“No, not really.” Blake didn’t want to push her, but she wanted to get to know her more. “I met your mom at the play, yes, but that’s all I know about her. Well, that and you have three siblings you aren’t close to. Why is that?”
“Geez, going for the heavy-hitting questions tonight, huh?” Setting her wine glass down, Alexis turned slightly to face Blake. “I’m the youngest of four. I have two older brothers and an older sister. There’s a fourteen-year difference between my next closest sibling and me, so, as you can imagine, I was a mistake, and my parents always made me feel that way.”
Her shoulder slightly slumped, and Blake placed a gentle hand on her thigh.
“My parents are affluent people in the Cove, and I never fit into their mold. I was always too much for them, and they always chose not to deal with me. I spent a lot of time at Maddie’s house. She and Patrick were closer in age to me, so it was always more fun at their house. And now,” Alexis inhaled sharply, “my father has Alzheimer’s, and my mom’s struggling with that.”
“Oh, Lex, I’m so sorry.”
“It’s advancing quickly, from what I’ve heard. I don’t know.” She shrugged again. Despite the nonchalant attitude Alexis was trying to portray, Blake could tell she was upset. “I’ve not seen him since the diagnosis. In fact, the last time I saw him was about two weeks before that, and he told me I was a disappointment, so that’s a great memory. It sucks to know I’m losing him, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it, and it’s too late to fix our relationship.”
“I don’t have experience with Alzheimer’s, but I do know what it’s like to lose a father.” Blake waited until Alexis’s eyes met hers. “And I know what it’s like to lose him when there’s unfinished business there. My dad had prostate cancer. He went quick, but one of the last conversations I had with him was in anger. And then, I’m cleaning out his house and find these letters from my mom, and I am so mad at him for doing this to me and Mom and Mason, but there’s no place to put my anger anymore.”
“That’s how it feels.” Alexis firmly nodded. “I feel like I can’t be mad at him anymore because he’s sick and doesn’t know me half the time.”
“Does he ever have lucid days?”
“I don’t know.” She ran her finger around the rim of her wine glass. “I hadn’t talked to my mom in I don’t know how long until a few weeks ago when I took her the ticket for the play. And it’s been years since I’ve seen my siblings aside from an occasional wave at each other across the bar when they come in to eat.”
“I’m sorry if I brought up a tough topic for you.”
“It’s ok.” She sadly shrugged. “Thank you for letting me talk about it. I don’t usually talk about them. Only Sophia knows the whole story with my family. I’d be happy to tell you more sometime, but right now, I want to enjoy our night together.”
“Me too.” Leaning toward her once more, Blake placed a soft kiss on her lips. Blake pulled back and took hold of Alexis’s hand under the table. She gave it a gentle squeeze as she took a deep breath. “But first, I need to tell you something.”
“Oh, I hate when people say that, too.” Alexis cringed as she turned slightly in her chair to face Blake. Panic flashed in her eyes, and Blake wished she could take the words back and simply let them enjoy their evening together. “What’s up, babe?”
“Well,” she took in a deep breath, “Salem stopped by earlier this week.”
“Oh.” Alexis’s voice was higher pitched than Blake ever remembered hearing. She reached out and took her wine glass, and as she brought it to her lips, Blake noticed the way her hand was shaking slightly. “Ok.”
“She brought me a script for the show.”
“That’s exciting.” Although her voice was full of forced, upbeat excitement, Blake could see the sadness that clouded her green eyes. Alexis squeezed Blake’s hand tighter as she nodded her head a couple of times. “So, the show got picked back up.”
“It did.”
“That’s…great.” Alexis swallowed hard and took another sip from her nearly empty wine glass. “That’s so great, Blake. I’m so happy for you and everyone and…”
“Lex.” She scooted her chair closer to Alexis. “This doesn’t change anything for us, you hear me? Yes, I have to go to Vancouver and film, but I promise it won’t be for long. I can’t give you specifics yet because they’re still hashing out the details, but as soon as I know them, you’re the first one I’m telling.”
“When,” Alexis cleared her throat, “when do you have to leave?”
