Bree
Monday came all too soon. Yesterday was another one for the record books. After spending the day on the beach we spent the night hanging around the pool drinking margaritas and eating delivery pizza. I even managed to flirt a bit with one of Ben’s crew. Skylar was very nice on the eyes. For the first time, I was able to flirt shamelessly with someone that wasn’t Tank. It was probably just the liquor talking but I’ll take it. He was easy to talk to, probably because he wasn’t really on the market. Yeah, he was single now but it was still too fresh. The story he gave me was that he came home after being on tour with the band this last time to find her in bed with someone she worked with. I let him vent for a bit which led me to explain my dilemma with Tank. He then proceeded to try and school me on how guys think. Skylar seemed to think Tank had a reason for keeping me at arms reach. I knew what it was but I didn’t divulge that piece of information to him. Being a twenty-four-year-old virgin shouldn’t be something I should be ashamed of but it didn’t seem like something to bring up to someone I just met but I know that’s why Tank pulled back. Tank didn’t want to deal with some fumbling fat chick when he could have his pick of over experienced Barbie doll types. Either way, I took his advice, let it run its course. Skylar said that I would get to a point where someone else would peak my attention. By the end of the night, we had exchanged numbers to keep in touch when I went home. With a gentle kiss on the cheek from Skylar, we parted ways. He went home and I stumbled upstairs for the second night in a row to catch some sleep.
It was now time to pack up to head home. When I woke, with yet another hangover, Romy and Avery were gone along with Layla and Ben. Lyla had a baby momma appoint, Izzy’s words not mine, and Avery was going for a final check-up before she would be transferring everything back home. Izzy was over excited by the fact that Avery had finally made her mind up to return to Great Falls for good. Nothing like waking up to good news before having to board a plane for the rest of the day. I was sad to be leaving yet happy that I would finally get to see my furbaby after four days. At the thought, I felt a pang of guilt. I’ve been so caught up with everyone here I hadn’t called since we landed Thursday night to check on my pup. Looking at the clock I saw I have just over an hour before we would be leaving for the airport. I decided to take the opportunity to take one last walk on the beach and call Queenie to check up on Diesel. I hope that I would have the chance to visit again but you never know.
The phone rang four times before she picked up. “Hello, beautiful girl. How’s the Pacific treating you,” she asked as I heard a loud bark in the background. “Hush now, big guy. Your momma will be home tonight. She’s going to think me and Hawk can’t handle you.” Bark! Bark!
I laughed listening to the one-sided conversation between Queenie and Diesel. I was still laughing when she directed her words to me, “he’s been fine this whole time, I promise. I haven’t heard a thing out of him except for when you called. It’s like he has a sixth sense or something. Sheesh! Now, enough about the pony, how are you, my dear? Have you been having fun?”
“Oh, Queenie, I’ve had a blast. I can’t remember having more fun than I have had this weekend. I miss Diesel but I sure would like to have a few more days out here. The beach is so relaxing. I hope Diesel hasn’t been too much trouble for you.”
“He’s been a complete gentleman. He doesn’t leave my side when I’m here at the house and is waiting by the door when I come home from the bar with Hawk.” You could almost hear Queenie’s smile in her voice. It distracting me for a second from what she actually said. She said came home from the bar. If Queenie was filling in at the bar hopefully that meant I would be too when we got home.
“You’ve been filling in at the bar while we’ve been gone? Does that mean I get to go back to work when we get back? That means me and Diesel can go home,” I said as the last part hit me hard. Crap! Looks like when we get home things will be going back to normal again. Just when I was finally feeling like I belonged I’ll be shipped off to my apartment. I’ll be left with Deisel alone.
I must have spoken my thoughts out loud for Queenie called me on it quickly. “Nonsense, girl. I was guarded like Fort Knox to and from the bar. I only went in to place the liquor order and look over the books to get the quarterly taxes sent off. None of us have really been cleared to do anything other than hanging out here or the clubhouse. Marley has a bit more freedom than most but that’s just because Ghost just keeps her around for a warm body. He’ll never make her an old lady so she’s not privileged to the full disclosure and protection of the club.”
