“Never mind.” She laughed. “I should go.”
“Ye should.” He smirked at her. “Maybe I will see ye later?”
“Maybe.” She got on her motorcycle and put the helmet on. “I’m around.” She said as she took off on the bike as he watched her drive off before he walked into the building.
Chapter Four
Natalie made her way back to her apartment. She was shocked that Demetri was in town and she was also happy about it. It seemed like forever since she had seen him, and she could really use a friend right now even if they did have sex. She tried not to think about that, but it was still in the back of her mind. He had been amazing in bed but like Aidan she knew barely anything about him.
She had snooped one day back in Scotland and found a box full of old letters. They had been written by a woman, one that was in love with him. He had caught her that day and it was an uncomfortable situation. All he told her that day was that her name was Alana and that he knew her a very long time ago. That was all she knew of Demetri, but she knew there was much more to him.
Natalie got inside her apartment and she pulled her laptop out as she looked at a newspaper article from California from a few weeks ago. Aidan and his woman were in the states now and causing even more harm to people. She was still so angry at him but more at herself for caring so much about him still. He did need to be stopped and she would be the one to do it, that much she did know.
Natalie made her way into the kitchen and she grabbed out a beer as she popped it open and took a big swig. Her mind now went to Demetri. He looked damn good. She hated how her body reacted. She just needed to get laid and not by Demetri, she couldn’t risk ruining a friendship with him. She was damaged goods; her life was laid out for her.
She saw a message from Eve on her phone as she got back into the Livingroom and she looked at it.
Come out with me tonight. I need someone to chill with.
Natalie texted her back. Ask Dante. I’m tired. She lied as she put her phone down. She hated being around Eve these days and the reason was silly. Eve was happy in a relationship with Dante and surprisingly enough they were looking at getting married. Eve was always talking about wedding planning and what not. Natalie just didn’t want to have anything to do with it, weddings or happy couples. She liked her quiet closed off world, sure it was lonely, but it was also safe. Safe was good, it was what she needed.
Eve sent her another message. Please. He is on another case. I really miss you.
Natalie sighed as she put her beer down. She missed Eve too but not the wedding obsessed Eve. She missed her friend, the one she hadn’t really seen since she got engaged a month ago.
Ok. But not late. I have things to do tomorrow and agendas to get ready. She texted back as she sipped her beer some more.
Yay! See you at the bar. Eve messaged, and Natalie sighed as she finished her beer.
She looked down at her current clothes. She looked like a hot mess. She decided to make the most of this and so she went to get dressed. Maybe a night out will do her some good after all!
Natalie didn’t go to the bar often enough but now that she was there she realized how much she had missed being out with Eve. It was like old times again and she wasn’t even mentioning her crazy wedding coming up. The girls shared a pitcher of beer as they played a game of pool. They laughed and really enjoyed themselves.
“I really missed this Nat.” Eve said with a smile.
“Me too.” Natalie smiled.
“But I’m going to run to the little girls room, no cheating!” Eve laughed as she ran towards the bathroom and Natalie lined up her shot on the pool table.
“Tis a dangerous sight ta see ye bent over a table like that Lass.” She heard Demetri say as she spun and faced him.
“Long time no see, again.” She smirked.
“I may be in town longer then I had planned.” He smirked at her.
“That’s not such a bad thing.” She grinned.
“Not at all Lass. So, are ye any good wit a stick?” He asked with a grin.
“I feel like that is a double-sided question and I feel uncomfortable answering!” She laughed and so did he.
“Ye may be onto something Lass.” He smirked. “I hope ye aren’t drinking that big ol’ pitcher by yerself.” He added as he glanced at the beer on the table.
“No, I’m with a friend. Eve.” She added quickly.
“Well I wont be a bother then.” He said as he spun from her. “Tis always good ta see ye Lass.” He said as he walked up to the bar and she watched him as Eve came walking over.
“Who is that?” Eve said with wide eyes and it snapped Natalie out of her shameful staring.
