First War Page 11

by Nathan Valerio

With the berserk skill, it could really be a good skill to use in a tough situation especially in the hands of the right units.

He kept it stored, it would need a research scroll and all that and he wasn’t ready to start it yet. He first needed to check out some information.

For one, he was confused about the central temple, the religious organization and school he saw in the message.

He returned to his home and called for Valring, Adok, Morrath and Everrath.

He shared the information of the success and the information he gained.

Valring laughed madly after she heard the news. “My Lord, this is fantastic! I have heard legends of the demon priests but never expected to see them!” She exclaimed.

“Legends? Aren’t there many demon gods awake and equally numerous religions for them?” Akor asked.

“Alright, let’s clear that up first. For demons, religions are by nation. This ties in with the central temple you mentioned. The central temple is a building that houses all 3 main gods and 7 minor gods of each nation. By choosing and merging their teachings you build a religion among demons. Humans are more single god powers so each religion ties to a single god by itself but they are more powerful because of this.” Valring explained.

“Why have demons not done this?” he asked.

“There is, first off, this is a world system, demons need the temple full to make a religion because it gathers their ideas to form the teachings. As for why they are not powerful, well it is because the faith gathered is split among the gods.” She explained.

He suddenly understood. It had a strange unity among demons yet with the current demon race it felt very strange.

He tried to pull up the information and found it when he called it out.

  Central Temple

The central temple can also be called the Pantheon Temple. Within these walls, the territory’s patron gods are worshipped.

The temple can generate faith up to 20% of the city population per day. Faith is generated by prayers and offerings made to the gods within the temple. Religious ceremonies can also reward faith that does not count toward this daily limit.

“Alright so what about the religious school?” He asked.

“This is probably because of Pyarus himself. It is probably something special to him. But we should set up the religion by choosing the gods of the nation.” Valring suggested.

  “Master!”

At that moment a shout from a short imp came from the door and he ran in and bowed.

“Master! Army come! Army come!” he shouted.

Everyone in the room frowned when they heard this and everyone quickly stood and ran out to the wall.

At the front gate was the escaped army from the dark lord. It had appeared completely and there was a new figurehead. This one looked similar to the dark lord, but it was much smaller and had female features but they were quite young and undeveloped. She also lacked the large number of horns that the dark lord had but there were two small horns sprouting on her head.

  “Who are you?!” Akor shouted.

“Great Demon Lord who slew my father, I have come to submit!!” The demon kobold shouted.

Akor’s eyes raised and but the laughter of Valring came from the side. “This is great, tell her to come to the gate alone, my Lord.” She said.

“What is going on?” He asked.

“My Lord, you shall see.” She smiled.

After a moment, he nodded and turned to the army, “Then come to the gate alone.” He shouted.

After a few moments the figure began to walk calmly until she reached the gate. It slowly opened, and she walked in. Akor and the others were waiting. The female demon kobold’s name appeared in front of their eyes.

[Demon Kobold Demon Princess Level 3 90/90]

The fact that she had no name wasn’t strange since a demon wouldn’t get a name before level 10 if left without.

“Demon princess?” Akor questioned his advisor.

“Demon princess are the daughters of dark lords but they are also a similar class to dark lord but it usually appears only for children of dark lords and demon lords.” Valring explained grinning and turned to the princess. “Bow to the lord and pledge your allegiance.” Valring said in a commanding tone.

The princess looked at Valring and sighed before walking to Akor and bowed down with her lizard like legs and dropped to one knee. "I pledge my allegiance and that of my minions and subjects to the great demon lord.” she said.

  Ding!

A demon princess has pledged allegiance to you. Do you accept?

  Yes

  No

Akor looked at Valring who nodded.

He looked down again, and nodded, “Alright, I accept.” He said.

You have accepted the loyalty of a demon princess. All her subordinates have become your subordinates and all towns and villages have become yours.

Do you wish to take her as one of your queens or a concubine?

“Huh? Is it asking me to marry her?” Akor suddenly asked Valring.

“Of course, my Lord. This is the most common purpose of a princess. To marry a lord to improve his influence. That said depending on their abilities they get assigned to a lower or higher position. Truthfully, I had not expected my lord to get a princess so early.” She said.

