Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Xavier start crying, and so I squeezed his hand very tightly. “I love you more than life itself, Erika,” he whispered back, “and I’m the happiest man on earth to be marrying you today.”

And with that, I got to marry the handsome billionaire of my dreams, and at last it felt like everything in my life had fallen into place.

  Six Months Later…

“Erika?” I called across the room, “Have you read this?”

Erika was just coming out of our en suite bathroom wearing nothing but a towel. Her hair was still wet from the shower she’d just emerged from, and she looked so incredibly stunning I could hardly believe she was my wife for a few moments.

“What is that?” she asked, squinting to see the screen of my phone.

I flipped the phone back in my direction, and read, “Former Co-CEO of AccuTek Baron Franklin files for bankruptcy after wife Angela Olson flees country with his money.’” I put my phone down on my chest and raised an eyebrow at her. “Do you know what news source this came from?”

Erika looked innocent and shook her head. “I don’t, should I?”

“Well,” I informed her. “It happens to be from this brilliant site that my wife owns called NowNews, and this ground-breaking piece was written by the new editor-in-chief, Natalie Timmins.”

Erika avoided my gaze and went around to her closet. “Huh,” she said nonchalantly, “isn’t that interesting. How did I not know that had happened? That is my company after all.”

I pulled back the covers, jumped out of bed and followed her into the walk in closet that was now hers. “The next headline reads, ‘Xavier and Erika Franklin named wealthiest couple in the country after merger between AccuTek and NowNews after wedding’. Did... did you not know about that one either?”

Erika turned around and looked at me innocently once more. “I knew nothing about that either!” she said, mocking surprise. “Isn’t that interesting how things just kind of... worked out after we got married. It is almost as if you and I were meant to be together...”

She walked over to me, placed her hands on the side of my face and planted a kiss on my lips. I pulled away suddenly and said, “You’re just trying to distract me from the fact that you knew about all of this and didn’t tell me!” I cried.

Erika batted her eyelashes at me. “Me?” she asked, placing her hands on the top of her towel, “I’ve never tried to distract anyone in my life!”

I was, of course, immediately drawn to her bare collar bones, and then her bare breasts, and then her bare stomach, and then Erika’s towel suddenly dropped on the floor. She bent down to pick up but she looked uncomfortable doing that. I had been noticing this since few days.

“Erika,” I said. “Don’t take this the wrong way, but... Is everything okay? Do you need to see a doctor?”

Her face immediately turned red. “Doctor?” she asked, taking a few steps towards me. “Why?”

“I just mean,” I said, walking towards her and placing one of my hands on her lower abdomen, “that it looks like you... well, I don’t want to assume anything but… it looks like…”

“I am Pregnant?” she finished for me.

“Pregnant?” I wasn’t thinking that for sure. But I couldn’t believe what my ears just heard.

The biggest smile came over her face. “Yes Xavier, I am pregnant. Initially I thought I may have skipped my periods but followed almost for two months. And then I visited the doctor two days back and found out that I was pregnant. I kept it a secret from you as I wanted to give you a surprise this weekend.”

My smiled and my eyes widened. “I’m... I’m going to be a Dad?” I again asked in disbelief. Erika nodded again.

“Yes! Yes Xavier. You are going to be a Dad.” she said as tears rolled down my cheeks. “Are you alright?” She asked.

I nodded. “I just can’t believe it. We are going to be parents Erika!” I pulled Erika into me once again and kissed her forehead.

“It was such a hard secret to keep from you,” she said, “You are happy, right?” She asked as she looked into my eyes.

“Happy?” I asked as I cupped her face in my hands. “Erika, you’ve just made me the most deliriously ecstatic man on the planet. I...I love you so much.”

And then I kissed her. I kissed her for so long that our lips started to hurt, and then she began taking off my clothes and before long, we were making love right there on the floor of the walk in closet. When we were done, I held her for as long as she would let me, and then I led her into bed and we fell into a deep, blissful sleep. I couldn’t believe how my life had changed so drastically in a matter of months, but I knew I wouldn’t have it any other way. Erika was the woman I was destined to be with, and I was so grateful that we had the chance to be together forever.
