Chester winked at Arlif. “We’re soon going to find out.”

Kicking Ass
Name: Lydra
Entry #: 50
Species: Water Gymnast
Type: Water/Fighting
Nature: Disciplined
Rarity: **
Training is second nature to Lydra. From synchronized swimming or diving to combat, the only competition they strive to better is themselves.
“Wow,” Starry said. “She’s amazing.”
“Mm, but Yoshi’s lucky to have a shiny water-type,” Chester responded, slipping his GF-wiki back into his pocket while gesturing at Flick with his head. The water-type’s envy-green glow changed to embarrassed-red before settling on warm amber.
“Careful babe, might cause a car crash,” Soph quipped.
Flick used Water Slap!
Water Slap missed!
“Stop it you two,” Starry ordered.
“Here.” Lyd tapped her wand at a point on the wall at around waist height. “Here’s a hinge and here’s the other one.”
“Do you reckon you can bust it down?” Chester asked.
The water gymnast stepped back, wrapping the ribbon around the wand and slipping it behind her back. “I’ll sure give it my best shot. But it’d be best if I have another girlfriend strike the other hinge simultaneously.”
She inspected Yoshi’s bikini-clad girlfriends. “Do any of you know any fighting moves?” ‘Nopes’ and head shakes all round. “Crystal,” she said, addressing the rock-type, “do you know Charge?” Crystal nodded.
Lyd exchanged a look with Chester. “That will do.” She beckoned Crystal to come forward and after a pause, she joined Chester’s impressive girlfriend. “Use Charge and focus on this point right here,” she said, tapping at the lower hinge.
“When you’re ready to release, Lyd will strike the top one. Sound good?” said Chester.
Crystal nodded. She got into position, standing a foot away from the wall. Starry glanced surreptitiously at the green-haired trainer. He commands authority while being respectful. Whoever taught him to be a trainer taught him well.
Crystal used Charge!
Crystal is biding her energy!
The rock-type got into a half-squat, palms facing up at waist height. Her eyes were fixated on the innocuous spot on the brick wall. The air rippled around her hands.
Crystal is biding her energy!
“OK Lyd, get ready,” Chester said.
The water gymnast had already moved back several yards. Starry and the rest of the girlfriends stood to the side, eyes on the dual-type or Crystal. A bead of sweat trickled down her head as light pulsed around her hands, blurring them completely. She drew her left foot back and grounded it.
Chester pointed at the wall. “Lyd, use Flying Heel!” She dashed forward, leaping gracefully into the air three yards away from the wall, as straight as an arrow.
Crystal’s energy is full!
Crystal released her energy!
CRUNCHHHHHHH!
Starry uncovered her face. Where there was a complete wall, there was now a gaping hole in the shape of a tall rectangle. Lyd was crouching on top of the door, gazing into darkness. A low warbling alarm had started sounding from deep within.
“Alright! Good work, Lyd!” Chester praised, standing in the doorway. The dual-type stood up and flashed a pleased grin at her trainer. He turned back to Yoshi’s girlfriends.
“It won’t take long for them to find out that we’ve made ourselves welcome. We’re going to head in first. Can you guys protect us from behind?”
Starry nodded. “No problem.”
“Thanks. And be prepared to fight. The types you find in the Pink Light District don’t play fair. Turn-based rules don’t apply. Hit hard, hit fast.”
“Go in already!” Soph flapped frantically, feathers flying off her. “We’ve fought bad guys before, they won’t know what hit them.”
Chester smiled. “Don’t worry, we’ll find Yoshi. Fee, Sess, come out.” A flamingo Fiona and a curvy girlfriend with slick, gray skin Starry hadn’t seen before appeared. “Let’s go.” The foursome disappeared into the darkness.
“Arlif, behind you!” Crystal shouted.
Brawl Mode!
Cava used Point Strike!
The grass-type was launched forward, slamming into the brick wall, just beside the new opening that Crystal and Lyd had created moments earlier.
Critical Hit!
Frank! She’s down to 20/61!
“Crystal, check on her!” Starry commanded. “Watch for back-up from inside.”
Flick used Water Barrier!
Cava used Point Strike!
Starry gasped, turning around just in time to see dark fingers held together in a pinch formation inches from her face. The interstellar-type dodged left as the attack broke through the Water Barrier.
Point Strike missed!
Soph used Dagger Wing!
“Rrrrargh!” the bird-kin hollered, throwing her entire shoulder into a wild diagonal slash. Cava raised her arm and took the full force of the steel-type move. Her HP dropped to 85%.
Cava leaped back, dipping her fingers into the gash on her right forearm and licking it.
“Didn’t your trainer tell you that it’s dishonorable to fight many-to-one?”
NAME: Ava (Cava)
LEVEL: 32
HP: 64/80
Starry’s eyes widened. It’s her! “Didn’t your trainer tell you that it’s dishonorable to kidnap trainers?” she spat.