“Friday.” Grimacing, Blake averted her eyes from Alexis for a brief moment.
“Day after tomorrow Friday?” She let out a long, slow breath of air. Alexis pulled at her ear, something Blake had seen Harper do when she was thinking. When her green eyes looked back up at Blake’s, tears were brimming her eyes. “What does this mean for us?”
“Nothing is going to change, I promise. Well, I mean, my location is going to change temporarily. The studio is planning on having the movie – they’re making a TV movie, I don’t think I mentioned that – anyway, they want it to air before Christmas so I wouldn’t be gone long and can be back by the holidays.”
“Then what?”
“Hmm?”
“What happens after the movie?” She could see the wheels turning behind Alexis’s eyes. “Do you have to go back and film another season? Or is it over after that?”
“I don’t have those answers right now. Believe me when I say I wish I did. But,” Blake’s lips curled up into a smile, “I know that we have tonight, and for now, that’s enough for me. We can work out the details later. Let’s just enjoy our time together now, ok?”
“Ok.” Alexis leaned toward her and kissed her lips. Her hands framed Blake’s face as her kiss made Blake forget the clock had begun to tick on their time together before they would need to be apart for a few months.
The rest of their dinner went by with lighter conversation, and by the time they left, the worry lines around Alexis’s eyes had slowly disappeared. They loaded back into the limo, eager to get to the inn. For the entire drive, they stayed cuddled in each other’s embrace.
The Firefly Inn was magnificent and the perfect small-town inn. It was so warm and inviting, and Blake paused in the lobby to take in the grand view. Large wooden columns extended from the floor to the four-story-high ceiling, and bulky furniture sat around the lobby in small groups for intimate conversation. In the center was a beautiful water feature with a bubbling fountain at the top and a gently flowing waterfall underneath. Vibrant plants of all shapes and sizes adorned the lobby, and Blake thought she could spend the rest of her life in the lobby, simply taking it all in.
But she had other things she wanted to do first.
Checking in at the front desk, they received their antique brass room key and headed up to the top floor. Blake had spared no expense on the night and had booked the Presidential Suite. The room opened into a small but functional kitchen that led into a sitting area before giving way to a gorgeous king-sized bed covered with rose petals. On the small table by the large glass doors that led out to the balcony were the flowers Blake had purchased from Maddie.
Alexis was like a kid in a candy shop as she walked around the suite with her mouth slightly agape. Her hands touched every piece of furniture and every different fabric, and it made Blake smile. She looked so happy, so comfortable, and Blake was glad they’d decided to spend the night here.
“Babe, this room is gorgeous.”
“There’s a balcony too.” Nodding, Blake crossed the room and opened the French door. She took Alexis’s hand and pulled her outside to take in the stunning view. Moonflower Lake was perfectly reflecting the crescent moon and stars in the clear night sky. Frogs, cicadas, and owls could be heard in the serene setting.
“I never want to leave.” She wrapped her arms around Blake as she rested her head on her chest. Holding her close, Blake enjoyed the way their bodies fit together. Which only m
ade her think of all the other ways she wanted their bodies to fit together.
Chapter 30
Alexis knew what she wanted; she knew what she needed.
She needed Blake to touch her. She needed their bodies to be as close as they could possibly be. Alexis needed it like she needed her next breath. Taking hold of Blake’s hand, she led her back into the room and over to the bed. They fell onto the bed beside each other in bliss as their legs wrapped around each other’s.
“Mmm, I was hoping I wasn’t the only one feeling it.”
“There is definitely something going on here.” Alexis traced Blake’s jawline with the tip of her finger before moving to her arms. Her muscles reacted to the light touch as their hands met, clasping together as if they were each other’s lifelines. “I thought it was just me.”
“Why would you think that?”
“Because I…” Bringing their hands up to her chest, Alexis placed a soft kiss on Blake’s knuckles. She wanted to tell Blake that she was scared of their future and didn’t know if she could handle a long-distance relationship. She wanted to tell Blake she loved her. But instead, Alexis grinned and put her leg over Blake’s, pulling her as close to her body as she could get. “You’re pretty.”
