“Lucy? Wait what! Who are you calling Lucy?” Lucuris said as he started to laugh loudly.

Abigail felt glad that her brother was here with them. That she didn’t have to keep who she was a secret anymore, and that he had found other people who were like him. She held Zee her Dragon familiar tightly, thinking of how awesome it was to be on an adventure, a life journey with everyone. “Man, this is so fucking cool. We’re going to be the best damn exorcist ever!” Abigail yelled as she jumped with joy and excitement coursing thru her veins.

“You guys are quite silly,” Said Oracle coming over to Lucuris and everyone else holding his laptop in both hands. “The best exorcist. You sound like you would even take on the biggest of bads. Ultimate exorcist, only Paladins have that right,” Oracle said while starting to chuckle at everyone.

Nick looked at Oracle, his mouth starting to tremble with anger. To him it seemed oracle was mocking them, making fun of their determination to become something great. “Just what the fuck are you laughing at? You’re sounding all high and mighty, thinking you can do any better than us. You can’t even summon a familiar, let alone fight by yourself. All you got is that fucking computer, and that is all you have,” Nick said as he began to walk out of the room and heading out of the cave.

“Nick wait for me, hold on man,” Abigail said as she started to chase after him.

“I swear Oracle, I mean Ichikori you can be such a mean head!” Jessica screamed in oracles face and then turned away from him and stormed off following Nick and Abigail.

Oracles head was down a bit, and a few tears dropped down from his face onto the floor. “Everyone thinks I’m useless, I was just warning them that this was stupid. That they couldn’t become Paladins...I can never say anything right,”

Lucuris knew how Oracle felt, he saw the hurt in his face. He could see the tears drip from his cheeks and his glasses fog up. But it wasn’t what oracle said to the others that bothered him. What bothered Lucuris was that he doubted himself, but most of all doubted his friends. Like he believed they had no chance at all to follow their dreams, their desires. “Everyone isn’t mad at you man. What you said may have been a dick move, but that is just who you are right? You think before leaping into the abyss. You think about logic, and in your head, we have no chance to defeat these demons together,” Lucuris said while wiping away tears off Oracles face with his hand.

“I can’t help it, it’s who I am. I worry about the smallest things. I’m afraid of heights and being in crowded areas. I can’t function in the living world. But when I joined Nick’s group of the Outsiders, I found hope,” Oracle said looking at Lucuris excited and sad at the same time. “They took me in when no one else did. Even though I have no powers, can’t summon any familiars. Helping them is the most important thing to me. That is why I have to protect them, to show them that they can’t do it so blindly,” Oracle said angrily, holding his laptop even closer to him.

Lucuris knew that they meant the world to him. Abigail and the others were all Oracle had, and he feared to lose them in battle, or if they got tired of him and found him useless, he feared they may just leave him. “There’s one thing that you have to understand...Nick and everyone are your friends. Even though their dreams may be unreachable, no matter what it is or how silly it sounds you support them, don’t shun them also. Be right in the middle with them and shout to the heavens your declaration of your unified bonds as one! You guys are friends no matter what remember that,” Lucuris said as he patted oracle on his head and started to walk out of the room and head towards the other members were.

Before Lucuris could reach them though Nick came back into the room and rushed towards Oracle. Nick had a frightened look on his face, fear set in and he grabbed both sides of Oracles upper body and shook him hard. Oracle did not know what was going on, he was scared as to why Nick was freaking out. “What’s wrong Nick, what’s going on, did something happen?” Oracle said while trying to settle down his fears. Trying to calm nick oracle slowly put his hands-on Nick's shoulder and looked him in the eye, to let him know everything will be ok.

The thing was everything was not going to be ok, not for Nick or anyone else, he had always feared of this day and it seemed to finally be coming into fruition “It’s happening man, its fucking happening, the end of days is starting. Jessica and Abigail are at the cave entrance and they are trying to prepare warding’s to protect our base. We have to do something, there seems to be a few explosions in the city, it seems the evil that was heading our way, is already here,” Nick said rushing out the cave with Oracle.

Lucuris did not know what was going on, but he felt very lightheaded for a few seconds. To him this was all happening so fast, he was just an ordinary man...but now he is in a world where demons and angels lie. “I dunno what’s going on, man I need to go help the others. I must protect Abigail no matter what, but what the hell can I do against whatever is heading towards us,” Lucuris said to himself as he started to run out of the room and into the darkness heading towards an even greater darkness where he hoped light could prevail against evil.

  Chapter 3

Lucuris saw everyone at the front entrance of the cave, and saw that Abigail was on the floor, she fainted and was holding onto zee still. Luckily Jessica, Nick, and Oracle were there to huddle around her. “What happened to Abigail, is she ok? She isn’t moving at all, who did this to her!” Lucuris demanded while closing his fist tightly. He started to look around them to try and find some sign of another person, someone who did this to his sister. All he could see was darkness and streetlights that turned on.

