  When I come to again, it’s dark. Faolán whines and licks my face. I hold onto her to steady myself and climb to my feet.

  I hardly remember making it away from the bridge. Escaping Siren’s Reach is a blur.

  It’s over. The gang is finished, but at least Bast got away. Maybe something good can still come from this mess. I don’t care about Duke or anyone else who survived. As far as I’m concerned, I’ve always been better off alone. It’s time to do what I should have before all this started.

  I have a queen to kill.

  Kyle Alexander Romines is a teller of tales from the hills of Kentucky. He enjoys good reads, thunderstorms, and anything edible. His writing interests include fantasy, science fiction, horror, and western.
