Callan stares across the dark sky as his chest heaves. Marcus is calming him down, but not enough. Callan has more reason than anyone to hate demons, since they killed his father and his half-brother. Finding out Olivia is part-demon shook him, hard.
“Tell me something you know about Olivia,” I say.
“She’s a demon.”
I roll my eyes. “Something not related to her being a demon.”
He sighs, and his glowing hands dim again. He’s calming down, and I nod at Marcus. He cuts off the flow of magic to see how Callan does on his own. It’s still best for him to come back from this as much as he can on his own. It will help him learn to control it in the future.
Sucking in a deep breath, Callan manages to say, “She’s a horrible fighter.”
Marcus smiles. “She is. For sure. She’s also too stubborn for her own good.”
“And secretive,” I add. “But I can understand why now.”
“We’re not asking you to accept her.” Marcus steps forward again, getting within swinging range of Callan’s fists. “You don’t have to be her friend. Just don’t expose her either.”
Callan glances at me. “What do you think?”
I rub the back of my neck and scowl. “I think it’s likely my father already knows. He probably wanted me to figure it out as a test. Which I failed.”
Callan’s glow vanishes, and he rests a large hand on my shoulder. “Don’t be too hard on yourself. She’s spent her life deceiving people.”
“Why’d you carry her back?” Marcus asks.
“She needed help,” he says, as if that explains everything.
“Jonah must have known the truth about her,” I say. “That’s why he wanted to keep her away from the school. He worried if she came here someone would find out what she truly was.”
“Yeah, he said it was for her safety,” Marcus adds. “Now we know why. But how do they know each other?”
“That’s what we need to find out, but she’s playing innocent. I’ll get it out of her in time though.”
“Jonah obviously wants her to be safe,” Marcus says. “That means we should keep her here and protect her.”
“I disagree,” Callan says. “Jonah made us promise to get her away from the school. That promise still stands, even more so now that we understand the danger she’s in.”
Marcus points in the direction of the bar. “She’s in danger out there too! You saw those demons tonight.”
“Then we’ll find her somewhere safe to hide her,” Callan says. “We have enough money between the three of us to make sure she lives a life of luxury, at least until Jonah is back.”
“I don’t think she’ll go for that,” I say. “The best thing we can do for now is to keep her close and try to figure out what else she’s hiding. Then we can decide how to proceed.”
“Fine,” Callan says. “I trust your judgment. But we can’t forget our promise to Jonah either.”
“We won’t.”
“I’m going to take her back to her room,” Marcus says, his wings flaring. “Maybe I can heal her a little more too.”
I raise an eyebrow at him. “You do know what she needs in order to heal?”
He gives me a cocky grin. “If that’s what she wants from me, I’m more than happy to provide.”
He’s totally missing the gravity of this situation. One quick fuck is not going to cut it. “From what I know about Lilim, she was completely starved tonight. She’s probably not getting enough sustenance from the few times she’s sneaked out of school. She’ll need to feed more often or she’ll continue to grow weak.”
“Feed?” Callan asks. “Like on sex?”
“Exactly.”
“I’ll take care of it,” Marcus says.
I shake my head. “One person won’t be enough. I’ll have to sleep with her too.”
Marcus’s jaw drops. “You?”
I wave my hand dismissively. “Don’t worry. I’ll only be doing it out of necessity to keep her healthy and safe, as part of our promise to Jonah. I don’t have feelings for her or anything preposterous like that.”
Marcus relaxes a little and laughs. “Of course you don’t. You’re as cold as ice. Sex with Olivia will be like a business arrangement for you.”
His easy dismissal annoys me, especially as I remember my kiss with Olivia. I definitely felt something then, though I’ll never admit it.
“It would be best if three of us provided sustenance for her.” I glance at Callan pointedly. “Succubi must feed on multiple people or risk injuring them.”
“No fucking way,” he snarls. “I am not touching a demon.”
“Fine, Marcus and I will handle it. We’re much stronger than humans, and we can deal with it later if it becomes a problem.”
