Demon Witch (Paranormal Hunter Academy Book 3) Page 12

by Rae Hendricks

Our best defense against Bianca and Reyes right now are to be in places that they might not want to attack; public, human places and to not be ourselves. To not be spotted.

The ride shouldn’t be long, though with Kagan and Dru both here as well as Willow and Ursula, both in human form to avoid having to be out in the cargo area, it will feels like a long ride.

I am sitting alone, for more than one reason. Kagan and I made a deal when we took this train and that was to avoid discussing anything that would make us fight. Our heads need to be in the war, not on each other right now. It will just have to wait.

I was also told the happiest news imaginable; Adriel sees no point in being apart anymore. The Magistrate will know tonight if they don't already that he has conspired against them all these years. So, he is going to meet us at one of the stops. He will be the one sitting next to me.

I know it’s supposed to be about coming up with a plan of action, but I can’t help but come alive at the idea that he will be here, next to me,. We get to be together in public.

  My mate; my match.

I hope it doesn’t make Dru feel inadequate. I haven’t quite mentioned to him that Adriel and I have made that bond. It didn’t seem relevant til now, but like everything else, that will take a backseat to staying alive, finding allies, and getting rid of the oppressors once and for all.

I am practically bobbing up and down in my seat, unable to rest or barely blink as I count the minutes until he is here with me again.

I have kept my thoughts off of him so I wouldn’t be devastated by his absence.

It’s strange how the human mind can literally have an on and off switch sometimes, or maybe that’s some other part of me. A strange perk of being a Demon Witch.

Finally, we stop, and my eyes find him immediately. I know he isn’t physically glowing, but to me, he is. It’s like there is a halo around his body as he moves toward me.

He sits down next to me, his hands cupping my face. My mouth hurts from how bright my smile is.

  “I can’t believe you’re here.”

“I can’t believe it either,” he says in a soft voice as the train starts gaining speed again, only having stopped long enough to allow a few passengers on board. “I know we have so much to do and talk about, but there is something important I have to ask you. It is crucial to the plan, but I would never force you if you weren’t okay with it.”

I give him a worried look. I never like when he has confessions for me. I’m always left reeling. But I listen anyway. “Go ahead,” I say cautiously, and he leans down to whisper it to only me. I can almost feel the others leaning in to try and hear what he’s going to say. But I doubt they can.

“Riley Graywood, will you return to Heaven with me and become my angelic bride?”

My intake of breath is all I can give him as I try to process what he is asking and what it means. Of course, my bond with him is pushing me to answer favorably. Not a single part of me wants to say no, but I have no idea what I would be getting into.

“Has anyone ever told you how crazy you are?” I ask him, my eyes showing my amusement, so he knows I am not rejecting him.

“A time or two,” he admits, nodding his head.

I know it will create complications even if I can’t name them, but I already know what my answer must be. There is nothing else in my heart.

  “Yes, when do we leave?”

“As soon as this train reaches its destination.”

  Coming Soon:

Paranormal Hunter Academy 4 – Angel Witch

  The FINAL Instalment.

Yes, yes, I KNOW I said this was it, and I thought it was until the moment I got to the last chapter. Riley’s story has a little ways to go now, and I hope you’re ready to see where she ends up.
