“I—” Darkness flashed before me before the light reappeared. When I reopened my eyes, I could see the room spinning and the voices became blurred. “I don’t… I don’t feel so good.”
“Ms. Morrison!” I heard my doctor yell out to me.
“Yes?” I tried, but no words would come out.
“G, you good? What’s wrong?”
“I don’t feel so good,” I managed to tell Sosa, who’s attention was averted at the sound of the door opening. I was certain it was Sauni and my father until I heard Sosa swearing.
“What the fuck is this?”
“Whaa—” I couldn’t finish the question.
Looking toward the door, I was surprised to see the policemen storming into the hospital room with their guns drawn and screaming obscenities. Tears stained my cheeks as I tried using all of my energy to maneuver in bed.
Of course I felt them by my side as they huddled around Sosa. I immediately recognized the man cuffing him as the one we’d just seen in surgical attire down in the waiting room. Sosa was cooperative, his focus still on me. He looked upon me with wearied eyes as they locked the cuffs around his wrists. His only concern was me as I looked to my mother for answers. She was as clueless as the two of us and kept shaking her head at the disruption before us.
“Couldn’t this have waited, gentleman? My daughter just pushed her baby out, for crying out loud. This is ridiculous.”
“Sos.” My energy had been depleted, and I felt as if I were floating away. I felt my daughter being snatched from my chest as my doctor began screaming for the policemen to remove themselves from the delivery room.
Sosa watched me the entire time, worried about my wellbeing. “Somebody help her!” he yelled. “She needs help! Something is wrong! Somebody do something!” he yelled as his charges were finally called off. “Sosa Law, you’re under the arrest for the murder of Brielle Jones. You have the right to remain silent…”
My heart stopped, literally. Between the buzzing of the monitor and the darkness that consumed me, I wasn’t sure which would take me out first. But there was one thing I was certain of before I flatlined, and that was the fact that the father of my child and love of my life was being arrested for the murder of my best friend.
“We’re losing her!”

A Mercy Message
A bit of the history on the characters I chose for this amazing series.
The heroine is every bit of me. While everyone is searching and wondering about what they want in life, I’m sure of myself, my potential, my preferences, and my intentions.
Our hero, Sosa, represents the misunderstood black men all over the world. In addition, he’s confident in his position, and is willing to go to the ends of earth to maintain it. Give it some thought. His empire is all he has and all that he’s ever loved. Beyond the shadow of doubt, he’s going to fight for what he loves.
Now, there is more to come of Sosa and Gauge. Their love is so different and so potent at the same time. I’m wondering if they will weather the storm just as you are. I can’t wait to pen book three to see where my head takes me, because that ending has my head all over the place.
While writing this book, I couldn’t help but consider the millions of lovers who experience turmoil and manage to make it out unscathed. It is amazing. Love is amazing.
Black love is amazing.
As much as it may not seem like it, I’m rooting for these two, and I am prayerful that my mind can take me to a place where they are worry and trouble free. But we know that is not how life works, so we will have to see!
Be sure to leave your thoughts on this couple in the form of a REVIEW on Amazon. I’d love your feedback.
Until book three,
Mercy B