“And a dark lord?” Akor asked fearful.

“They are turned into demon nobles.” She said without hesitation.

It dispelled Akor’s fears, and he relaxed. The demon kobold was still bowed but her look was at Akor waiting for her future to be decided.

“So what is the difference between the two?” Akor asked.

Valring closed her eyes and thought a while, probably gathering the information. “Ah that was it.” She muttered and opened her eyes. “A queen has more power, obviously. She can command the minions but all movements pass through my lord. She can also be handed a territory to manage by the lord. She is also responsible for bearing heirs for my lord but for the most part, queens are the biggest figurehead for any kind of thing the lord requires.” She said.

  “And concubine?” He asked.

“They are simply breeding vessels. They are without many influences, but they are regarded as a minion. If you allow it, they can have their own business and build their own forces. Like queens you can give them territory to manage but they can’t move armies or anything. They are just there to make sure the territory is working as it should.” Valring explained. "I suggest my lord takes her as a queen. A demon queen of a demon lord produces a great deal of influence for my lord and it is a sign of success when you obtain a princess. It might even make many demons join your territory of their own choice.” She advised.

Even with what she said, Akor was definitely thinking hard, this was marriage, even if only in game, he had not heard of such a thing happening before. Of course it was no secret that players play with NPCs but for there to exist such a complicated nobility system was quite new to him.

“Alright, I will take her as a queen.” Akor said after pondering it a long time.

  Ding!

You have accepted the demon princess as your wife. Her class has been upgraded to demon queen, and she has been granted the name ‘Idre’.

Due to accepting a demon queen, your influence among demons has increased. You will now attract weak demons to your territory and demon villages are more likely to submit without much intimidation.

A bright light fell upon Idre and slowly her figure grew a bit more majestic, especially the horns, but nothing else happened after that. She did begin to feel some pain as her body grew a bit as she was accepted as a minion and received the demon lord's blessing.

Finished with the ceremony, Akor decided to call the demons from the army to check out their numbers. A total of almost 1,200 were counted after splitting into squads of 100 each.

Together with the original army, the NPC army now numbered close to 2000.

  “Valring, take these dem
ons and go collect all the towns and villages that were under their control and bring them back to the territory. After you return, we will decide how to use the army.” Akor said.

“Of course, my Lord.” Valring said cheerfully and shouted at the demons to lead the way.

The army pulled back while Akor was followed by the others. “Now then, let’s go to the temple.” He said and headed directly there.

The temple was simple but grand. There were no excessive decorations, since it was still new, but it still had a great presence in it.

Inside the temple was very empty besides ten plinths. The most central one was shining a faint while light while the others were dull.

These statues were the god statues.

Akor looked at the glowing statue which had no form and was just a big block and walked up, and touched it.

  Ding!

As the lord of the temple, you have produced the greatest amount of faith for this god until now. You can choose the basic appearance of the sleeping god who has lost his original form.

Seeing this was surprising, but it was just another form of improving faith gathering. Akor imagined what the god could look like. He imagined a red demon which was very human shaped and didn’t have excessive dangerous parts. He wore a scholarly robe, a pair of glasses and held a book. His eyes would have an ancient feeling and within them would be an immense fountain of knowledge that few could handle as well as him.

When he finished, the statue shone and took the shape of a scholarly looking red demon holding a book.

The glowing lights rushed into the statue like light being sucked into a black hole.

  Ding!

Your primary god has been firmly imprinted into the territory’s mentality. Please pick the other 2 main gods.

The two block like statues next to Pyarus lit up this time. This was the process of building the pantheon. Touching the left statue, it opened the god system.

  Welcome to the God System

Akor ignored the active and sealed gods because it was asking for trouble to choose either of them and they probably wouldn’t have the types of gods he wanted.

Since he had picked Pyarus, the choice was removed. Also there were more gods compared to before meaning they were discovered during the last month. As he looked through them, he found that all the gods which would bring progress and improve among the demon gods that were sleeping. It really made him frown and wondered why no active god had any craft or anything. When he looked at the active gods, he found only evil gods and most of them were cruel and bloodthirsty.

