“Good.” Olivia crossed her arms over her chest. Em had never seen someone regard her with such intense suspicion. “Lead the way, sister. I assume you have a plan?”

Em met her sister’s gaze. “You bet I do.”

  END OF BOOK TWO

  ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Writing the second book in a trilogy is never easy, but I’m lucky to have so many wonderful people supporting me and the Ruined series. Big thank-yous to:

My editor, Emilia Rhodes, for your continued enthusiasm for the series and for edits that are never too terrifying.

My agent, Emmanuelle Morgen—thanks for loving this book right away, even in its early stages.

Thank you to Gina Rizzo, publicist extraordinaire, and Alice Jerman, for working so hard on all my books.

Michelle Krys—I’m so lucky to have such a wonderful crit partner! I’m sorry I didn’t take your note about Cas and Em’s “blissful moment,” but I’m evil.

Thank you to all the authors who joined me in doing signings for Ruined so I wouldn’t have to be alone—Julie Murphy, Debra Driza, Roshani Chokshi, Aprilynne Pike, Amy Lukavics, Chris Howard, Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff, and Shannon Messenger.

All the authors who help keep me sane—Julie, Natalie, Tess, Michelle, Bethany, Shannon—you guys are the best. Thank you to Kate Johnston for telling everyone about the total lack of rape culture in the Ruined world. Thank you to Amie Kaufman for the wonderful blurb, because I was too late to put it in the last acknowledgments. Thank you to Maurene Goo for introducing me to Korean dramas. My writing will never be the same, and I mean that in the best way possible.

Fairy Loot—thank you for putting Ruined in your subscription box!

BookPeople in Austin—thank you for doing a preorder campaign for Ruined with me, and for being the best indie bookstore around!

Thanks to my family, especially my parents, for always supporting me and buying an obscene number of my books.

My sister, Laura, my first crit partner, thank you for reading all my books, even when they’re terrible first drafts. And my continued apologies about Olivia.

And a big thank-you to all the readers. The YA community is the best community, and I’m so thrilled to be a part of it.
