“Hit me with your best shot, asshole. You aren’t strong enough to hurt me.”
Noryad roars in frustration as his eyes turn completely white. “We will see about that.”
Coral is shocked by the change in Noryad and moves to approach him, but Merlin and Xandar stop her. “This is the job of the King. He has to protect those he cares about. King’s don’t usually do it like this, Noryad is not your typical type of person and that’s why we consider him a Maverick. He plays outside the rules and does thing his own way. If you try to stop him he will most likely ignore you, so we recommend you watch silently or leave.”
Coral is unsure if she wants to see this when Noryad turns around and says to everyone, “I would recommend that if you don’t like blood, or anything related to a torture, that you leave because it’s about to get messy.”
Seeing the shock and fear on Coral’s face Noryad walks to her, smiles tenderly and kisses her gently, making her feel emotions she can’t explain. When he breaks the kiss he looks deep into her eyes and he says, “If you want to leave I understand, but if you don’t want to leave you will see what happens to those who threaten to kill me, or hurt anyone I care about.”
He doesn’t give her a chance to respond before he gently kisses her forehead and turns to head toward Blake. As he walks he snap his fingers and Blake starts screaming and thrashing against the ropes as he feels as though his insides are burning. Once Noryad is back in front of Blake he snaps his fingers again and Blake stops thrashing and is breathing hard, but his eyes remain defiant. Noryad smiles and puts his hand on Blake’s shoulder to see if he can take the information from Blake without having to go any further, but he quickly realizes that Blake has blocked his mind.
Noryad looks at Blake and asks him again, “You sure you aren’t going to give me the information?”
Blake spit blood toward Noryad’s face, but Noryad stops it in mid-air and drops it to the floor as Blake yells, “FUCK YOU, ASSHOLE!!”
Noryad shrugs and smiles, “Suit yourself.”
He releases the bindings holding Blake to the chair, lifts him from the chair and pushes him against the wall. Blake can’t move and when Noryad snaps his fingers again, making the same feeling as earlier start in Blake’s body again, Blake holds the scream in this time and he masks the pain he is feeling. Noryad closes his hand into a fist, making Blake feel like he is breaking each one of his bones. Blake screams louder than before and with each bone Noryad breaks his screams intensify.
Blake starts to vomit blood from the pain and Noryad stops and places Blake back on the chair. Not able to withstand any more pain, Blake takes slow, jagged breaths and says, “I will tell you what I know, but you will have to let me go afterward.”
Noryad uses his powers to see if Blake is telling the truth. When he confirms that he is, Noryad nods his agreement and says, “I promise you that I will let you go once you tell me all you know.” Everyone starts objecting to this until Noryad silences them. “I will not tolerate anyone questioning my decisions.” Once the room is silent again Noryad says to Blake, “You may start now.”
Blake starts telling them about what Albert has planned once he marries Coral. He plans on getting rid of her by using his powers to make a deal with the other Gods that wanted Coral removed as the Goddess of Fate and he wants to kill Noryad so he can help the Destroyers and Saviors kill mankind.
After hearing what he needs to know Noryad asks Blake, “Is that all you know?” When Blake nods Noryad says, “You can go back and once you tell Albert what happened here tell him that he will soon follow in your footsteps.”
Blake walks away and disappears in a wisp of smoke, heading toward Albert.
Everyone watches as he disappears and Coral looks at Noryad. “Why did you let him go?” she asks.
“Because I promised him I would and I know that Albert will not be as merciful of his failure to kill me and capture souls.”
******
Blake is barely walking as he enters Albert’s place and sees Albert flirting with the servant he is usually fucking. Albert looks up as he enters and asks in a disgusted tone, “What the hell happened to you? You look like shit.”
Blake responds in a sarcastic tone, “Oh I’m sorry. I forgot that I’m living the royal life.”
Albert ignores Blake’s sarcasm and says to the servant, “leave.” Once she is gone he turns to Blake and asks, “So what news do you bring?”
