  ORIGINS

  Introduction

Before you proceed I must warn you, for what you are about to read might alter your perception of that which you call reality. This is no ordinary tale about heroes taming dragons & slaying legions of demons. This is no mere tale about love & betrayal. What you hold now in your hand is a book of chronicles which holds the true story of a warrior; his trials and feats, his friends and their foes; his world and its pain. Aye, this is the tale of a hero you do not know.

This book of Chronicles is the first in its series and for better understanding is written in the tongue of Men; for the children of Earth.

The Earth which you call home has a twin, also located in the Milky Way, called The Prime Circle. This planet is made up of seven distinct continents spread across the Manus. Each of these more technologically advanced continents is its own Kingdom; one country, one principal leader.

Each of these Kingdoms holds a piece of The Prime Light. As a result of the Mystical essence emitted from the seven pieces of the Prime Light more varied life forms and mystical creatures exist on The Circle than on your world.

It is believed that anyone who wields all seven pieces of the Prime Light will have power over death itself.

Each piece of the Prime light is protected by a Guardian. Guardians of the light pieces on Xadonia, Ratasu, Buldo, Seva and Prime Star are called Crown Nobles. The Guardian of the light piece on Cynax is called The Sentinel. The Most Powerful of all Guardians, The Prime, protects the light piece on Arvilon.

All Guardians, when in the state of Ren, are strong enough to punch a hole into a German Tiger Tank using their bare hands. A level 5, 6 and 7 Guardian can reach maximum speeds of 60m/s, 80m/s & 120m/s respectively, on land. They all have serious regenerative capabilities; broken bones, if ever sustained, only take a few minutes to heal.

All Guardians require serious training before they can master their special and peculiar abilities.

  Chapter 1

  Red Dragon

"She advances towards the castle my lord!"

"You know Ragnal, why does it always have to be a castle, why not a cave or somewhere less expensive!"

Blaze, his longtime friend, Ragnal Kalkrof, and a small team of Arvilonian soldiers handpicked by Ragnal himself where on a hunt. The Arvilonian soldiers rode on Rovlins; white horses with wings covered in frost; these level 2 Syt creatures are cousins to the Pegasus on Earth. The prince and his merry men were trying to catch a renegade red dragon that had left its home on Dragon's Isle after trying to eat its Guardian.

The chase took them through the bustling canyons of Jocyris, Parola's Vila and the huge factory of Merry Pops just a few leagues from The Prime Castle. Initially, Blaze had planned to let Crown Noble Suraya handle it when she was done with her monthly routine check of The Red Forest. But considering the amount of damage it was causing... He just couldn't say no to Nis's plea for assistance in taming the beast anymore; especially now that it had landed on his doorstep. Taking down this big-lady-with-a-fiery-roar would not be easy; even for the son of Kalahan the Great.

The fact that red dragons were considered sacred throughout The Circle and were not to be killed, only served to complicate matters the more.

Now, how this particular dragon was able to cross the border of two Kingdoms in one day is another story altogether.

  ...

It all started when word got to Hazu, the new Guardian of Xadonia, that a certain dragon was causing trouble on The Isle.

Xadonia is home to some of the greatest warriors ever known. It is also the second smallest kingdom amongst the seven. Most Xadonians are level 2 Myt creatures. The Crown Noble of Xadonia has the special ability of Creation Syt which enables him or her to manipulate metal and earth. Most Xadonians look like the English citizens on Earth. Crown Nobles of Xadonia possess the peculiar ability of been able to see up to 3 days into the future when they meditate in a Xadon Circle.

Hazu ordered the electric barriers surrounding the volcanic paradise be brought down so he could investigate the issue …personally. On arrival, he was welcomed by an angry dragon which had previously been bullying its own kind on the island.

Seeing that there was no reasoning with this smug fellow, Hazu gave it a powerful punch made of earth which launched it high into the sky. While soaring through the air, the dragon came back to its senses and spotted the shiny STS (Ship Teleport Station) located at the northern edge of The Isle. Conveniently the STS had just opened up a teleport gate for passengers going to Prime Star.

Seeing that the dragon had changed its course Hazu began to fly. Speeding towards it on a surfboard made of metal he called out for the barrier to be activated again. The chase was short-lived. The dragon was able to cross the barrier just in time to escape from Hazu. Who was now falling, after crashing into the fully raised barrier. But not before he had sent a huge chunk of rock flying towards the smiling dragon. The dragon crashed into the Prime Star open teleport gate on the STS and arrived early for the Festival of New Sun.

Weary due to its injuries, the dragon decided to rest at the crash spot for a while. However, being a level 5 Myt creature, it would not be long before this fat lady sang again.

  ...

All living creatures in the universe are classified according to their power levels, of which there are seven in total. Each power level is further classified into three power states.

Syt, the first power state. In this state, the creature possesses the ability to manipulate matter and in rare cases to absorb some amount of universal essence (which launches the creature into a state of higher control). The kind of matter that can be controlled differs with every individual and the level of control increases exponentially with an increase in power level. The more a creature uses its powers, the greater the energy toll it takes on the creature's body.