“Assuming she’s on board with this arrangement,” Marcus says.
I flash back to the way her lips felt on mine and how her body molded against me. I know she kissed Marcus too—I saw it on camera. Somehow I don’t think she’ll have a problem with this proposal. “She will be.”
Chapter Thirty-Seven
Olivia
While the boys are off somewhere discussing my fate, I drag myself off the couch and pull myself together. I’m still weak and hungry, but I’m not going to sit here and wait for my judgement to come.
I draw out my black, shining wings, and then launch off the bell tower. I’m covered in blood from that demon’s blade, and all I want in the world is a hot shower. Then I’ll start packing a bag. Just in case I need to make a quick getaway.
When Marcus arrives on my balcony, I’m wearing only a robe and brushing my hair. I cautiously let him in.
“What happened?” I ask.
“We’ve decided not to tell anyone about you,” Marcus says.
My shoulders slump in relief. “Thank you.”
“We’ve also decided we need to help you with your succubus problem. Well, Bastien and I will. Callan isn’t a fan of the idea.”
I raise my eyebrows. “Is that so?”
“As long as you’re okay with it.” He reaches out and strokes my cheek. “I understand why you pushed me away after our kiss. But you don’t have to do that anymore.”
I grab his hand and squeeze it. “Then you know I can’t have a real relationship either. We can have sex, but that’s all it can be.”
“I’ll take whatever I can get of you.” His hands slide around my waist and he pulls me against his hard chest. His mouth finds mine, and his kiss instantly makes me stronger. I grab his shirt and bring him closer, as his lips and tongue do wicked things to mine.
But then I have a thought, and I pull back to look up at him. “Are you okay sharing me with Bastien?”
His thumb runs along my lip as he gazes down at me. “I don’t love the idea, but from what I remember from Demon Studies, you need to feed on multiple people, right?”
“I do. If you were human, I could only feed on you once without killing you, but I can feed multiple times on supernaturals without draining them too much.” Or so I’m told. I’ve never tested the theory.
“That’s where we come in. Bastien and I are the sons of Archangels. We’re stronger than most supernaturals. Between the two of us, we’ll keep you satisfied.” He gives me a sinful smile that makes me want to rip his clothes off right this second. “Besides, I’d rather you feed from us than from strangers.”
I can’t believe the two of them are on board with this plan, but I’m so ravenous and relieved I don’t want to say no. Maybe the two of them could actually keep me full without any problems. We won’t know unless we try, anyway.
His lips trail down to my neck. “We’re going to take care of you. I promise.”
In his strong, protective arms, I’m actually willing to believe that fantasy, if only for a few minutes. He grabs the tie of my robe and slowly pulls on it, allowing the terry cloth fabric covering my naked body to fall open. His dark eyes look me up and down with obvious pleasure, and the lust coming off him is so strong it makes my
succubus side go into overdrive.
“Damn, you’re beautiful.” He grabs his shirt and lifts it off him, then tosses it to the side. I lick my lips at the sight of his muscled chest, like some kind of ravenous beast. He grins at my reaction. “Bastien said you’ve been starving yourself.”
“I didn’t want to get caught.”
“Then tonight you’re going to have a five-course meal.” He pops open his jeans and slides them down without hesitation. His black briefs go next, and then he’s as naked as I am. The size and shape of Marcus’s cock is absolute perfection. I’ve touched so many in my life, and his is one of the best I’ve seen. Long, thick, and delicious.
I step forward and rest my hands on his chest, unable to stop myself. I press my face into his neck and breathe him in. “Marcus, I need you now, please. I can’t hold back the hunger.”
“Take whatever you need.”
I push him down on the bed and climb onto his lap, wasting no time sinking down onto his cock. I cry out as he fills me up, and he feels like heaven inside me. His sexual energy hits me like a jolt of lightning.
