My mam and dad continue to be an incredible source of support in every aspect of my life. Who knew when you piled a steady stream of books in front of me as a kid that I’d end up writing them for a living? My kids – Lucy, Jake and our as-yet-unnamed bump of a baby girl – you’re my motivation for persevering long enough to bash out words on those days when the plot feels like it’s conspiring against me and the story won’t flow. My in-laws, Jude and Malc, and brother-in-law, Michael – thank you for all your support and for not holding me to the foolish promise I made to take all of Nic’s hoarded rubbish from your loft into mine.