“Oh just. You know, a friend. From Scotland. Your turn.” Natalie said quickly.
“From Scotland? Is that Demetri? The one who let you stay with him there?” Eve said in shock as she looked at him and then Natalie.
“Yeah he is just in town. Your turn Eve.” Natalie tried to change the subject.
“I will get to that in one second. So why is he here?” Eve asked quickly.
“I don’t know Eve, I’m not his keeper. Business I suppose.” Natalie said quickly as Eve looked at her now.
“Uh huh, so why is he staring over at you?” Eve said with a raised eyebrow.
“He is?” Natalie said quickly as she turned and looked at him, but he was talking to the bartender.
“Oh my god, you slept with him. Didn’t you!” Eve said in shock.
“What? Can you keep your voice down!” Natalie said with embarrassment. She hadn’t told anyone what happened between her and Demetri. All they knew was that he helped her while she was in Scotland.
“Oh my god, you did! Why didn’t you tell me Nat. I should have known though. He is hot. Hotter than you explained him to be.” Eve said with a grin as she kept looking at him. He looked at them now and raised his glass as Natalie quickly looked away.
“Your crazy! Stop looking at him.” Natalie shook her head with embarrassment.
“It’s a free country. I can look if I want.” Eve smirked. “So, details?”
“What? There are none. He is a friend.” Natalie said quickly as she sipped her beer.
“Bullshit, friends don’t look at other friends like that.” Eve laughed. “Come join us!” Eve began to wave him over.
“Oh my god Eve, what the hell are you doing!” Natalie said as her face began to turn red.
“I’m being hospitable to our ally in arms.” She grinned as Natalie shook her head with embarrassment.
“I’m sure he has other things to do tonight then to be stuck with us.” Natalie said quickly as Demetri got close to them.
“Actually, I couldn’t think of a better way ta spend me night then in tha company of two bonnie Lasses.” Demetri said with a grin and Natalie wanted to die as she looked at Eve who was grinning from ear to ear.
“Why thank you Demetri and thank you for being such a good friend to Natalie. She is great isn’t she!” Eve grinned, and Natalie shook her head as she flushed.
“Don’t mind my friend Eve, she seems to have had too much to drink tonight.” Natalie said sarcastically.
“Don’t mind my friend Natalie, she seems to not have drunk enough.” Eve laughed.
“Eve!” Natalie said as she laughed nervously.
“Natalie!” Eve laughed.
Natalie rolled her eyes and then she looked at Demetri who was smirking.
“Ok how about a three way.” Eve said as Natalie nearly spit out her beer as her eyes got wide.
Demetri began to laugh.
“I mean three-way pool you sicko.” Eve laughed at Natalie.
“Listen I don’t know with you Eve.” Natalie laughed now.
“Three-way pool sounds interesting anything other than that I would have ta decline. I already have me sights set on someone and I dinna share well.” Demetri laughed some.
“Well I am glad we all agree on something.” Natalie laughed but she couldn’t
help but wonder who Demetri was talking about. Did he have a girlfriend now? The thought raised a bit of jealousy in her.
“Who wants to break?” Eve grinned.
An hour into the second game of pool and the competition between them was at an all-time high. The drinks went as quickly as the balls that went into the holes, but the night was becoming the most fun she had in a while.
Natalie sunk the last ball and did a small victory dance as Eve laughed and rolled her eyes. “Well that is it for me kiddos.” Eve hiccupped as she laughed.
“Light weight.” Natalie smirked. “But it is late, I can get us a cab we can share.”
“Dinna think about it Lass, I can drive ye both home. Remember I canna get drunk.” Demetri said with a smirk. He still hadn’t mentioned anything about this mysterious woman he was seeing, it irked Natalie. Not that she had any right, she had a chance and like everything else she blew it.
“I think you are great Demetri. We should go now before my stomach thinks differently.” Eve said with heavy drunk eyes.