He grunts and grabs my ass to pull me closer, but he lets me lead the show. Swiveling my hips, I ride him hard and fast, positioning us so that his head hits my spot every time I press down on him. It’s been so long since I slept with someone I actually liked—since Kassiel actually—and it’s amazing how different it feels. You’d think after sleeping with so many people it would get old, but this is like having sex for the first time all over again…except with someone who knows exactly what they’re doing.
My orgasm builds fast, and I cry out as it hits me, cascading over me along with Marcus’s power. I slump down onto his bare chest as he heaves. He moves to kiss me, but stops just before our lips meet. “Whoa. Your eyes.”
I pull back and clap my hands over them. “I’m sorry.”
“No, no.” He takes my hands away from my face. “Don’t be sorry.” He kisses my eyelids with the softest touch, brushing his lips against them, feather-light.
I breathe in and open my eyes. “They don’t bother you?”
Marcus grips my hips. “On the contrary. They’re kind of sexy.”
I can’t help but laugh. “Oh, so you’ve got a demon fetish.”
“Seems that way.” He grins. “Or maybe I just have an Olivia fetish.”
“Thank you. I feel a lot better now. Feeding from you is…intense.” Marcus’s energy is strong enough I’ll be able to go for weeks before feeding again, just like when I slept with Kassiel. Their energy tastes different somehow, though. Maybe because Marcus is a Malakim and Kassiel is… Actually, I’m not sure which Choir Kassiel is a member of, come to think of it, but perhaps that’s the reason. Marcus and Kassiel are the only two angels I’ve fed from, but it sounds like I’ll be sampling Bastien soon, and then I can see if that’s the difference. I doubt I’ll get another shot at Kassiel, unfortunately.
“We’re not done yet.” Marcus grins and lifts me off him, then spins and plants my back on the bed. He hasn’t come yet, and I’m ready for him to enter me again and finish us both off, but he has something else in mind. “Like I said, this is going to be a five-course meal. Time for round two.”
“What—” I start, but then he’s spreading my legs wide and dipping his head between them. His tongue begins to do sinful things to me, things I’ve rarely had done before. I usually go straight for sex to get it over with as quickly as possible, and don’t have time for foreplay. Plus most of the guys I pick up give zero fucks about making sure I’m satisfied. Marcus, though? He’s a real man, and he definitely knows what he’s doing and likes to make sure his woman is very pleased. As his mouth and tongue bring me to new heights, I see why he’s so popular with the ladies around campus.
I cry out and dig my hands in his glorious hair as he works magic on my clit, and then he slips two fingers inside me and brings me to climax all over again. Two orgasms in one night? I’m a lucky girl.
But he’s not done yet.
I’m in a daze of pleasure, when he lifts his head and grins at me. “You taste delicious. I could go down on you all night long.”
“I certainly won’t stop you,” I say with a laugh. “But I think it’s time you came too.”
“Is it?” he asks, as he slowly stalks up my body.
I nod. “To feed fully, I need you to have an orgasm too.”
His eyes gleam with desire as his cock nudges my entrance. “Well, I can’t let you go hungry, now can I?”
He’s still slick with my juices, and his entry is fast and hard. It takes my breath away when his cock fills me up, and then he sets a relentless pace as he plunges into me. It’s exactly what I need from him, and I arch up to meet his every thrust. He captures my mouth as he fucks me hard, and it’s somehow both intimate and dirty. I love every second of it.
Another orgasm builds, and we finish together, crying out at the same time as he thrusts his cock into me harder than before. He pushes up on his arms and looks down at me as we both breathe heavily. “Fuck, that was good. But we have another two rounds to go so I make sure you’re nice and full.”
I laugh. “Should we take a break?”
“No way.” He pulls out of me, flips me over, and enters me from behind, already hard again. “Angel stamina, baby. I can go all night.”
And he does. We end up having more than five rounds, until I’m so full I feel like I just had Thanksgiving dinner and I need to unbutton my jeans. I finally kick him out just before dawn so we can both get a little sleep, but it’s hard. I want him to stay. That’s new.