Blake explains what happened and tells him what he did so he could be released, but he tells him that he lied and didn’t tell them his true motives. Albert’s rage is evident in his eyes as he hits the throne and screams at Blake. “YOU PIECE OF SHIT! YOU COULDN’T KEEP YOUR FUCKING MOUTH SHUT! THE MOMENT YOU ARE TORTURED YOU LET LOOSE YOUR TONGUE! YOU ARE WORTHLESS! I DON’T KNOW WHY I USED YOU TO DO A SIMPLE JOB! NOW THEY KNOW MY INTENTIONS AND THEY WILL WANT ME DEAD!”
“But I didn’t tell them the truth,” Blake stammers in his defense. “I lied to them and I forgot to mention that Noryad says you will follow in my footsteps.”
Albert, furious at what Noryad said, gets his sword out and in one clean cut decapitates Blake before he can register what is happening. As Blake’s body falls to the floor Albert says, “We will see who will kill who, Mr. King.”
Chapter 32
Noryad has left the Throne Room with Coral and Merlin, Xandar and his men have left for the church because they want to take care of a few things. While they are walking toward his room Coral says to Noryad, “Noryad, I am quite lost when it comes to those who came with Xandar. Can you tell which is which of them?”
Noryad chuckles in amusement as he teases her, “So the Goddess of Fate, who can see the future, can’t remember a few faces? Yes, my Goddess, I will describe each one of them for you. Let’s start with Xandar. He is the white man with long grey hair, pale blue eyes and a thin, yet strong body. Gray is the one with spiky black hair, emerald green eyes, chocolate-colored skin and a slim, yet muscular body. He also has a small “X” on his right cheek. Bruce is the one whose eyes are black and don’t show any sign of life in them. He has tanned skin and a diagonal cut across his nose. He’s thoroughly built and always vigilant. Dorian is the bald one with white eyes, light brown skin and is the smallest of the group. Michael has pale white skin, red hair and red eyes. He has a strong, muscular body and is the next to the largest of them all. Last, but not least, is Erick. He has curly black hair, deep black skin and is built to the point of being scary. His body has a lot of scars on it from wars and he is the biggest of the group.”
Coral is amazed that Noryad knows all of those details about each one of them and she asks, “How can you know that when they were all dressed?”
Noryad smiles and answers, “Because I can see through their clothes and it is what I saw the first moment they entered the Throne Room. I always pay attention to all the details so I can use it to my advantage if the need arises.”
They continue walking until they arrive at Noryad’s room. He opens the door and leads Coral inside. “What are we doing here?” she asks but Noryad turns around and with his power he closes the door and locks it. He walks toward Coral with an intense hunger in his eyes and she retreats in surprise, but quickly realizes that she is pinned against the door. Noryad grins as he quickly grabs her by her thighs and kisses her passionately, making her lose her breath. Her hunger rises to meet his as she starts kissing him back with the same passion.
Using his powers, Noryad strips her dress off, never breaking the kiss, and Coral use hers to take his clothes off in return. As they continue to kiss Noryad lifts her up and pulls away from the door. He carries her to the bed and gently lays her down as he continues kissing her. He breaks the kiss and starts kissing and biting his way down her body. He stops when he reaches her breast and looks up to meet her eyes. “So beautiful and all mine,” he says before dropping his head down and taking one of her rose colored nipples into the warmth of his mouth. Coral’s body shivers as he says the words and
a loud moan escapes her as his teeth close around her taut nipple. She moans as he continues kissing her body, working his way down until he arrives at her dripping wet, pulsating core and starts devouring her. Her body starts shivering at the pleasure she is experiencing. It’s too much for her and she starts convulsing as she starts cumming in ecstasy.
