Kiernan sensed Gideon was uncomfortable. He indeed was socially awkward but in black fitted jeans and a matching collared shirt, he should be quite the catch.
For someone else?
Although Kiernan mentioned it earlier, he wasn’t sure he’d like it. A ping of jealousy quickly rose in his gut.
Gideon was his human, not anyone else’s. Neither Kiernan or his host liked to share.
As much as he would’ve liked to find someone to have for a night or two, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t want Gideon. Perhaps the doctor was correct to be concerned with how close they would get — with or without sex involved.
Chapter Six
Gideon wasn’t sure what to order.
Other than a glass of wine every so often, he didn’t drink liquor. Instead of agonizing over it, he ordered two glasses of pinot wine, ignoring the bartender’s glare, and left. Since Kiernan didn’t specify what he wanted, Gideon guessed it was good enough.
As Gideon made his way through the crowd, he tried his best to stay calm. He wasn’t a big fan of crowded spaces, especially in small areas. While maneuvering through, he refused requests for his number and sprinted to the pool table. Catching his breath, he placed both glasses down, then grabbed his chest as he sat.
“You okay?” Kiernan asked while rubbing the chalk on his stick.
“Yeah, um.” Gideon blew out a ragged breath and took a large sip.
“Wine? Gideon…”
“Hey, you didn’t say what you wanted so —”
“True, but you know drinks better than me. My host wasn’t a wine drinker, so I think I’ll order a beer. Can you handle those?”
“Yep.” Gideon said without hesitation, already finished with the first. He picked up the other and thought better of it. “Did you want me to get it?”
“No. I’ll wait for the server. Let’s play.” Kiernan put the chalk down and racked up the balls.
“You’ve played pool?” Gideon had already sipped the second. He closed his eyes tight, then reopened them again, sensing the liquor blurring his senses. It had been a while since he had a drink, but he didn’t think his head would swim this quickly.
“My host did. He was actually rather good at it too, but he didn’t know how to keep score. He used it to get what he wanted quite a bit.” Kiernan winked and pulled the rack away.
Gideon ignored it, shaking his head out of the fog. “I’ve gotta ask you more about the host thing when we get out of here. It’s truly fascinating.” He tried keeping the subject on science.
“I thought I told you everything?” Kiernan leaned over the table with the stick in hand, aimed at the cue ball.
“Well, you told me some but the whole thing about how information um…” Gideon put the wine down on the ledge. Eyeing Kiernan bending over distracted his train of thought. In no time flat he went from thinking of the alien’s brain process to how sexy he looked in that position.
Dang hormones.
It had been a while since Gideon had sex, so of course he was aroused beyond belief. Kieran’s flowery scents or seeing him wearing one of Gideon’s shirts didn’t help either. His pheromones must’ve been working overtime.
“Okay. I’ll answer your questions later. For now, let me concentrate.”
“Sure.” Reluctantly, Gideon dropped his gaze to focus on the table and forced one hand into his jeans pocket.
Kiernan pushed the stick through his fingers, making the cue ball hit several balls, driving two into the same pocket. “Wow. I got two points.”
“It’s not scored with points, it’s the number on the balls. Do you remember which ones you hit in? Stripes or solids?”
“Hmm.” Kiernan strolled around the table, then lifted them from the pocket. “Two striped. One was 15, the other 11.”
“Alright. So, twenty-six and I’ll be solid.” Gideon drank, then got up from the stool. He grabbed the stick and chalk. “I gotta warn you, I’m not that good.”
Kiernan snorted. “It’s fine, Doctor. We’re learning together.” He patted his shoulder. “I’m going to track down a server.”
“M’kay.” With Kiernan walking away, he was less nervous and not as distracted. He focused on the ball and pushed the stick. It jumped, not going anywhere near the solids. “Well, damn. I’m no good at all.” Gideon snickered to himself.
“Gideon, did you want another glass of wine?”
“Please.” Gideon figured a few glasses wouldn’t make him overly drunk. Just slightly tipsy, which could be a problem considering his current condition. Still, he wanted to make the best out of it to prove to Kiernan he wasn’t a total dud.
“You’re still a dud.” Kiernan strolled over and bumped Gideon with his hip.