“Come on Drunky McDrunky Pants.” Natalie laughed at Eve as she took one of her arms and they all began to head outside. Natalie was shocked to see that Demetri had his car with him. “You brought this all the way from Scotland?”
“I like ta have me own things with me.” He laughed some.
“I can see that.” Natalie said as she got Eve into the backseat of the car and Natalie got into the front seat.
“Lead tha way Lass.” Demetri said as they took off.
Eve was half out of it as Natalie got her into her apartment and into bed. Eve looked up at her with big drunk eyes. “ I like him Nat, he is a keeper.” She slurred her words.
“Get some sleep you silly girl.” Natalie said as she kissed Eve’s forehead and then she got back outside as Demetri leaned against his car.
“Thank you for bringing us home. I’m just on the other side of the apartment building.” Natalie said with a smile.
“Well tha least I can do is make sure ye get there safe Lass.” Demetri grinned as he began to walk with her. “Ye been doing good since ye been back?”
“Yeah, busy you know with work and what not.” Natalie said as they walked. “And you?”
“Same but tis definitely a lot quieter with ye gone.” He said, and she rolled her eyes.
“I’m sure you have found things to do to liven up your place.” Natalie said with a smirk. She still wondered about the chick he had been talking about!
“Not really, I did however keep yer plant alive.” He grinned, and she looked at him now.
“For real? I thought that thing would have been long gone by now.” She laughed. She had forgotten about the plant she had bought for his place. She had told him it was to lighten the mood around his house.
“Somethings just dinna die.” He smirked as she got to her apartment door. “Is this ye?”
“Yeah. So. Um.” She fidgeted with her hands. “Thanks again for driving us back and for dealing with Eve all night. She can be a bit much.” Natalie said with a shake of her head.
“She is fine. I did have a lot of fun. It’s been awhile since I have enjoyed meself like that.” He said seriously.
“Well I am sure your new girl keeps you busy.” Natalie said quickly, and he looked at her a bit confused. “Never mind, you know what I mean. Good Night Demetri.” She said with embarrassment. Why couldn’t she just keep her mouth shut? She blamed the alcohol.
“Tis no new Lass in me life.” He said as she opened the door and then looked at him confused.
“But you said you had your sights on someone earlier.” She said with confusion.
“I know and I wasna lying ta ye lass, but there isna anyone knew, tis only ye.” He said as she blinked a bit in shock.
“Um. What?” She said quickly. She thought she was hearing things because it seemed like he said that he was thinking of her.
“I canna stop thinking about ye Lass. Tis all I think about.” He said seriously, and she swallowed hard.
“Um. Really?” She finally said with shock still going through her.
“I would rather just show ye.” He said as he closed in the distance between them and before she could speak his mouth was crashing into hers in a hungry kiss that threatened to bring down her world.
He felt amazing. His strong body against hers. His tongue reuniting with hers. It almost seemed like a dream but then he was pulling back as she looked at him breathlessly.
“Say something Lass.” He said with heavy breaths as he was inches from her mouth.
“Do that again.” She said with a smile and then her lips were crashing into his as he wrapped his arms around her and walked her into the apartment as he shut the door behind them. Her back was against the wall as they kissed heavily.
He lifted her up as her legs went around his waist and a moan escaped her mouth as his erection pressed against her. He pulled back again as he looked at. “I want ye so bad lass.” His eyes were blazing with desire.
“Then what are you waiting for.” She said breathlessly as his mouth crashed into hers. He moved them quick until her back hit into the soft cushions of the couch. His shirt was off in seconds and so was hers. His eyes looked over her body and then she was leaning up and undoing his jeans. He made quick work of them as he got them off and then pulled on her jeans. They slid easily down her body and before she knew it he was tearing her panties off her as he pulled her up with him. He sat up on the couch and lowered her against his erection as she cried out.
His mouth silenced her moans as he kissed her passionately. She moved her body slowly against his eliciting groans from him as she moved up and down. She had missed this, she had missed him! It didn’t take long at all for them to find their release.