As soon as the first tremors rock her body Noryad moves quickly and pushes himself into her, drawing out the intensity of her orgasm. At the feel of her clinching tightly around him Noryad’s control snaps and he starts pounding into her, making her moan louder and louder until she throws her head back and raises her body off the bed as she cums again. The intensity of her orgasm pulls him over the edge and he screams her name as he shoots his seed deep inside of her.
Noryad falls on top of her and rolls to his side as he catches his breath, leaving his back exposed to Coral. She puts her hand on his back and feels that warm feeling running through her body again, making her fall asleep against the Phoenix on Noryad’s back. Noryad, feeling her drift to sleep against his back, follows her into a deep, dreamless sleep.
A few hours later
Noryad and Coral wake together and make love again in the shower before getting dressed and heading toward the church. As they walk they share ideas on what he should work on next and upon arriving at the church Noryad sees that Merlin and Xandar, with his men, are already there. Noryad walks toward Merlin and asks, “What’s next, Merlin?”
Merlin smiles and says, “Follow me.”
Upon touching a wall on the front side of the room the wall disappears, showing a room with many bodies and different swords. Merlin looks at him and asks, “How good are you with a sword and battle magic?”
“I am approaching master level in both, why?”
Merlin grins devilishly and answers, “Because that is where you are training now.”
Chapter 33
Four Months Later
For two months Noryad trains his body, to the point where he can predict the attack of the reanimated dead that were used to train him. He even grants the animated corpses the souls of sword masters so he could train his body against real enemies. Then he steps it up a bit and trains against Xandar and his men. Training his instincts and reflexes.
For the next two months Noryad trains his soul, fighting outside of his body. He fights demons, ghosts and souls wanting to claim his body. He learns that not all the souls want to rest in peace, some want to consume your soul so they can control it as their own.
After his training is over Noryad takes on his duty as Necromancer King and many souls have come to seek his advice, or to have him release them from their time on earth. It has been years since a Necromancer has been known to exist and now that they know he is here they will follow him until they have found their release.
What is in front of him now is quite different, what he is talking to is a living person asking for the help of the King. The person is keeping his face in the shadows of the hood that’s covering his head, but Noryad is not feeling any kind of threat coming from him. “Who are you and what brings you here?” Noryad asks from his Throne, with Coral at his side.
The person lowers his hood and shows his face. Noryad immediately recognizes him as Bruce, one of Xandar’s men. Bruce looks at Noryad with dead eyes and says, “I have come to ask a favor of you, my liege.”
Noryad is quite surprised because there’s hardly anything he can do to help someone as strong as Bruce. “What do you need help with, Bruce?”
Bruce lowers his gaze and answers, “I want to see my love, Patricia. She was killed by someone who hated me and I couldn’t save her. I was too late to do anything for her. I killed the man while consumed by grief, but that didn’t bring her back.”
Noryad looks up from Bruce and says to the room, “The visits are over for today. I will be here in the next few days and I will take your petitions then. I ask that you leave the room, those who have to remain know who they are.”
Everyone leaves the room except for Xandar, Gray, Bruce, Dorian, Michael, Erick, Merlin and Coral. Noryad closes his eyes, and while everyone is looking at him, he separates his soul from his body and goes into the river of the dead. Realizing that Nightfall came with him as he separated his soul from his body he grips it tightly and calls for Patricia. At first there is no response, but then a woman with long brown hair, brown eyes, pale skin and a light dusting of freckles on her nose and cheeks approaches Noryad. Why is the King of the Dead calling for someone who was dead long before he was born?
Noryad responds; because there is someone who hasn’t let you go and he asked me to find you.
Patricia’s face sparks with interest as she approaches Noryad; who is the one who hasn’t let me go after hundreds of years?
Noryad stretches out his hand; why don’t you come and see for yourself?
Patricia takes Noryad’s hand as he returns to his body. The Temperature in the room drops and Patricia appears in front of him. Noryad grants her a solid form, one that can be touched, and looks at Bruce.
Bruce is in shock. He can’t believe who is standing in front of him. Patricia, his love, is standing in front of him, looking at his King. He hears Noryad tell her to turn around.
