SILVA WENT TO SILVER’S SCHOOL!? Wait, no. That’s not what’s important right now. It feels so surreal. I have so many questions in my head, but my mind is not in its proper state right now.

Silva walks towards me. “Trust me when I say that Jamie set this one up, but this next bit is all me...”

I glare at Jamie, who is waving at me at the back with the others watching. But then my attention goes back to Silva when he kneels down. I think I know what this means, but I don’t know if I should believe that this is really happening.

He takes something from his pocket and opens it with one hand. Taking the ring inside, he takes my left hand and inserts it on my ring finger.

He holds both of my hands to his, looks up to me, and asks the question.

“Cassandra Smith, will you spend the rest of your life with me?”

I am still in shock, because all this time, I thought that I might really lose him. He’s only taking his time to prepare a perfect proposal. The once loud and busy lobby comes to dead silence, as everyone around me waits for my answer.

Of course, I’ll say yes. But no words come out of my mouth. Instead, hot tears are slowly escaping my eyes. I nod and finally find my voice.

“Yes, Silva Grey. I’m ready to spend the rest of my life with you and Silver.”

He stands up and hugs me tight. Silver comes over too and hugs us both. Both the patients and the hospital staff cheer us on. This is real. Our family is complete now.

I still can’t believe that we’re all here in one place; me, Silver and Silva. I don’t dare to dream about this before. I have always thought that Silva’s gone for good. But seeing it come to reality right now, I can’t help but cry.

Everything works out in the end. It will be okay now; I know it will be.

  Twenty

  Silva

I guess the angels have granted Grandpa’s wish because all of his grandsons found a good woman. Sulli has decided to tie the knot with Mercedes, and I can see that he is serious about her.

Sebastian’s is with someone too, Marian.

I, on the other hand, get to be with the one woman I have only loved in my lifetime- Cassandra. The love we have for each other has grown through time. And with Silver, I can’t wish for anything else in this world.

There’s no reason to delay anymore. So when Cassandra accepted my proposal, I immediately hired a wedding organizer to prepare for everything, from the engagement party to the wedding itself. Well, it took a year to prepare for the wedding.

I want the best for my love.

The engagement party had been short and simple. But, it had been meaningful. Sebastian traveled to New York with his girlfriend, Marian. Everything is perfect.

Then the most awaited day comes.

It’s finally my wedding day, and it is the most emotional day for me. I still can’t believe it. Eight years, and we’re here, right now.

Cassandra walks down the aisle with Silver, and at that time, she’s the only one I can see. Tears are spilling slowly from my eyes. There’s only one girl I’ll love in this world.

Silver, on the other hand, is enjoying the spotlight as he accompanies his mom to the aisle.

As if we read each other’s minds, Cassandra and I look at each other. She smiles and mouths the words, “I love you.” When they arrive at the altar, Silver takes my hand and places it on her mom’s.

  “You got this, Dad.”

I can’t help but smile at this remark and ruffles Silver’s hair. I whisper to him, “Let’s make Mom the happiest woman in the world.”

“Sir, yes, sir.” And then he rushes to his seat. I take Cassandra’s hands, look her in the eye, and responds to her words in the aisle.

“I love you too, Cassandra Smith.”

The minister says a few words to us, and afterward the vows.

The usher assists the ring bearer and gives us both the rings. The minister asks me to say my vows first. And although I have the copy in my tux, I feel like this moment needs to be one without a script.

“Cassandra Smith, eight years ago, was my biggest regret when I did not chase after you when you left. It broke my heart, and I never did anything about it. We were so young, and we both had a lot of dreams.”

Her tears are trailing down, as well as mine. Fate has plans for us, and here we are now, in front of the minister, saying our vows for each other.

“You chased your dreams, and I did mine. I wanted to look for you after the breakup, but my dream has never allowed me to do so. Eight years after, and I find you again. I promise myself that I will never, ever let you go. I will do everything to keep you by my side forever, Cass.”

I think we both already ruined our make-up, but we don’t care. It’s as if we have our own world. It’s quiet, and I can hear the guests sniffing too.

“Silva Grey. I know now that I made the right decision eight years ago. You wanted to be in the navy. And even though it broke my heart, I had to let you go that day. You would never leave me, so I have to be strong for both of us. I wanted you to chase me, but at the same, I’m thankful that you didn’t.”

Both Cassandra and I are breathing heavily; as we remember that night, we left each other. It was a painful process we had to undergo.

“When I found out about Silver, I wanted to tell you, so much, about him. You deserve to know. But at the same time, I can’t hold you back. I want you to chase your dreams.”

Cassandra continues, “But fate has plans for us. Eight years, and we see each other again. I’m hesitant, but at the same time, I know in my heart that I love you. And I can never let you go this time too.”

She slides the ring on my finger, and we just both hold each other’s hands. The tears in our eyes won’t stop flowing. But we are happy. It has been a painful experience, but it made us stronger.

The minister declares us as husband and wife. Facing each other, I take Cass’ veil. Cupping her face with both my hands, I kiss her short, but sweet and tender.

We leave for our honeymoon in Paris, but we make sure to leave Silver in good hands. Sulli and Mercedes offer to take care of him.

“Silver. Be a good boy to Mercedes and Sulli, okay? Don’t give them a headache.”

Sulli takes Silver and hugs him and Mer, his left arms on Mercedes’ now growing belly and his right on Silver’s chest. Sulli and Mercedes will be great parents. With their baby on the way, I am looking forward to another member of the Grey family.

The honeymoon is perfect, but we have to go back to our lives. Then I receive the most wonderful news ever.

“Silva… I have something to tell you.” Her head is on my shoulder, and my arms wrap around her waist. I comb her hair as she takes a deep breath.

“I’m pregnant.” I face her, my hands holding hers.

“You’re kidding me, right? You’re really pregnant?” I can’t hide the excitement in my face, while she still has that poker face. Eventually, she can’t help but smile widely and answers me.

  “Yes, Silva. I’m pregnant.”

“You hear that, buddy? You’ll be a big brother.” I call out to Silver, whose attention is now with us. And he rushes to his mom.

“Is that true, Mom? Am I going to be really a big brother now?”

“Yes, Silver. Yes, you’re a big brother now.”

After Cassandra tells both Silver and me, we visit Grandpa to deliver him the news. I ask Sulli, Mercedes, Sebastian, and Marian to be there too. When we arrive at the mansion, they are already there, and Sulli is the first one to break the tension.

  “What’s the big news, Silva?”

Cassandra takes a deep breath and makes the announcement to them.

“I’m pregnant, and it’s a girl.” Cheers erupt from everyone.

Everyone is congratulating both of us, and grandpa hugs me tight. “Finally, a girl in Grey. I am so happy for you and Cassandra.”

He walks up to Cassandra and hugs her too.

As we all gather here, I feel like this is the star
t of something wonderful. And I can’t wait for our baby girl to be born.