“I’m not an old lady either Queenie. Nor am I a club princess like the rest of the girls, so I’m sure my freedom will soon be handed to me,” I answered sadly.
“Look, I’m not getting into this over the phone darling girl but know you might not be either of those things but you do belong to the Dominant Devils. Maybe it’s something to discuss with Tank or even Axle when you all get home. For now, stop worrying bout being shipped off to that depressing apartment of yours. You should be getting yourself ready to leave not worrying about this shit. I’m going to let you go for now. Breathe in those last few minutes of ocean air and I’ll see ya tonight when you get back. Until then, me and the horse dog are going to crash on the couch and catch up on episodes of Grey’s with a tub of cookie dough. Be safe, darling; we’ll be right here when you get home.”
“Okay,” I say hesitantly. “I’ll see you both in a few hours. Thank you again. Bye!” I hung up the phone and stared at the ocean for fifteen more minutes before turning on my heels and headed in to join the chaos of leaving.
When I walked back in the house it seems everyone was back from the doctors and was in the process of goodbyes. Layla had a smile on her face with tears in her eyes as she hugged and kissed everyone promising to visit as soon as the little rocker brat was born. The rest of us were sad to be leaving but we left the emotional outbursts to a very pregnant Layla. When it was my turn for her to address I wasn’t expecting the tight hug and kind words from her. While in her embrace she spoke quietly in my ear, “I hope you keep the new found confidence. Keep building it up, chick, and you’ll have the world eating out of your hands. Your too pretty to live quiet and bashful. Now go home and flaunt that newfound attitude in front of that a beast of a man you have waiting for you.”
I pulled back to respond but she just placed her finger on my lips silencing me as she spoke one last time. “I know you think he's not your’s, but everyone around you sees it. All you have to do is take what's your’s, babe. Don’t let me down. I expect to see you on his arm by the time we come to visit.” She pulled me in for a quick hug and then moved on to tell Izzy goodbye leaving me standing in the middle of the room dumbfounded. It wasn’t long before Ember made her way over to say goodbye and then Demi.
Once the jet was in the air everyone pretty much stayed to themselves. A few were reading, Romy was on her phone and the rest had their earbuds listening to music while Hunter and Tivie were occupied with a movie on the laptop. The flight home was a lot quieter than the trip out. I’m not sure if it was the solemnness of leaving or that everyone was hungover from the activities over the weekend but it was peaceful. I tried to read, myself, but ended up with my earbuds in with my favorite playlist taking me through the flight home. I’m not sure when I fell asleep but one minute I’m emersed in Dave Grohl’s voice singing about his hero and the next Trevor is pulling my earbuds out and yelling for me to get my butt moving. I was one of the last ones to walk off the jet finding several men standing outside that I had never met. I stood still watching Axle embrace Avery in a demanding kiss not wanting to interrupt or bump into either one of them trying to get in the van. Dang it, I want someone to kiss me like that. I want someone to kiss me without a worry in the world that someone might be watching or trying to control the endorphins sparking. My eyes moved from the couple in front of me to find the one who I knew would be able to bring me to my knees with just a kiss. Tank was stan
ding by his bike watching me like the lion stalking its prey. When our eyes met he shot me that sexy wink and grin of his making my cheeks turn several shades of red. That was my cue to duck my head and find a way in the van. Luckily for me, the two lovers broke free of each other allowing me access to the middle seat. I had just over an hour to get myself calmed down before having to face the man who haunts my dreams.
Tank
If I was a normal man I would have threw out a few apologies before we left for the airport after making an ass of myself the night before but I'm not a normal man. Besides I was still pissed those dickwads got to look at my woman rocking that sexy as fuck bikini. Yeah, I said my woman. At the end of yet another sleepless night, I’ve come to conclusion, Breeanna will be mine. Not sure for how long it’ll take before I fuck up but the only way to figure this shit out is to go for it. Fuck it!
