why you don’t consider it a curse anymore.”
“I’m not saying I’d gift anyone else with immortality, but with you it is more than a gift.” Elissa gratefully accepted the kiss. She knew it was a signal that there would be little to no talking for the rest of the day.
Chapter 37
Spring was around the corner. It had been an interesting autumn and winter so far. Cassandra practically glowed at the thought of what had made it so interesting. They made love every chance they could.
Cassandra was in the kitchen. She sometimes wished she could make meals for the both of them. Perhaps if they hired on ranch hands she could learn to cook for a larger number of people.
It was something they weren’t certain of. How many horses would they have. With spring being right around the corner, they had been writing back and forth with Mr. Wilkens’ friend. He wasn’t certain until after spring roundup was completed.
It meant another trip to town was in order. They had been averaging every other week throughout the winter, unless the weather had been too great to travel in.
The growling caused Cassandra to open the back door. Raven and her four pups, who weren’t pups anymore, were sitting looking at her in anticipation. “I haven’t made any cooking errors yet. You guys will just have to fend for yourselves.”
Raven sneezed. It was followed by four identical sneezes. The wolfpack howled before taking off for the hills behind the farm.
“Fickle.” Cassandra chuckled to herself. While she had always been a cheerful person, something had changed when Elissa and she had made love.
Cassandra remembered the conversation she and Elissa had had about becoming intimate. It changes everything. In their case, it had brought them even closer.
The mortal made her way outside. Elissa was placing the finishing touches on the stables. There would be room for twenty horses to begin. If they were successful, she would either add on or they would build a new structure.
“Are you ready?” Cassandra was already heading to the barn. She would begin hitching the wagon. Once again, the trip would also mean replenishing their supplies.
“I was born ready.” Elissa didn’t even hesitate. She jumped from the roof of the stables, flipped twice and landed beside Cassandra who had just made it to the barn.
“Showoff.” Elissa chuckled at the comment. She chose to showoff even more. Before Cassandra could react, her vampire had the horses hitched to the wagon. “I reiterate, showoff.”
Elissa pulled Cassandra tightly against her. She kissed her passionately before picking her up and summersaulting and landing onto the seat.
“You’re in a very good mood.” Cassandra giggled like the ten-year-old Elissa had rescued. “I like it when you are in this good of mood.”
“I think those in Salem will be happy I’m in a good mood.” Elissa’s eyes gleamed with mischief. She could swear that every time they made love, a little bit more of her humanity returned. Or was that just wishful thinking?
There was the other side effect that occurred each time they made love. It was something Elissa hadn’t been able to fully curb. But they took the proper precautions each time.
The hour long ride seemed to fly by. To Elissa, time seemed to easily escape her. Before Cassandra had come into her life, eternity had felt just like that. Since marrying Cassandra, time seemed to fly by.
The cattlemen’s association had been established by Mr. Wilkens. It was the place they would stop first to see if he was in town for the day.
There was a different sheriff who waved at them as they made their way to their destination. Elissa had been instrumental in making certain a new sheriff had been elected, with Mr. Wilkens’ assistance.
Elissa was off the wagon and tying the reins to the hitching post before Cassandra could even begin to step down. The immortal aided the mortal from the wagon.
“Thank you.” Even in town, their knowing glances and touches didn’t diminish as much as they should. They held hands as they made their way to the door.
As always, Elissa held the door open and waited for Cassandra to precede her. Mr. Wilkens’ face brightened when he realized who was bringing the cold air into his warm office.
Instantly, Mr. Wilkens was on his feet. “I was just thinking of sending a messenger to your ranch. Timing is perfect as they say.” He took a moment to shake both women’s hand before ushering them to the chairs in front of his desk. “This came yesterday. I didn’t receive it until an hour ago.”
Elissa took the envelope from his hand. She leaned over so that Cassandra could read the contents of the letter. It was from Mr. Wilkens’ friend in Texas.
Twenty-four horses. Five stallions with nineteen mares. It was more than enough for them to begin their horse ranch. They would need to expand faster than they had anticipated, but it wouldn’t be too much of a problem as Cassandra would help her vampire build.
The price was what was shocking. Elissa double checked to see if she was seeing right. She glanced from the letter to Mr. Wilkens. “This price. Why is it so low?”
