“Don’t mention it and call me Matt.”
Trent held out his hand. “Thanks Matt.” They shook hands.
“Yes, thank you.” Allison stepped up to him and hugged him.
He looked shocked at first but then returned the gesture. “You’re welcome.”
She let go and stood next to Trent, wrapping her arm around him. Jones got in his car and drove away. They continued on their way to the truck and met back up with John and Becca.
Trent looked out over the cemetery. Across the small dirt road, a man sat on a grave staring at them. He had shoulder length black hair and wore a gray jacket with jeans. A shiver went up Trent’s spine when they made eye contact and the hairs on the back of his neck stood.
He looked away and shook his head, but kept checking on the mysterious man out of the corner of his eye. It was nothing. Other people can be in the graveyard. Now he was getting paranoid.
Trent opened the door for Allison and Becca, closing it behind them after they climbed in. He got in behind the steering wheel and pulled away. Trent glanced in his rear view mirror before he reached the curve in the road. The man in the gray jacket walked to Ruth’s grave and knelt in front of it. Nothing to worry about. The nightmare is over…