He didn’t think much else, he already had some thoughts about what he wanted and picked Adaldir and Utia as the two other main gods. The image of Adaldir was similar to Pyarus, starting with a strong bodied red demon. Akor gave him a righteous aura while he wore full knight armor, holding a large shield and a long sword, but no helmet to show his face.

Continuing with his ideas, Utia was similarly a red demon but this time female. She was very beautiful with well endowed female characteristics, generous breasts and wide hips, with a beautiful humanized face, long black hair that went down to her waist and her eyes radiated wisdom while her aura was similar to what one would feel from a sage.

When he finished each respective representation, they shone and, the statues took the shape of his image but there were some parts that didn’t match. For one, the statue of Utia had smaller hips and breast but her muscles were more defined than what he had made which looked more motherly.

Adaldir on the other hand looked older like a veteran knight with a wild mustache and a full head of hair.

Please choose 7 minor gods for your Pantheon.

After the three main gods were the minor ones. Still from the sleeping gods he picked the other seven.

Rinja, Demon Goddess of Virtue and Marriage, Athos, Demon God of Fertility and Harvest, Cigyn, Demon Goddess of Animals, Thedione, Demon Goddess of Fire and Craft, Uvtia, Demon Goddess of Governance, Oaos, Demon God of Battle and lastly Dyone, Goddess of Earth.

The last one was the only non-demon god. As well as an active god, the reason is that it is an elemental god, or a god of magic, specifically of the earth. Of all 10 gods, it is the only active god. He picked her because elemental gods improve magic affinity but also because this goddess could improve the soil fertility.

As for why Akor picked a battle god, it was a good god who wished for just and fair battles between contestants.

Besides Dyone, Akor made an image for each of the gods, all of them based on the red demon because Akor became a red demon due to being a good demon in the first place so he felt it was good to represent the good demons through the red demon. Although Rinja did make Akor want to use the succubus but because he had never seen how a Tier 2 or 3 Succubus looked he decided not to do that.

You have created your Pantheon, god system analyzing their desires, ideals and philosophy to create a religious book of teachings.

Lights slowly began to rain down on the ten statues and began to gather above Akor. After close to an hour the lights formed into a large ball and slowly condensed into a gray book. It was plain as any book you would see in a random bookshelf but it was very large. Close to 70 cm wide and 100 cm long with an unknown number of pages. It was very heavy in Akor’s hand, which showed how heavy it is since Akor had 25 which could carry 125 kgs. For him to feel the book was heavy meant it was very heavy.

He turned and put the book down and opened it.

The letters shone hurting his eyes.

You have opened the book of god's, do you wish to change your class to priest?

  “No!” Akor instantly said.

You have rejected the class and are prohibited from reading the holy text.

Akor blinked and was flabbergasted that such a thing actually existed.

"I can’t read because I am not a priest.” Akor said frowning.

  “Master…” Everrath suddenly called.

He looked at the blue imp.

"I request that Master allow me to become a priest.” She said.

Akor was surprised but raising a brow he asked, “Why? Don’t you want to be a mage?” he asked.

“Mage or priest, both are magic users. Also I feel that the path of a priest in this religion will be a glorious one.” She said.

He tilted his head a bit before nodding, “Alright.” He nodded.

Everrath smiled slightly and walked forward and looked at the words. In front of her was the same text that had appeared in front of Akor.

  “Yes.” She said.

The book released a blinding light and light gathered from all the ten god statues raining down on Everrath. Everyone covered their eyes while the blinding light was shining but as it faded, everyone looked and what they saw was an amazing sight.

The blue imp had changed. Her body figure was very different but looked like a female version of Akor except with blue skin, in this case it was a blue demon while he was a red demon.

Your minion Everrath has been chosen by your pantheon as the pope of the religion. Under their holy power she has matured.

  Akor instantly pulled up her
stats to confirm this.

Looking at the stats, he confirmed that red demons were not the only type of ‘good’ demons. There might be other types of demons depending on affinity or class. Red seemed to be close combat while blue was more magical but the buff for maturing did not seem much different from red demon.

“How much did you change?” Akor asked.

"I have gained several class skills for recruiting. This is not restricted to the priest but also clergymen to train into paladins.” Everrath said respectfully.