“Hey! I’m, trying to concentrate.”
“So, you won’t hit anything again. Don’t think I didn’t notice your mistake just a couple of minutes ago.”
“Haha.” Gideon bit his bottom lip and shoved the stick again. This time he bumped one of Kiernan’s stripes. “At least I hit something.”
“That you did.” Kiernan laughed and turned around when the server approached.
Gideon pulled out his wallet, but Kiernan waved him off and plucked a card from his money clip.
“Hmm. No wallet?” Gideon said putting his away as the server walked off.
Kiernan grabbed his stick. “He kept money and everything in his back pocket. Why I don’t know because that isn’t safe. He was careless and sloppy. Always losing things and… ugh. Not the model citizen he should’ve been.”
Gideon shrugged and grabbed the glass, sipping slower this time. He took another then set it down on the ledge, fighting with himself not to touch Kiernan’s backside.
“You’re allowed, Doctor.” Kiernan grinned and moistened his lips, before eyeing his target once more.
Gideon rubbed the back of his neck, purposely looking away. He tapped his foot, then checked his phone for messages.
“Don’t be shy, Gideon. If you want to touch me, please do.” Kiernan waggled his eyebrows.
Gideon smiled wryly. “Flirt.”
“Can’t help myself.” Kiernan took a shot and straightened when the cue ball hit two more stripes. One rolled into the corner pocket. “Got another one.”
“Yep.” Gideon leaned against the wall, drinking more of his wine. Between losing the game, his focus, and composure, this fun evening was quickly turning into anything but. He’d need a couple more glasses just to relax.
Good thing Gideon didn’t have to drive when they were done.
Five or six glasses, and many games later, Gideon no longer cared about Kiernan besting him. They had drawn a small crowd, particularly because of Kiernan’s marksmanship. However, as time went on, they departed, leaving Gideon and Kiernan alone again.
“Seven in the corner pocket.” Kiernan tapped it, then bent over the table. It appeared Kiernan had purposely unbuttoned his shirt enough to reveal more of his muscled chest.
Dang.
Gideon bit back a moan and licked his lips. He’d already rubbed Kiernan’s shoulder and back a few times when they got close.
The more liquor he’d consumed, the less concerned he was about getting too involved.
“Yes, it won’t be.”
“We dunn ...noo that. Just finish.”
Kiernan shot and waited for the last ball to go in. He held up his hands. “I won again.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Can we leave now?”
“Where are we going?” Kiernan placed the stick on the table and sauntered in Gideon’s direction. Obviously, the libations Kiernan drank didn’t affect him in the least.
“Home. You wan…na go shopping, right? The earlier the better.”
“Oh Gideon. It’s not even two a.m.” Kiernan whined, taking Gideon’s hands into his. “Who wants to be in this early for the weekend?”
“Me because I’ve gotta work Monnn…day.” Gideon slurred his words and leaned on Kiernan’s shoulder. In this condition, he could barely keep his e
yes open.
“That’s Monday, not Sunday. How about we find a happening dance club to close out the evening?”
“I… no… can’t.” Gideon straightened and slipped his hands from Kiernan’s. In turn, Gideon grasped his. “I can’t… it’s hard to see. I need my bed.”
“Can I join you then?”
“Fine. I ppp…romise you I won’t be good… uh… good company.”
Kiernan sighed aloud and flashed a smile. “Alright, but we must go out dancing before I leave. Maybe I can invite Elijah and Jaxon with us.”
Gideon sensed his knees getting weaker. He pinched the bridge of his nose. “Who the hell are they?”
Kiernan snorted. “Remember I talked about my ex and his man?”
“Why the he — heck would you wannnaaa hang out with an ex? I’m not good enough?” Gideon snapped.
Apparently shocked at Kiernan’s response, his eyes widened. He grabbed Gideon’s hands. “Um… I just thought — ”
“No. I’m ready to go.” Gideon stormed in the opposite direction, pulling Kiernan with him. If he allowed Kiernan to make any more decisions, he wouldn’t get home before dawn.