She ran black fingers through her shoulder-length, red hair. “Guilty as charged.”
Cava used Charm!
Starry used Gaze!
The two were locked in a staring contest, neither willing to be the first to blink.
Charm failed!
Gaze failed!
Cava used Headbutt!
Starry gasped. So fast. She had closed the space between them in a fraction of a second and drove her horned head into her stomach.
NAME: Serenette (Starry)
LEVEL: 22
HP: 49/73
“Starry!” the other four girlfriends exclaimed. The Serenette gritted her teeth, latched her hands onto her foe’s horns and twisted her head such that she was inches away from her face.
Starry used Gaze!
This time, she wasn’t ready. Starry slammed her hands into her foe’s chest, sending her back.
Cava’s Defence fell!
“Flick, Soph, now!”
Flick used Water Slap!
Soph used Fell Swoop!
HP down to 61%... 49%...
“Don’t forget us!” came a voice from behind Starry.
Arlif used Nettle Sting!
Crystal used Boulder Smash!
HP down to 40%... 28%...
Cava was on one knee, bruises blooming on her face, her immaculate power suit ripped and torn in several places.
Starry took a deep breath. My turn.
Starry used Siren Song!
Maybe it was because it was this girlfriend who had kidnapped Yoshi or because she had pleasured him. Whatever the case, Starry drew deep within herself and sang until the horned girlfriend’s eyes rolled up into the back of her head.
Critical Hit!
It’s Super Effective!!!
Cava fainted!
Starry has gained 799 EXP!
Soph has gained 799 EXP!
Flick has gained 799 EXP!
Crystal has gained 799 EXP!
Crystal is now Level 11!
Crystal is now Level 12!
Arlif has gained 799 EXP!
Arlif is now Level 16!
“Fuck yeah!” Soph whooped. She rushed over to the fainted Cava and started furiously teabagging her.
Starry breathed a sigh of relief, keeping her eyes trained on Cava. Siren Song was super effective against her… what type is she?
“Is everyone OK?” She performed a quick check of her team’s basic stats:

“Look what I found on that bitch,” Soph exclaimed, running over to the rest of the group. In the palm of her hand was a metallic box the size of a match box.
You have found SMDX1!
“Come on Starry, don’t look at me like that,” Soph said.
I guess she did attack us… and kidnap Yoshi.
“Hold on to it. We’ll see what move it is after we find–”
KA-BOOOOOOOOM!
A shockwave blasted out of the hole in the wall, nearly knocking the girlfriends off their feet while cracks snaked along the mortar.
“What in Frank’s name was that?” Arlif shouted.
“What in Frank’s name is that smell?” Flick said, her face scrunching up.
Soph gagged, throwing her wings open and flapping the putrid smell away from them. It was like rotten eggs to the power of 100.
“I’m not sure, but I’m going in to find out,” Starry said. She took a deep breath and ran in, disappearing into the darkness.
“Hold up, Starry, there could be a trap!” Flick ran in, dialling Flash up to level 4. Crystal padded in silently after her, followed by Arlif with her nose nestled in the crook of her elbow.
“Tsch! Guys wait u–” She gagged again. She steeled herself and ran in. “Wait for me!”
Team Boom Grunt Ben wants to battle!
“Go–!”
Crystal used Boulder Punch!
Before he even had a chance to call his girlfriend out, the rock-type walloped him in the stomach. He flew 10 feet back, thudding onto his face. He rolled over, clutching his ribs. Crystal raced over to him, picked him up by his collar and slammed him into the wall, feet dangling inches above the ground.
“Crystal, no!” Starry shouted.
“Please don’t hurt me!” Ben whimpered.
“Yoshi Soysauce,” she said levelly, face devoid of expression. “Where is he?”
“They’re either locked up or being milked. Keep following the path and you’ll see the milking room. Please!” He cowered. “I just run operations here.”
“Let go of him, Crystal,” Starry commanded. The rock-type released her grip and he crashed in a disgraceful heap on the ground before scampering back towards the entrance. “Let’s not stoop to their level. If we need to fight, we fight girlfriend to girlfriend.”
Crystal flicked her bleach blonde hair out of her eyes. “Sorry.”
“Yaaargh!” All five girlfriends snapped their heads towards the corridor ahead in unison.
“That sounds like Lyd,” Flick said, upping her brightness a couple levels. “Let’s go.”
She led the way, Yoshi’s other girlfriends a few paces behind. They passed by numerous cells, most of which were empty. In a couple she saw men wrapped up in thin blankets, huddled against the wall, sitting on top of a plank that had been bolted to the wall. No Yoshi.
The tiled floor gave way to dark blue steel that ran all the way around in a ring. The girls ran to the edge of the ring and gripped the railing, peering down.