She buried her face in his neck as she panted heavily. “Ye may be tha death of me Lass.” He said with a grin as she looked at him.
“Sounds like a good way to go.” She smiled as she pulled her head from his neck. “ I like this, all rugged and wild.” She touched the stubble on his face as he grinned.
“Tis tha only thing ye like about me Lass?” He grinned as she felt him getting hard all over again, but he was still inside of her and the feeling was exquisite. She gasped as she looked at him.
“No, definitely not.” She said as her mouth crashed into his again.
Chapter Five
Natalie awoke to the sound of her phone buzzing next to her. She felt sore, her body ached, and she smiled as she remembered the night before. Her hand moved to the side of the bed and she realized that Demetri was not there. When had he left? She had fallen asleep. She wondered if she had scared him off. The thought made her feel ill. She sat up as she pulled the blanket up with her. She looked around her room and sighed. He was gone. She looked at her phone to see if he left her a message, but he hadn’t. Sam had left like twenty though and she sighed as she got out of bed and went in the bathroom.
She knew she shouldn’t get obsessed with Demetri but there was just something about him that pushed all of her buttons in such a delicious way. She took a quick shower and got dressed. A knock on the door alerted her as she quickly walked over to. She saw Sam and Lana standing at her door and she sighed as she held the door open.
“You need to stop them Nat. They cant kill him, he is my maker.” Sam said with frustration.
“He is a good man. He helped me when no one else would.” Lana interjected as they both walked into the apartment.
“Well come on in I suppose.” Natalie rolled her eyes.
“Who was here? A vampire was in here.” Sam said as he looked around.
“I smell it too.” Lana said as they both looked around the room.
“You know I am allowed to have people err, vampires come over.” Natalie said quickly as Sam looked at her.
“Are you seeing another vampire?” Sam said in shock.
“What? Your crazy Sam!” Natalie said sarcastically.
“Oh, there was definitely something
going on here. It’s still in the air.” Lana said with a shake of her head.
“There is nothing in the air. I think you two have way too much time on your hands.” Natalie laughed.
“Who is he, Nat?” Sam was completely serious.
“Back off Sam, last time I check I am still the older sibling and I don’t need to answer to you.” Natalie huffed.
“Yeah well you cant trust just anyone Nat. The world is a dangerous place.” Sam said seriously.
“Thanks for heads up Sam but I can take care of myself.” She rolled her eyes at him.
“You know Aidan would be pissed if he knew you had another guy in here.” Lana said quickly.
“Oh my god, really Lana. News flash, Aidan is a killing machine and what I do is none of his concern or yours.” Natalie snapped.
Sam looked by the door suddenly and then he was whipping it open as Demetri stood there with coffee in his hand. Sam barred his fangs at him, but Demetri had him up against the wall by his neck within seconds.
“Who are you!” Sam growled at him.
“Stop it! Both of you!” Natalie yelled out, but she was ignored.
“I should be asking ye tha same question Lad!” Demetri said quickly as Lana rushed over to them and grabbed Demetri’s arm hard as he spun and looked at her. “Lana?” He said in shock.
“I thought I smelled something familiar you big lug!” Lana grinned. “It’s all good Sam, I know him.” Lana grinned as Demetri let go of him.
“What?” Natalie and Sam both said in unison. Confusion filled the air.
“Well are you going to hug me or not?” Lana grinned but then Demetri hugged her.
“Ye look nice Lass. Ye stronger than last time I saw ye.” He said as they pulled back.
“Someone want to explain to me what the hell is going on!” Sam snapped but Natalie was thinking the same thing. How did Lana known Demetri? And just how well did they know each other? She hated that jealousy spurred in her.
“I got ye coffee.” Demetri finally said towards Natalie as he still had the cup in his hand.
“Um. Hello. Lana, who the hell is this!” Sam demanded answers.