* * * *
Despite Gideon leading Kiernan away like an insolent child, Kiernan found his forcefulness endearing. He clasped his hand tightly while ordering the hired car, then reminded Kiernan how toxic hanging around ex boyfriends and their lovers could be.
Perhaps Gideon had forgotten that Kiernan was an alien and Earthly emotions didn’t apply to them.
Admittedly, Kiernan was a little jealous, but only because the one he cared for built a life with someone else. But the more time he spent with Gideon, those feelings disappeared.
When they arrived, Kiernan carried Gideon inside the house and lay him gently on the bed. As he started unbuttoning his shirt, he stepped away. He had conflicting emotions about what they should do next. Before tonight he was anxious to mate with Gideon, but now he wasn’t so sure.
Besides, just how much fun could they have with the doctor being drunk?
“Alright, Doc, we’re home. Are you okay with me stripping your clothes off?”
“Huh?” Gideon turned slightly but didn’t open his eyes. “How did we…”
“You hired a car.” Kiernan removed his shirt and tossed it aside.
“Wow.”
Kiernan looked over his shoulder. “What?”
“You…re, well, damn Kiernan. I didn’t realize how much better you look out of clothes than in them.” Gideon was still sprawled out over the mattress. He propped himself up on his elbows and smiled at him.
Kiernan snorted. “Thanks. Are you feeling a little better?”
“Much. I kind of wish I… had more wine, but…”
“I got some when I went to the store earlier. I wanted it for dinner later, but if you want it now.”
“I do or… no, scr…atch that.” Gideon said without hesitation. “I’m soo…rry I was kind of a sour sport, but I’d much rather have a private party with you.”
Kiernan gasped, feeling his cheeks redden. He spun on his heel, away from Gideon’s hungry gaze. “Doc…”
“You don’t have to call me that. I’m not at work.”
The bed squeaked behind Kiernan. He hadn’t moved from the opposite side of the room. He closed his eyes, sensing Gideon’s pulse getting louder in his ears. Gideon’s heat reached his naked back and shoulders. He bit his bottom lip, feeling his suctions throb under his skin.
Before he could react, Gideon grabbed his biceps and forced him backwards, causing him to crash into Gideon’s chest.
More than aroused, Kiernan closed his eyes and moistened his lips. “Gideon?”
“Yeah?” Gideon’s voice had dropped an octave. He slowly curled his arms around Kiernan’s middle. “Wow. Kiernan had a tat?”
“A what?”
“Ink on the back of his neck. Looks like a buddha.” Gideon inhaled deeply and groaned. “You look and smell delicious.”
Damn.
Kiernan had finally gotten to the doctor’s head. Being that Kiernan hadn’t mated before he left Necetune, his pheromones must’ve been more potent. Unlike others on his planet, he wished to wait to copulate, just another reason he made the trip here. He wanted to know what it was like to have sex without the worry of getting pregnant. “Gid…deon.” Kiernan stuttered. His first instinct was to pull away, but his entire body throbbed with want.
“You want this and me, Kiernan.” Gideon whispered in his ear and lightly bit it. He dragged his tongue from his lobe on down the side of his neck. He stopped to suck, before moving on to the next spot. Again, he repeated that action while toying with Kiernan’s stomach.
“One of your preferences is… ooh…” Kiernan got lost in the feeling of his skin being nibbled on. “Shi… oh fu…ck.”
“Yeah I love biting and being bit. You taste so good.”
“Oohhh… Gideon, please.” Kiernan was in trouble. Not only had his alien-self sensed his arousal, his human body parts tingled. He allowed his head to fall back on Gideon’s shoulder enjoying what the doctor did to him.
“Please what, Kiernan? Don’t tell me you wanna stop now when we’re just getting started.” Gideon whispered in his ear then trailed light kisses and nips on the back of his neck.
“Oh Gideon, yes, I...” Enjoying what Gideon did, Kiernan’s breaths labored. His alien and human hearts beat in unison. His vision blurred, not allowing Kiernan to focus or think. His legs wobbled, almost to the point he couldn’t keep his balance.
I need to…
Kiernan’s heart and mind warred with each other. He should pull away, but his body felt too good to retreat.
“I got you. I want you, Kiernan.” Gideon spun him around. He pressed their foreheads together.