Chester stood in the middle, back to back with Lyd. Surrounding them were a myriad of other girlfriends: Suzies, Moxies, Patricias among them, all wearing the meanest look they could muster. Further behind in the shadows were men in white. Chester looked up at Starry and co, causing more than a few members of Team Boom to notice them too.
“Get out of here! Chester yelled.” “They have reinforcements!”
“You five, send your girlfriends up to take care of them.” The voice as sharp as a saw-toothed blade came from the shadows beneath the metal platform where Starry and her squad were standing.
“Lyd, cut them off! Use Razor Ribbon!” Chester commanded.
The lycra-clad girlfriend pushed off her trainer and dashed to the closest stairwell. Half a dozen girlfriends charged up; the first to reach Lyd was a Chippie.
Lyd used Razor Ribbon!
She drew the foot-long wand from her back and with a flick of the wrist whipped it across the field mouse’s body.
WH-CHHHHHH!
Water sprayed into the air, leaving a gash across the foe’s torso. The Chippie’s HP fell to 25% and she lost her balance, plummeting over the side of the stairwell and thudded onto her back.
“Everyone duck!” Arlif shouted.
Arlif used Nettle Sting!
The grass-type jumped in the air and spun like a top, thorn-like projectiles pushing through her neon skin before being machinegunned at an Ila.
It’s Super Effective!!!
The bark-skinned girlfriend crashed to her knees, girlfriends behind tripping over her.
Flick used Flash!
The water-type dialled up to a 10. The room flooded with light, followed by screeches of agony.
Starry stepped back, taking in the chaos and cacophony. Lyd’s holding her own on the right stairwell, but barely. Flick, Crystal, Arlif, and Soph are pushing back the girlfriends who have come up the other stairwell…
She peered back down onto the ground floor. Frank! Chester’s taking on girlfriends directly! An enemy Crystal that had been sparring with him crunched a blow into his cheek. He stumbled, right into the arms of a fighting-type Janette. She put him into a headlock and held him still as the Team Boom girlfriends surrounded him.
Starry gasped. Wait, that’s it!
“Soph!” It took a couple tries, but eventually Starry was able to pull the flying-type away from the fracas. In hushed, hurried tones, she told her the plan. The bird-kin nodded and dissolved back into the fray. Is this actually going to work?
Starry exhaled, deep and long… then inhaled.
Starry used Siren Song!

Rescue
You think you’ve won, we have no chance,
The winner is Team Boom.
It is to my song that you’ll dance,
We’ll send you to your doom!
At first, it seemed like her song had no effect; too many of the girlfriends were too distracted by the effects of Flash. As Starry repeated her refrain, they fell quiet for a moment. This lasted barely a few seconds before their screeches turned to moans.
It’s working! Many of the girlfriends were becoming confused, hurting themselves in the process.
The Janette that had Chester in a headlock had dropped him and was now clutching her hands to her head.
Lyd used Flying Heel!
The water/fighting-type knocked over the girlfriends incapacitated by Starry’s Siren Song like bowling pins. She dashed over to her trainer, wand in hand.
Lyd used Razor Ribbon!
She attacked not only the Janette, but also the other girlfriends that were about to pummel Chester into a pulp.
Flick, Crystal, and Arlif formed a united front, pushing back the girlfriends back down the stairwell. Soph was stalking the perimeter of the railing, searching for her target. There was shouting from the direction in which they entered the circular room. Their reinforcements had arrived!
“There are only five of them. How incompetent can you be?” That voice… that’s him! Starry looked towards Soph. The bird-kin descended into a half-crouch. She scanned the mass of white jumpsuits and miscellaneous girlfriends for the owner.
“There are some things you just have to do yourself.” The horrid voice from the shadows grunted. Go, Phix.”
A beam of blue light shot out from underneath the railing. The mystery trainer released his girlfriend directly onto the metal platform Yoshi’s girlfriends were defending.
NAME: Fumi (Phix)
/> LEVEL: 35
HP: 79/79
Flick turned around. “I faced one of these in the Celeste Caverns.” Phix turned her sickly face to the water-type. Her dank hair hung limp. Purple haze clung to the air in front of her face with every wheezy breath.
“Phix, Bowel Explosion,” the man with the sharp voice ordered from the shadows. Phix started hyperventilating, hooded scarlet eyes wide and scared.
Starry’s song faltered. Bowel Explosion? What sort of move was that?
Flick used Water Barr–!
KA-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

I haven’t fainted yet.
Starry pushed herself and sat on her haunches. Yellow, noxious fumes streamed around the large, translucent Water Barrier in front of her. Flick got it up in time.
“Flick? Crystal? Arlif? Soph?”
The ringing in her ears was deafening. Where were they?
Starry kept low, mouth covered. Phix was against the railing, which had been bent out of shape. Her stomach had been blown open and had taken out most of her torso. Starry retched before wiping her mouth. She took a few deep breaths, keeping her head low so as to not breathe in the noxious fumes. While crawling on the metal platform it didn’t take long for her to see a familiar face.
