“Whatever they get into Destroy, I’m sure you’ve had your fair share and will know how to get them out of it,” Lore snarked.

  “Why me? They’re not mine!”

“Because you wanted to be a leader. Now you are.”

“But Enthrall’s back. I’m only part-time now.” He grinned, draping his arm around Rowan’s shoulders and crossing his ankles one across the other.

“Exactly,” Enthrall said. “The part of the time that the boys will need you to help them get out of trouble.”

  “What?!” Destroy asked plaintively.

Carolena had cut into the cake while the males were teasing each other and was handing out pieces to whoever lined up to get one.

Shane waited patiently for his slice, and once he’d gotten it, he asked for another. “Can I have another one?”

“Of course you can. Here you go,” Carolena said, handing him another saucer with a piece of cake on it.

“And can I have another fork, too?”

“Oh, it’s not for you?” Carolena asked, assuming Shane just wanted two pieces.

  “No, ma’am. It’s not.”

Carolena handed him another fork and though she continued handing out cake, she watched to see where he was heading with his extra slice of cake. When she saw what his plans were, she nudged Enthrall. “Hey, look at your boy.”

Enthrall still holding Felicity and kissing her while telling her how much he loved her choice of name looked around to see what Carolena was trying to show him.

Shane had two pieces of cake and was making a beeline for Deaumanique’. He stopped in front of Aubreigne and spoke to her. Aubreigne smiled and nodded. Then Shane held out the other plate to Deaumanique’. Deaumanique’ shyly took the plate from him and then followed him to a nearby table where they sat and ate their cake together.

“I think he likes her,” Carolena said.

“I think you’re right. Wonder where this is going to go?” Enthrall said.

“Stranger things have happened,” Felicity said, smiling as she watched the kids laughing while they ate their cake.

Shane was obviously telling her a story, his hands waving about as he described whatever it was he was telling her, to have her laughing as she did.

“It seems all is falling into place,” Lore said quietly, watching the kids sharing their cake.

“It does,” Enthrall said, turning to look at him. “And do not think I’m not aware that this party was your doing, for you. I’m just not sure what you’re up to yet.”

  “Me?” Lore said, feigning shock.

“Yes. You. Now, what is going on with you?” Enthrall pressed.

“No more than usual, my friend.”

“Something is up. You’re different. And you mentioned that you needed to be able to make someone laugh. And you’re interacting here, visiting with our people. Since when have you wanted to establish any kind of contact with anyone other than your chosen few?”

“You're mistaken, Enthrall. There is nothing to it. Except perhaps a bit of madness,” Lore smiled.

“Yes, well, I think there’s a method to your madness,” Enthrall answered, still waiting for Lore to explain his actions.

  “Do you now?” Lore teased.

  “I do!”

“Yes, well, perhaps, perhaps,” he said as he began to fade away.

“Lore! I want to know what is going on with you!” Enthrall called.

Lore’s likeness gathered once more, a smile on his face. He winked at Enthrall, but rather than speak to him, he called out to Destroy. “Be ready, Destroy! Our time is nearly at hand!”

“Our time? Time for what?!” Destroy yelled back.

Laughter was his only response. Lore’s laughter as it circled them, then, faded away.

Enthrall and Destroy locked eyes. “Have you repaid him for your favor?”

Destroy shook his head. “No. Not yet.”

“I do believe you will be doing so soon,” Enthrall said. He looked off into the distance, the last place he’d seen any trace of purple mist. “You will be soon.”

  About the Author

My name is Sandra R Neeley. I write Paranormal, SciFi, and Fantasy Romances. Why, you may ask? Because who doesn't love a good romance, and the lack of reality in the story lines — because, well, normal is highly overrated, so Paranormal it is. I’m 55, I have two kids, one 32 and one 12(yes, God does have a sense of humor), one grandchild, one husband and a menagerie of animals. I love to cook and am a voracious reader, though since I started writing I don’t get as much time to read as I once did. I’m a homebody and prefer my writing/reading time to a crowd. I have had stories and fictional characters wandering around in my head for as long as I can remember. I’m a self-published author and I like it that way because I can decide what and when to write. I am by no means a formal, polished, properly structured individual and neither are my stories. But people seem to love the easy emotion and passion that flow from them. A bit of a warning though, there are some “triggers” in them that certain people should avoid. I’m a firm believer that you cannot have light without the dark. You cannot fully embrace the joy and elation that my people eventually find if you do not bear witness to their darkest hours as well. So please read the warnings supplied with each of the synopsis about my books before you buy them. I’ve got four series published at this time, Avaleigh’s Boys - PNR, Whispers From the Bayou - Fantasy PNR, Haven - SciFi Romance, and Riley’s Pride - PNR, several short stories, and much, much more to come. I’m always glad to hear from my readers, so feel free to look me up and say hello.