“I just told Mr. Ellison that he better treat you ladies right because you’d be supplying my cattle ranch first and foremost.” Mr. Wilkens appeared proud of himself.
“You’ll definitely be the first to receive a horse from the Angel’s Horse Ranch.” Elissa knew they hadn’t discussed naming the ranch. But she couldn’t think of anything more fitting.
To Elissa, Cassandra was an angel sent to earth to save her soul once it had been stolen when she had been turned into an immortal. She would think that until she no longer existed.
“I like the name.” Mr. Wilkens nodded in approval, not that either of the ladies needed it. “You just give me the word. I’ll message Mr. Ellison on your behalf. Payment will be made upon arrival of all the horses.”
“You’ve done so much. Thank you.” Cassandra rose. While she really liked Mr. Wilkens, she wanted to return home. They had more building to do. And only a handful of weeks to do it in.
“I’ll keep on helping you kind ladies. Now go enjoy the rest of your day. We’ll get together one Saturday for dinner again.” Mr. Wilkens rose to meet Cassandra and Elissa. He shook both their hands before leading them to the door and holding it open for them.
“We look forward to it.” Cassandra smiled sweetly at the man. If only all men were like Mr. Wilkens, the world would be a better place.
The next stop on their visit to town was the General store. As they passed by the café, a young girl ran out. “Get out of here you thief. I told you not to come back.”
Cassandra watched as the girl, about eight with blonde hair and blue eyes, ran like the wind. She turned to Elissa, but her wife was already on the move.
The mortal shook her head taking the reins that had been placed in her lap. Cassandra guided the horses to the hitching post in front of the general store.
As soon as the horses were secured, Cassandra took off toward where Elissa and the young girl had disappeared. She caught up to the dark clothed figure of her wife standing with the girl in her arms.
The young girl was crying. Elissa was attempting to calm the child, but wasn’t having any luck. Azure eyes beseeched Cassandra to help her.
Cassandra took the girl from her wife and stood her on the ground. She knelt in front of the young girl. “Hi. My name is Cassandra. This is my cousin, Elissa. Are you ok?”
The little girl rubbed her eyes and shook her head. “Tell me your name and why you aren’t ok.” She began to gently wipe the tears from the too thin cheeks.
“My name is Emily. My family moved here last spring
. But they caught the fever this winter.” Emily hiccupped. “I’ve been on my own for the last two months.”
Cassandra glanced up at Elissa. They seemed to have an unspoken conversation for several moments before the vampire nodded. “Would you like something to eat?”
“Yes, please.” Emily was still hiccupping from crying so hard. She had been scared enough when the woman from the café had chased her out once again, but then the tall dark imposing lady had chased her.
“Take my hand.” Emily did as Cassandra asked. The young woman’s other hand was taken by Elissa. The trio made their way back to the café.
Before they could enter, the woman attempted to grab the little girl. Elissa moved stealthily. She glared at the woman. “I just want to teach that child a lesson. She needs her hide tanned and then some.”
Elissa’s resonant voice caused the woman to freeze. “If you had been a true Christian woman and asked why the child was stealing, you’d know it’s because she lost her family over the winter. She’s been on her own for months. Whatever Emily has stolen we’ll pay for. Including whatever is consumed for lunch now.”
The woman’s eyes blinked several times. “I-I-I didn’t know. I’m so sorry.” The woman disappeared behind the counter. She needed to distance herself from the intimidating woman.
The vampire continued to glare at the woman behind the counter. She sat on the opposite side of Cassandra and Emily figuring the child would be more comfortable with her wife beside her. “Emily, you order whatever you’d like.”
Blue eyes grew wide. “Really?”
Cassandra sadly remembered that feeling. Even being told it was all right, having nothing for so long had made it difficult to believe. “Really. Now, I’m thinking a roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. Maybe a piece of pie for dessert.”
Emily nodded enthusiastically. She couldn’t believe her luck. Just that morning she had worried if she would eat and stay warm. Now, she was going to have dessert.
The meal was consumed under the watchful gaze of Elissa. There was something about Emily. She reminded her a little of a young Cassandra. Thoughts were flowing through her mind. Ones she never would have entertained before her wife had entered her life.