The smell of Blake’s perfume filled her senses as she ran her hands through her hair and their lips pressed together. Slowly and tenderly, Alexis lifted her body over Blake’s so her knees were on either side of her. Below her, Blake shifted ever so gently onto her back; she looked up at Alexis.
Her body shivered as Blake’s hands made their way under her dress. Alexis leaned down and took hold of Blake’s mouth in hers in desperation to be closer to the woman below her. It had been years since Alexis had felt as alive as Blake made her feel, and she could tell by the impatience in Blake’s kissing that she felt the same way. Alexis was well aware of Blake’s hands running up and down her back as her fingertips softly brushed the skin which her backless dress left exposed.
She felt Blake slowly unzip the dress as she sat up on her knees and let Blake pull the dress off over her head. Blake’s breath hitched in her throat as she licked her lips, and it made Alexis blush. She was never one to feel confident about her body but watching Blake look at her with such love and desire was more than Alexis was prepared for.
Lowering her body closer to her, Blake’s hand immediately found Alexis’s breasts as she gave them a gentle squeeze, making Alexis moan and her body shiver. Her panties were getting wetter from the closeness of Blake alone as their mouths came together once more.
Releasing Blake’s tongue and bottom lip, Alexis shifted her body lower so she could remove Blake’s dress pants. She had to touch as much of Blake as she could before she exploded.
“Wait, wait, wait.” Blake hastily brought Alexis back to eye level with her hands as she kept greedily kissing her. She was like a woman in a desert who had finally found water, and Alexis was willing to be the flood. Alexis slid her hands up Blake’s shirt, but she tensed up under her touch.
“What?”
“Nothing.”
“You ok?’
“Yeah.” Blake planted a few more kisses on Alexis’s neck before framing her face with her hands. “I just wasn’t done kissing you.”
“You are so gorgeous, Blake.” Alexis pulled the bottom of Blake’s shirt up and placed kisses on her stomach. She wanted – no, needed – Blake to know she was serious about the words coming out of her mouth.
“Eh, you’re not so bad yourself.” Tenderly, Blake tucked a loose strand of Alexis’s hair behind her ear and licked her lips. Something in her eyes changed; the playfulness from a moment before was replaced with a palpable desire.
Returning her lips to Blake’s in a flurry, Alexis pulled Blake’s shirt off and slipped an arm under her to unhook her bra. Wasting no time, she brought her lips to one of Blake’s breasts and took it between her teeth, eliciting a moan from Blake as her body slightly arched. Alexis brought her tongue across Blake’s navel and stopped when she reached the waistband of her pants. She looked up at adoring eyes as she hooked her thumbs through belt loops and removed them with ease. Alexis was elated to find that Blake was wearing Star Wars underwear.
“Thought they’d help you get lucky, huh?” Alexis asked as she removed the final layer of clothing.
“I thought you might like them.” Blake winked at her.
Alexis positioned her face between Blake’s warm thighs and took in her scent. It was a smell that drove her crazy and one she would love forever. Blake inched down lower in anticipation and impatience, moving her hands from Alexis’s hair to the wooden headboard as her body quivered.
“Please.” Blake quietly begged from above, her body slightly arching as Alexis’s nose graced the inside of her thigh. Alexis reached up to lay her left arm across Blake’s rigid abdomen, steadying herself and keeping her squirming partner still. She moved her other arm around Blake’s thigh as she set her tongue to work, eliciting a squeal from Blake, who tightened her grip on the headboard in response.
Alexis worked her mouth into the places of Blake’s pussy she knew would send her over the edge. She brought her hand down from Blake’s thigh and gently placed pressure with her thumb on Blake’s clit, nearly sending her into release as she moved her fingers in small circles around the bundle of nerves.
“Oh my god! Alexis!” Blake breathily pleaded as her hips moved in rhythm with Alexis’s tongue. She moved her hand from the headboard and latched her fingers with Alexis’s hand that was still sprawled across her stomach. She was getting closer to climax by feeling Blake reach hers. “Lex, please.”