Myt, the second power state. In this state, the creature possesses speed, strength, and unique regenerative abilities. Some level six Myt creatures are able to travel from one small town to another with a single jump and can survive being blasted three consecutive times by a standard AAM (Air-to-Air Missile).

Maximus, the third power state. In this state, the creature possesses both Syt & Myt abilities. Very few creatures exist with this power state.

  ...

The dragon woke up surrounded by people wearing dragon masks wielding lit torches. since she was now a considerable distance away from her warden she decided on a break to grab herself some running and actively screaming snacks.

The Festival of New Sun was the only annual traditional festival still widely celebrated in The Kingdom. It was held in honour of the 11th Guardian of Prime Star; a warrior who ran the black dragons that originally lived on the continent into extinction. As the people of Prime Star had come to discover, these dragons were mostly found living in areas filled with precious stones and other shiny minerals. The capital of Prime Star is named after their 11th Guardian; Sinlong.

The very optimistic ruler of Prime Star kept assuring his citizens that the dragon would be shortly taken care of. His son, Nis, knew warriors were needed for this kind of job, something Prime Star was short on these days, so, he did what any responsible future Guardian would do; he called for help.

With Prime Star having the highest number of STS's it wasn't long before the red dragon found its way into a teleport gate leading to Prime City.

  Chapter 2

  Crossing the line

With all the commotion that was
going on, Milo decided to go visit her friend, Lima, a princess of Arvilon. She was currently in Lima's chambers located on the east wing of The Prime Castle.

The Castle walls, home to The Guardian of Arvilon, are made out of a mystical fusion of rock, gold and aquamarine. It sits as a remarkable 7 storeys tall and 3 acres wide(castle grounds inclusive); a piece of architectural excellence.

Kalahan was, at the moment, having a Prime Rest as he had just performed a Crowning on Xadonia only six days earlier.

There are cases in which the power state of an individual can be dormant. In such cases, a boost from a creature of level 4 Syt/Maximus or higher can make the power state active again. However, only a Prime Sovereign can crown a new Guardian by activating and increasing the power level of the chosen individual. This only happens if the fallen Guardian to be replaced has no kin to succeed him or her. Once a Prime carries out a Crowning, he becomes abased to the physical plane and can no longer ascend to the state of Phoenix. That is until he takes the Prime Rest: a state of hibernation which takes seven days to complete.

Blaze was still talking to Nis when he first sighted the dragon from afar making its debut as the first dragon to cross the border of Arvilon in more than a thousand years.

Arvilon is the home of a Prime and it is truly a wonder to behold. It is the smallest amongst the seven kingdoms (in land area) as it is barely up to the size of Madagascar on Earth. Citizens of Arvilon possess generally high moral conduct and exist as level 2 Maximus creatures. They have the Syt ability of Joreh which serves as an enhancement to three physical senses; smell, hearing and vision.

The spellbound walls of Arvilon didn't help matters much as they were meant to keep dark creatures out not sacred dragon pirates in search of treasure. And what could be more precious than Blaze's sister. Who was now screaming her eyes out at the sight of the large beast flying towards her chambers at full speed. Blaze had originally tried to get the dragon to stop by wrapping it in a long metal chain, but it had broken free, grabbed the chain, and flung Blaze into Lima's chambers.

While recovering from the shock he had received breaking through the wall leading to his sister's room he greeted his sister and her friend good morning, lingered a while when his eyes caught sight of Milo, then channelled a burst of energy into one stride. This sent him flying back into the battlefield. With an arm filled with energy and wrapped in lightning, he delivered a well-timed blow to the head of the red pirate which was flying towards his sister's room.

As Blaze stood upon the fallen beast which was now sound asleep, Ragnal who was standing next to him smiled and said, "You really are your father's son!"

After he had freshened up, Blaze decided to check on his sister. Barely a second after knocking on the door, an excited princess flung it open and drew him into her room.

“Wow! I guess it's safe to say you're holding up pretty well after what just happened.” Blaze exclaimed.

“Are you kidding? It was amazing! The way you looked that demon in the eye and said heh! You're not gonna touch my sister and then BAM! You went flying towards it like a lightning bolt. Saving not only me but also my very good friend here. (drawing him closer to Milo). Who by the way has been dying to meet you…”

"Well, technically Dragons aren't demons and…"

"Well, I know you two have a lot of catching up to do so I'll give you two some privacy, bye!" Lima cut in as she fled from the room.

Before Blaze could say anything else, Lima had closed the door behind her and here he was. Alone. Staring into the eyes of a princess whose aura seemed really alluring to him.

Milo was from Prime Star and was Nis's Cousin.

Prime Star is not only the most technologically advanced sphere in The Circle but is also one of the most beautiful kingdoms to live in; second only to Arvilon. It is home to very happy people and conflicts rarely take place on The Star. Most natives of Prime Star look like the Chinese and Japanese citizens on Earth. The Crown Nobles of Prime Star have the special ability of Volus Syt which allows them to reach speeds of 120m/s. They also possess the peculiar ability of been able to phase through objects when vibrating at high frequencies.

