“Kid’s right,” Grayson said. “I like it.”
Drea walked up to Kyle, trying to hold back her happy tears. She wasn’t doing a very good job and the closer she got to him, the closer they got to spilling over. When she was right up next to him, she whispered, “I have brown eyes.”
“I know, sweetness, I named it for you.” He leaned down and kissed her lightly. “Now, how about we sail off into the sunset?”
“I’d love that,” she answered.
“And I love you.”
Acknowledgments
There are so many people to thank and reference, I almost don’t even know where to begin...
My family, friends, and sorority sisters, and most especially my parents – without whose daily support I wouldn’t be near the person I am today. Your love and support mean everything.
The Happily Editing Anns, who happily [pun intended] held my hand throughout this process and gave this girl the confidence she needed when she needed it. I couldn’t have asked for a better editorial team.
Anna at Cover Couture and Julie at the E-book Formatting Fairies, for putting up with my incessantly crazy questions. They helped this newbie feel like she might actually know what she’d doing, and I will sing their praises forever.
I feel that I would be remiss if I left out my oddly inspiring trips to the Publix at Woodlawn. A special thank you to the folks at the deli counter who seemed to always be the ones around when I had a brilliant idea.
This book really would not have been written if not for two people (and a puppy) and their support through all this:
My book bestie Lisa, who somehow realized long before I did that I had this story in me. I would not be on this journey if not for her “gentle” push. Everyone deserves a friend like her in their corner and I can’t begin to express how thankful I am that she is in mine
My amazing husband Drew (and the puppy, Denali), for never even questioning when I said “I’m writing a story!”. There is love, support, and loyalty...and then there is the new level to which Drew brings these things. Thank you for loving my particular brand of crazy. Ik hou van jou
About the Author
Claire Hastings is a walking, talking awkward moment. She loves Diet Coke, gummi bears, the beach, and books (obvs). When not reading she can usually be found hanging with friends at a soccer match or grabbing food (although she probably still has a book in her purse). She and her husband Drew live in Atlanta with their fur-child Denali.
