I rolled my eyes before pulling her to me and kissing the side of her head. “Go to therapy and I’ll see you at the match later.”
With a huge fucking grin on my face, I pushed open the main door and let Sarah go in front of me. I was so distracted by the swing of her arse in her tight, short red skirt that I didn’t notice her pull up to a stop.
“Shit,” I mumbled as I stumbled into her.
“Adam.”
My name was a horrified gasp, sounding so pained that my head shot up and my arm instinctively wrapped around her waist, pulling her back against my chest.
“Sarah, what’s wrong?”
“No, he can’t be here. God, no.”
As I looked out toward the car park, her body began to shake in my arms as she began whimpering about Joshua Mills. My eyes focused on a man walking toward us; a figure I recognised. The closer he got the more Sarah’s body shook and the faster my heart thudded against my breastbone. Eventually the man stopped in front of us and looked me straight in the eyes and when he smiled, I felt the bile rise.
“Hello, son, it’s been a long time. Sarah, fancy seeing you here.”

Which leads nicely on to my gratitude to Matthew himself. Thank you for being my muse for Adam, well most of my more recent heroes to be honest. Thank you for everything you bring to my life. Thank you for your face. Thank you for your body. Thank you to your parents for having you. Simply thank you for being you.
Mr A and the lovely Mrs A senior, deserve a special thank you for this book as they waited on me hand and foot while I was writing it. Not only that, but they were subjected to spending the whole of the Christmas period sitting in the house, drinking alcohol and eating chocolates because I wouldn’t move from my desk. It was tough for them let me tell you.
Finally, the biggest thank you of all goes to you for reading not only the book but these acknowledgments. I sincerely hope you enjoyed the first part of Sarah and Adam’s story even though at times you may have wondered if this was the same Nikki Ashton who writes about fanny farts and penis’ caught in zips. It is a big change for me, and it was hard trying to write something without any humour, but it was a story I really wanted to tell.