They sat on the king-sized bed and talked awkwardly for a while on different topics. Who her favourite singer was. Why he kept addressing her as Princess Milo. And how being of royal blood was overrated. When Blaze had run out of ideas, he stood up to leave, then stopped, took a deep breath, turned around and asked, “Would you like to hang out sometime, you know like when you're free and…”

“Prime Gardens, tomorrow morning by eight. Don't be late.”

On leaving the room, Blaze, still wearing that silly smile a boy has when his crush says "Yes", discovered his sister had been eavesdropping the whole time. She'd called some of her friends to assist her. In the next few hours, the tale of Blaze and Milo spread like wildfire amongst the nobles in Prime City.

  Chapter 3

  Son of a Prime

Later that night, the Queen had a long talk with her son, who was sitting on a couch next to where his father lay, deep in sleep. She talked to him about the dragon incident, his duty as a Prime Heir and why he needed to go out more.

The first son of a Prime inherits the Power Essence of the father. However, even though he bears the basic traits of a Prime, he can only enter the state of Phoenix after he completes two trails. The final trial unlocks his full abilities as a Prime. It is also the first time he's allowed to wield Aiden's Triumph, the most powerful twin blades ever forged on Buldo. The twin blades help a Prime to control his power when he enters level 7 Maximus, also called the state of Phoenix. Without the blades, a Prime finds it extremely difficult and painful to move into level 7 Maximus without losing control. When a Prime launches into level 7 Maximus without the blades, it is called the state of Blue Phoenix and it is only activated by extreme levels of emotional pain within a Prime.

On a normal day, the Prime exists as a creature of level 5 Maximus. He possesses all the special abilities of the other six Guardians and can manipulate them just as well as they can. However, each other Guardian possesses one ability peculiar to he or she which the Prime does not possess.

The son of a Prime is crowned Prime Sovereign only after the death of his father. Until then, he's called the Prime Heir. In the entire Circle, only a Prime can ascend to the state of Phoenix.

When Blaze felt he had heard enough of his mother's history lessons, and subtle pleas for a grandson, he stepped out to the window balcony to get some air. He thought back to the time when he was about to begin his 1st trail. How Natia's only daughter, Suraya, had been the one person who understood what he was going through at the time and had helped to make his burden lighter. He remembered the time they went tree swinging in the huge orchard behind the Temple of Nobles. How she had tripped and missed a vine and the speed with which he swooped in to save her; even though she needed none. How time seemed to lay back and chill whenever they looked at each other. How he had ignored the one person his heart really longed for. "If only you had taken the leap", he said to himself, but that was sixteen years ago. Ever since he completed the Trail of Resurrection, he had buried himself fully in his responsibilities as Prime Heir. Now, he had found someone who managed to jump-start that part of his heart back to life; a part he had long buried.

Some minutes later, a well-bearded man was now standing next to him, and in a subtle tone, meant to tease, began to speak.

“While I sleep, you maintain the glory of Arvilon, render a Dragon unconscious with a single blow, but freeze the moment you meet a princess?

“Ah, dad, not you too!" Blaze chuckled, clearly happy to see his father awake.

“It's not my fault; your mother makes a strong case you know.” Kalahan countered.

“You don't miss anything do you!”

Kalahan placed his hand on Blaze's shoulder and replied, "Not when it has to do with my son's heart. Now tell me, what be the name of this
fair maiden I've heard so much about?"

Blaze, still looking at the beautiful stars that decorated the Arvilonian sky, gave off a sigh and replied with a soft endearing tone "…Milo."

  …

A few months after the events of the red dragon, Blaze & Milo were married and believe it or not, Kalahan the Great danced his legs off at their wedding. Four years later, a son with beautiful blue eyes was born.

  Chapter 4

  Blue Eyes

"Would you really die for me?

  Could you bear me forever then let me go;

right into the arms of another.

  Ain't a lie I know,

  our time indeed will come.

Tell me the truth we know,

where does our love spring from.

Is it the Pain that draws me in,

or the Love in your eyes?

  The things that we'll see,

or the places we will go?

  Is it a legacy we'll keep;

  or darkness untold?

  My love …come home.

  My love …come home."

1st Stanza from Blind Love: by Jakita Selva

For some strange reason, this was the only song which could put her son to sleep. Whenever she sang, his large blue eyes would go wide, so wide that she could see her reflection in them. He would stare at her for a while. Lift up one of his little baby hands towards her and put on the most adorable smile. Afterwards, he would close his eyes and sink into a deep sleep.

When he was two, his mother blessed him with a brother who had golden brown hair. His brother was given a Cynaxian name, "Jimmy". A decision taken by his father to honour the friendship he and his best friend shared. Blade, his father's closest friend, was not only the Guardian of Cynax but was also Slyfar's favourite uncle.