Deciding not to delay Blake’s orgasm, Alexis replaced her thumb with her mouth on her clit. At that contact and the audible suck of Alexis’s mouth, the orgasm exploded and Blake’s body convulsed with pleasure, arching in reaction to the sensation before falling back onto the bed. Alexis wasted no time as she removed her arm from around Blake’s leg and moved up to grab Blake’s mouth with hers.
Blake let out a long, deep moan as Alexis thrust her tongue into her mouth so hard that she was sure Blake could taste herself on her lips. When Alexis finally let go of her lips, Blake took in a deep breath of air before she grabbed the back of Alexis’s neck and pulled her back in for more. Their swollen lips connected as their tongues intertwined once more.
“You’re so beautiful, do you know that?” Blake separated their faces enough so they could look into each other’s eyes. Alexis ran her hands through Blake’s hair as she smiled. Post-sex Blake was a gorgeous sight to behold, and Alexis wanted to remember that moment forever.
“Nowhere near as beautiful as you are.”
“I’m not arguing with you right now.” Blake motioned for Alexis to prop herself up on her hands and knees as Blake moved her lips to each of Alexis’s breasts. She took each of them in her mouth one at a time and sucked so hard Alexis shuttered at the sensation. Reaching down between Alexis’s legs, Blake slipped two fingers under the cotton panties she had yet to discard. Alexis let out an audible cry of pleasure as Blake’s mouth continued to work greedily on her breasts and her fingers grazed her wet pussy.
But Alexis wasn’t done with Blake yet.
“What are you doing?” Blake scrunched her face up as she wrinkled her nose, making her look even more irresistible to Alexis. Alexis playfully pinned her hand above her head before she slipped two fingers inside of Blake, filling her up and sending shock waves through her abdomen in one move. She slowly pumped her fingers in and out of Blake as her whole body moved to the rhythm. “More?”
“Yes!” Blake breathlessly nodded while Alexis placed loving kisses across her chest. She gasped and grabbed hold of Alexis’s arm as Alexis pulled out and entered her with a third finger, moving her fingers in and out at a slow but steady pace. “Oh, Alexis. I’m right there.”
“Patience, babe.” Alexis was enjoying having the upper hand in bed. She’d never experienced the complete and total turn-on that accompanied it, and she
wanted to give Blake everything she wanted for letting her have her way with her. She pulled her left hand from inside Blake and replaced it with her right hand. Reaching for her hand, Blake slipped each of Alexis’s fingers into her mouth one by one, and Alexis nearly came at the sight of it.
Reluctantly pulling her hand free from Blake’s mouth, Alexis steadied herself so she could lean down and kiss the beautiful woman below her. Her hand was still moving slowly and consistently between Blake’s legs, and Alexis felt the wetness slowly dripping down her fingers. She settled herself against Blake, letting her breasts fall against her chest in an electrifying motion.
Blake reached up and grabbed Alexis’s face in one hand and kissed her quickly. Alexis was afraid she’d suffocate from the heat of their bodies and the pleasure building in her chest. Instead of breaking contact, Blake wrapped her other arm around Alexis’s neck and pressed their foreheads together, letting their hot breath stabilize with each thrust of Alexis’s fingers. The rise and fall of Blake’s chest quickened along with her fingers.
“Oh god!” Blake whimpered as Alexis watched the pressure build in her eyes. A bead of sweat fell from her forehead and into her ear as her neck arched back and her eyes rolled back in her head. “Lex...please,” Blake begged, bringing her face back to Alexis’s. “Please, please, please.”
Alexis felt as if every piece of her was about to explode in a thousand different parts, and she knew Blake felt the same. She coyly moved her fingers at nearly twice the speed she had started. Her body thrust forward with each movement of her hand, rocking against Blake’s and causing the bed frame to knock lightly against the wall.
“As you wish, babe.” Alexis’s fingers hit the spot inside of Blake that sent her back, shooting off the mattress before falling back down with a thud. Her own orgasm blurred her vision momentarily, but that didn’t stop her from enjoying the look of sheer bliss on Blake’s face. They stayed in their happy little world for what seemed like hours, their chests heaving and their bodies wanting more. It elicited a cry from Blake when Alexis pulled her fingers out and nearly made Alexis climax again.