When she turns around she sees Bruce and her hand flies to her mouth, “Bruce, my love, how is it possible that you are alive after all this time?”
“I was immortal by the time we met and fell in love. I was going to ask you to come across with me, to live forever, but you were taken away from me before I could.”
Patricia runs toward Bruce and wraps him in a warm embrace. Once he feels her warmth against his body again he starts to cry, which is something he hasn’t done since he lost her. She kisses him deeply, but once she breaks the kiss she takes his face in her hands. “Bruce, the time has come to let me go. I never stopped loving you, even after death, but the time has come to let go. There must be someone who can bring you happiness, after my departure. I need to rest and you need to be happy.”
Bruce takes her face in his hands and looks deep into her eyes. “But Patricia, I love you and I want you to be with me forever.”
“I know Bruce and I would love that, but I cannot remain tied to you. It is time to let your wounds heal and let me rest.”
Bruce looks into her eyes again and sees how tired she is. Even though it is ripping his heart out. He knows he must let her go so she can find the rest she deserves. He kisses her deeply before he pulls away and says, “I understand, my love. I will forever love you.”
She wipes the tears from his cheeks and kisses them both before she whispers, “I love you, too, Bruce,” and turns around to face Noryad. With tears running down her face she says, “I am ready.”
Noryad nods and speaks in the voice of a Necromancer, Goddess of Life, grant this soul the rest she needs for her time has already passed. She remained tied to this plain through her love for one who could not let her go. Take her into your loving embrace and let her rest. Make her comfortable while she sleeps in your arms.
Patricia is looking at a face none of them can see, but Noryad can feel. She smiles and says, “It is time,” before she disappears. Bruce howls like the wolf at night and heads outside, where the full moon is shining brightly.
Xandar looks at Noryad and says, “Thank you, my King. What you just did means a lot to us, but even more to Bruce.”
“I will help those who need my help. I won’t deny help to a soul in need. Bruce may be living, but his soul needed this. Now I am heading to my room to rest. It has been a long day.”
Chapter 34
Midnight
Noryad is lying in his bed awake. Coral is beside him, but even with her there he feels restless and can’t sleep. To keep from waking her he gets up, puts on his jeans and t-shirt and goes to sit on the big balcony attached to his room. He sits there looking out over the horizon as the full moon illuminates the night. He’s lost in his memories of his childhood at the Guild, of training and hanging out with h
is brothers, when he feels a presence on the balcony. He calls his staff-sword, which instantly appears in his right hand, and he turns around. Bruce is standing there watching him and when he gives Bruce a questioning look he points to the sky and says, “I came from above.”
Noryad smiles and sends his staff-sword away as he motions for Bruce to sit beside him. When he sits down Noryad looks at him and sees that there is life in his eyes and he knows that he has officially let go his past. Bruce looks at the moon and starts talking. “Thank you, my King. I have held on to Patricia for years. I just couldn’t let her go, she was the love of my life. She was the one I wanted to spend forever with.”
Noryad thinks for a minute before replying, “I am a young King and I have a lot of weight on my shoulders, but I have faith in my friends and in God. Because, despite what happened, he could have destroyed the World in the blink of an eye, yet here we are, after a thousand years of war.”
“That is true. I give you my thanks,” he says and stretches out his hand. As soon as he comes in contact with Bruce’s hand Noryad sees what’s approaching him and he sees Bruce with a brown-haired, brown-eyed woman, and in his arms there’s a small girl who looks Patricia, and she carries the name as well. Noryad smiles at Bruce. “There is someone waiting for you at the other end of the island, right?”
Bruce is quite shocked by this, since he hasn’t told Noryad anything about his life now. “Yes, there is a woman named Rachel waiting for me,” he answers.
Noryad smiles again. “She is beautiful and I want to congratulate you.”
Bruce looks at him in confusion and asks, “Why?”