“Yes.” The word escaped Kiernan’s lips. He shivered in Gideon’s hold and placed both hands on his collar.
Gideon straightened and met his gaze. “Wanna help me un…undress?”
Fuck.
Though Kiernan desired Gideon, he had to think of the consequences. He’d be taking advantage of this man. Someone he held in high regard. He’d probably regret it later which would cause a huge rift in their new friendship.
And again, Kiernan was leaving. Gideon already voiced concern about getting emotionally involved and giving in would add to problems Kiernan might not be able to solve.
Kiernan moved back a second, trying to get his head out of the lust filled fog.
Just one kiss.
Wanting him more than he could’ve guessed, Kiernan pulled Gideon by his shirt, pressing a light kiss on his mouth. While tasting the tangy flavor on Gideon’s lips, he peered into his eyes.
Following the gorgeous man’s gaze made him overheat.
“Kiernan?”
“I…” Kiernan couldn’t answer. He wanted Gideon so badly it hurt.
“I’ll help you out.” Gideon pressed his mouth onto Kiernan’s once then removed his shirt, tossing it aside. Before Kiernan could say another word, Gideon attacked his mouth without letting up.
Sensing the electricity flowing from Gideon, Kiernan shuddered and slid his hands down the front of Gideon’s chest. While touching him, his suctions pulsated throughout his human body, making him forget his dilemma. No way would Kiernan pass up this opportunity.
Guilt be damned!
Instead of overthinking, Kiernan took pleasure in the lip-lock, licking Gideon’s lips. He moved back. “I wanna taste more of you, Gideon.” This time Kiernan initiated the kiss.
Gideon accepted it and opened his mouth wider, allowing Kiernan entrance. Apparently satisfied, he groaned into their embrace, tugging at Kiernan’s waistband with one finger while his other hand cupped the back of his neck.
Kiernan moaned and wrapped his arms around him. He got lost in the kiss, enjoying their tongues moving against each other. While they continued, Kiernan slipped Gideon’s trousers from his waist along with his underwear, stripping him as he wanted.
Sweat beaded on Kiernan’s face, neck, and chest from this exchange, making him weaker. With his arousal hitting its peak there was no turning back.
Gideon pulled away to finish removing Kiernan’s clothes. When he straightened, his body glistened with perspiration and his hardened flesh stood proudly between his legs.
“Goddess… I…” Overcome with desire, Kiernan couldn’t finish his sentence. Still feeling the effects of Gideon’s mouth atop his, he touched his lips.
“You do want me.” Gideon watched Kiernan, then covered his mouth with his own once more. Their kiss was frantic, inciting both men to hold each other close.
Kiernan released him. “I do…” He didn’t break their gaze. This moment between them was inevitable. They’d been flirting and toying with each other the entire night. The attraction was too hard to ignore.
Gideon took steps backwards until he reached the bed. When he arrived, he fell on the mattress, yanking Kiernan down on top of him. He lightly kissed his forehead, eyelids and nose, before going back to his mouth.
Kiernan couldn’t retreat. He loved Gideon’s boldness in taking charge in this moment. He never figured himself as someone who’d enjoy being dominated, but Gideon made a liar out of him. “Gideon…” He moaned into the kiss.
“Shh. No more talking.” Gideon quickly shut Kiernan up, not letting him getaway. He curled his arms around Kiernan’s waist, binding them together. Without breaking their lip-lock, Gideon moved against Kiernan, creating friction between them.
“Sweet Goddess.” Kiernan whispered into Gideon’s lips. Fully turned on, his skin overheated, and he was blinded by ecstasy. He lifted himself slightly to take control, but Gideon didn’t take the bait.
Instead, Gideon rolled on top of Kiernan, taking the top position. He moved his arms from underneath Kiernan’s body to prop himself up. Without saying anything, he leaned in, rubbing his body against Kiernan’s while forcing his tongue deep inside Kiernan’s mouth.
Kiernan acquiesced and clawed Gideon’s back to hold him there. They moved in unison, making the bed creak under their weight. All the while, Kiernan sensed his suctions pulsing under his skin, beginning the mating process which couldn’t be stopped.