Other than that time with Kassiel, I’ve never wanted so badly to roll over and cuddle with someone before. But I have to push the urge away, and it unnerves me. This is not a relationship. I can’t have one of those. This is just fucking. Really, really good fucking.
Hopefully on a regular basis.
Chapter Thirty-Eight
Olivia
A knock wakes me up.
“You coming down for breakfast, Liv?” Araceli cracks my door open as I sit up. “Hey. You hungry?”
“Yes,” I croak. “Starving.” And thirsty. Although physically I feel like I could fly from here to New York. Marcus’s sexual energy crackles inside me, and I’ve never felt so…powerful before. I’m even more excited about feeding from Bastien, whenever that happens.
I use the bathroom and run a comb through my hair before throwing on my gym clothes and walking out to meet Araceli. No time for a shower.
The cafeteria is packed. We’re having one of those crazy California heat waves, and even at 8am it’s crazy hot out already, even for an angel. Everyone wants to sit in the cool air-conditioned cafeteria instead of eating outside. Only one table is open in the entire room, so we grab our food and then hurry over to it, plunking our butts down before someone else can claim it. Seconds later, three trays plop down across from us.
My gut tells me what my eyes haven’t seen yet. I look up. Sure enough, I drink in the sight of three gorgeous angels hovering over me. Marcus gives me a knowing grin, his dark hair still messy from last night, while Bastien stares at me with eyes that are slightly less cold, although still inquisitive. And Callan? He glares at me like he wants to wrap his big hands around my neck and squeeze.
“Shit,” Araceli breathes. “Sorry, we can eat somewhere else.”
She starts to stand, but I shake my head and stare back at the Princes. “I don’t remember inviting you to sit with us. Besides, I thought you guys never eat in here.”
“These are the last three seats in the entire room, as you can see.” Bastien sits down first, on my right. Marcus sits on the other side of me. Callan sits across, next to Araceli, who subtly inches away from him.
“We wanted to see how you’re doing this morning,” Marcus says, with a naughty gleam in his eye. “Are you feeling well-rested?”
“I’m fine, thank you.”
“You do look better,” Bastien says.
Araceli is staring a
t us like she’s very confused.
“I ran into the guys yesterday after having a run-in with Tanwen,” I explain. “It was nothing.”
“Right,” she says slowly, but I don’t think she buys it.
The rest of breakfast is super uncomfortable. Marcus keeps grinning at me and sneaks in a few light touches on my arm or hand, Bastien stares at me like I’m the most fascinating thing he’s ever seen, and Callan throws food in his mouth while glaring at me the entire time.
“Well, as fun as this is, it’s time for class.” I stand up and grab my tray. Araceli breathes a sigh of relief and follows me. “I guess we’ll see you there, Callan.”
He grunts as we walk away. I have a feeling he won’t be giving me a break in Combat Training today. And Tanwen? I’m not sure where we stand either after our talk.
As soon as we’re outside and sweating instantly in the heat, Araceli whirls around on me. “What was that about?
I shrug. “I don’t know. It’s weird they sat with us.”
“No shit. And Marcus was all over you. Plus last night I definitely heard some sounds coming from your room along with his voice. Are you guys a thing now?”
“No, definitely not.”
“But you totally fucked.”
I hesitate. She is my roommate, and the walls are not thick. I heard everything she and Darel did together, that’s for sure. “Yes, we did.”
“So why aren’t you dating? Marcus is hot and nice, for a Prince anyway, and he’s obviously into you.”
“It’s…complicated. I’m not looking for something serious right now. He’s just a fuck buddy.”
Araceli snorts. “Fuck buddy. Right.”
“Seriously.”
“Okay, Liv. Whatever you want to believe.” She slings her bag onto her shoulder and starts down the path. “Let’s go.”
We head into Combat Training, which has been Araceli’s least favorite class since Darel died. For a long time she skipped it entirely, but then Hilda came to our room and talked to her, and she started going again. I think it’s actually helped her to be able to take out her grief and anger… Usually on me. I became her regular partner, which at least saved me from more Tanwen beatdowns.