With the help of half a dozen brothers from the Rowensville chapter, Axle, Wall and myself made the ride to the airport in Columbia. When we made a pit stop at some fancy-ass jewelry store Wall was the only one who chose to follow Axle in. Those two looked more like they were there to rob the damn place instead of shop. The boys from Rowensville were asking questions trying to figure out why we were stopped. I stayed quiet, just shrugging my shoulders in response. If I had to guess he was in there buying the biggest rock he could find for the hot little baby momma that’s had him twisted in knots for months. Not my business to tell or guess.
Once Axle was finished in the store we were on the road again. We arrived a good thirty minutes before the plane landed. The guys from Rowensville stood around each other smoking and talking leaving me to stand with a brooding Wall and a quiet Axle. “You two gonna tell me what the fuck the stop at the jewelry store was for?”
Wall looked at Axle, waiting for him to answer. Axle seemed to think a bit before changing subject bypassing my question completely. “So, what did you think of all the pictures the munchkin was sending of everyone’s good time over the weekend. I think the crew has officially corrupted that woman of yours, man.”
“You better step up fucker or I hear Blaze has plans for her,” Wall said trying to keep a straight face. He finally lost it though after he choked out, “that little scrap of fabric did little to hide what she has going on under all those jeans and tee shirts.”
“FUCK THE BOTH OF YOU,” I roared. “You don’t need to point out the fucking obvious ya know. Blaze gets within ten feet of Breezy and I’ll rip his fucking balls off!” At first, their laughter pissed me off, then I decided to even the playing field. “Until you two assholes get the shit fixed with the women that are pulling you around by your dicks keep your fucked up comments to yourself. Axle, I know your situation is different from mine, but Wall you’re no different than me, fucker. We’ve had two kick-ass chicks standing in front of us for years and yet we haven’t done a damn thing about it.”
“He’s got a point,” Axle says with a smirk looking at Wall. “Both of you two are fucking clueless and the funny part is, you’re just now realizing it. Honestly, if you guys aren’t gonna put the work in you’ll still be in the same spot this time next year. You’ll still be miserable assholes and the woman will be moved on with someone who gives a shit. Now, man the fuck up! Figure out a way to tie your bitch to you or keep your miserable asses to yourselves!” Axle was red in the face as he finished knocking the two of us down a notch. Wall was fuming. He was clenching his fist and breathing heavily. He looked like a raging bull with as big as his nostrils were flaring. I’ve know Wall my whole life and right now I knew he was pissed but wouldn’t act on it because Axle was speaking the truth.
I wanted to argue with my president and let him in on my plans to make Breezy mine as soon as she steps off this damn plane yet the stone look on his face had me swallowing my words back. His face alone was enough to let me know we would be discussing my outburst. I know Axle has had enough shit on his plate and my petty bullshit with Bree wasn’t helping. The drama with Wall and Madison’s has always seemed to be there normal with the exception of here lately. In the past, it was always Madison chasing after Wall. In a recent turn of events, it’s the other way around. The only problem now is that Wall’s come to his damn senses a little too late. Madison has seemed to finally give up on the idea of the two of them together and is making plans to move on leaving Wall to do the same thing he’s always done. I feel sorry for the asshole because I know where he's coming from. No doubt in my mind he’s always struggled with wanting more for her. He and I both know the girls deserve better than the likes of us. Breezy especially. Not taking anything away from Madison but she's been around since birth. She knows what to expect and has been raised how to handle anything this life throws her way. Bree, on the other hand, stumbled into my world almost falling on her face. She hasn’t a clue how being by my side could complicate her life.
If looks could kill I would’ve died right here on the spot. Wall said nothing but he made his agitation clear. He was able to mask it long enough to get the girls loaded in the van but before the prospects finished loading the bags Wall walked over to stand in front of me as I readied myself to leave. He stood silent for a minute or two while we stared each other down.
“Look, if you don’t want me to bust your balls over Breezy then step the fuck up and make her yours. Don’t be a douche like me and wait until it's too fucking late to go after what you want. Before you say anything, I know where you’re coming from, asshole. You think it's been all shits and giggles watching Madison prance around doing her thing. I’ve been watching from the sidelines for years thinking that I didn’t deserve her; knowing she deserved better than the likes of me. I’ve stayed away trying to protect her from me because we all know I’m a fuck up at times. The problem is, I was hurting her anyway. It took me a while to figure that shit out on my own and when I finally did it was too late. So now she’s moving on with her life and I’m stuck watching her do it. Mark my words, though, if Madison gives me any sign of making a go of us I won’t be as stupid. I’ll tie that bitch to me any way possible. Don’t be a dumbfuck like me. Go get your woman. Brand her, patch her and make her yours. You might want to do it soon, though. From the looks of things she’s coming out of her shell and she’ll eventually move on without your sorry ass. Hell, from what I saw she seemed to be having a good time talking to one of Ben’s assholes. She might have already moved on.”
Wall turned and walked back to his bike not giving me a chance to argue back. He hit the nail on the head with more than a few things. I was keeping myself away thinking Breezy deserved someone much better than me. I already knew that. I just hope it’s not too late because I know what asshole he was talking about. Romy made sure to send a flood of pictures to everyone. A few from yesterday painted a picture in my mind that has me thinking I’m in the same boat as Wall. Breezy was wearing the biggest fucking smile I’ve ever seen on her face and from the looks of the guy with his arm draped around her shoulders, he was the one who put it there.
The whole way back to the house images of her and the douchebag from the pictures raced through my mind. I was so lost in thought I almost blew through the only stop light in town. I ignored the “WTF” stare I got from Axle when I finally stopped and tried to push the thoughts out of my head. The asshole from the picture was in California and I’m here with her. Starting tonight, I’m going to show her that she needs me not some dumbass surfer boy from the other side of the country.
When the van came to a stop at the back of the house I pulled around and parked my sled on the opposite side of the deck. Leaving Axle to stop in front of the van and Wall to its side. They must be headed over to the clubhouse once everyone’s unloaded and secured in the house. I need to talk to Breezy before following them anywhere. I dismounted my bike and made my way up the deck to perch on the picnic table to wait for Bree to exit the van. I listened as Axle gave a quick rundown on the events they missed while in California before he and Avery carried their son upstairs to his bed. I
watched as Zeus pulled a sleeping Tivie out of her car seat before pulling Carrin in for a sinful kiss. Izzy, Romy, Hyde, and Athena were next to climb out and head inside while Doc and Boomer both pulled their women in for kisses and hugs before they too made their way inside.
Trevor was standing at the doors of the van saying something too low for me to hear even to Breezy. The only inclination that it was pertaining to me was the thumb he pointed over his shoulder in my direction. Trevor helped Bree and Madison out of the van before he followed Bree up the stairs leaving her to sit next to me. He held my stare in silence. I know the fucker was sending the protective big brother vibes my way. Sometimes I swear the fairy fucker is more protective of all these women the alpha assholes of the club. I still can’t wrap my head around the dude being gay. I’m not a homophobic prick or anything. Hell, it ain’t my place to judge people by people they sleep with or love. He just seems like a normal dude and when he tries to turn the “diva side”, as Romy calls it, it seems forced. None of the background information Happy pulled for Axle showed any relationships from his past except for one and that was with a woman right after he graduated. I guess he wasn’t always gay or at least tried the other team at least once. He’s been around for a few months now and I’ve never seen him look at any of the guys here with lust. It’s the opposite actually. I caught him staring at Izzy’s ass the other day. I didn’t say anything, though. Again it ain’t my place to say anything. Maybe he’s confused or I saw something that wasn’t there. Who the fuck knows? I’ve got enough trouble figuring my own shit out.
I sat next to the girl who I want to make mine while she had her head down. When she finally raised her head to look at the stars, avoiding all eye contact with me, I felt my breath catch. I’m not some lovesick sap, but with the black sky lit up with the stars as a backdrop to her silhouette I found it hard to breathe. She was fucking gorgeous! How the hell have I been avoiding what was right in front of me? It wasn’t just her looks and what I was feeling wasn’t just lust. It was so much more. She was the whole package. Suddenly the conversation I had with my mother a few months ago, the night of Bree’s attack, sprang to mind. I could finally see what my mother was talking about; Bree was the one to settle down with. She was the one I could come home to and lean on when I needed to.