“Dammit, they attacked her fast. Holy shit I think they’re still here,” Nick said as he reached into his suits pocket and pulled out a piece of paper. Nick then bit down hard on his hand until blood started to pour from the wound, he then used his own blood to scribble down stuff on a piece of paper. The paper started to move around in his hand slowly then it sprang into the air and black mist started to escape it slowly at first and started to gradually pour out faster. Nick was summoning his familiar. “Come aid me my friend, come and help us in this time of need, Amaterasu the goddess of the sun!” Nick said reaching to the sky with his arm and looking at his familiar form. The Familiar Nick summoned was forming in the form of a wolf, white and bright red orange all around its body, shining as bright as the sun, shining the way to help her friends in need. The familiar was as big as a large dog, but it moved gracefully and held a powerful stance.

“Holy crap man that is amazing, you’re familiar is so beautiful,” Lucuris said trying to shield his eyes from the bright light.

“Sorry, the light will dim down eventually, but Amaterasu has been itching to be out and help us. She is no demon, even though the summoning process is the same way, she is from a different realm,” Nick said as he started to pet his Fox Like friend.

Lucuris was amazed at how close Nick and Amaterasu were together, they seemed like they were meant to be partners just by the way he talked and treated her. “But why did you summon her right now, she seems to be angry at something Nick,” Lucuris said looking around seeing what Amaterasu was growling at. He kept his eye also close to Abigail. She had still not woken up, but Jessica and Oracle made sure to guard her. He wondered what caused this attack on his sister. Whatever it was she didn’t see it nor did Zee. Lucuris could see Abigail wanted to protect Zee, she held onto him tightly even though she was unconscious.

“Zee knows whatever attacked your sister is still here. I have to drag this son of a bitch out from hiding, and make sure whoever it is doesn’t harm anyone else,” Nick said as he looked at his familiar and then laid both of his arms to the left and right side of his body. “Heavens blow, wicked night, let my savior lead my path. Wash away this darkness and grant me the power to abolish them into the abyss,” Nick said as his hands started to have a radiant glow to them. On both of his hand’s handguns started to form, glowing brighter and brighter each second then all of a sudden calmed down and t
urned the weapons black. “No One fucks with my friends,” Nick said as he leaped into the air and started firing wildly around him, piercing the sky and stars. The sounds of his weapons blared and shot out holy light from where they landed in the sky. Explosions started to appear as light shredded the darkness, and all that was heard was screeching cries of what seemed to be wild beast...They were shrieking in pain.

Lucuris could only see but a glimpse of the fowl creatures. He knew they were around, but he could not see them until now. The demons that he saw had wings, wide and long, sharpen to the tips. The fangs were sharp as knives, and eyes glowed red as staring into him trying to take his life and soul. It made him uneasy and he feared them, not in his worst nightmares had he seen anything so disgusting, terrifying, it almost made him want to throw up. “Holy crap...those things.... guys do you see them,” Lucuris said almost in disbelief.

“We see them Lucuris. Try not to stare at them, they strive on fears and doubts of us humans. Just look away,” Jessica said trying to ignore what was going on and just making sure Abigail was ok.

Oracle looked as scared as Lucuris, he tried to hide it by not looking up and just focusing on Abigail's face, but Jessica and Lucuris could tell he was worried. There were so many demons and he felt helpless. “Dammit, Dammit, DAMMIT! Why can’t I help Nick, why?” Oracle screamed out loud closing his hands into fists and staring up at the sky. Seeing that Nick was battling those monsters alone and there was nothing he could do but feel helpless.

“Don’t worry Oracle, you are not useless. You help give me strength man, you all do, just make sure Abigail is safe. I can handle these guys, no problem. “Nick said as he continued to shoot out bullets from his weapons. He was focused on his task at hand, and knew he could not fail battling these demons, luckily for him he had Amaterasu to help him. His familiar attacked demons who were close to Nick making sure they did not harm him, using her sharp claws on her paws to rip them to shreds.

“Guys we gotta get out of here. The demons seem to just be coming, endlessly, no matter how much Nick beats the crap out of them!” Lucuris said making his way to Abigail and the rest of the group.

“Yes, we got to get out of here, but we don’t want to lead the demons into the city. That could be even worse, causing havoc in the city. They all must be eliminated here and now, but Nick alone can’t do it,” Oracle said while looking at Abigail’s motionless body.

Jessica looked at Lucuris and she knew how worried he was about his sister, but even more so she saw that he was afraid, probably by the demons or something troubling him. “Lucuris what is the matter? You don’t need to worry about Nick, he can take care of the demons. He will not let any of them harm your sister,” Jessica said as she started to smile at him.

Something was troubling Lucuris as he started to look away from Jessica's smile and up to where Nick was fighting. Sure, he was holding them off with the help of Amaterasu and his pure strength and abilities. Lucuris could see that Nick and his familiar was not only protecting him, but also able to keep him floating in the air. That wasn’t the only thing that Lucuris was curious about, but it seemed like the demons themselves just kept coming as soon as some were destroyed, they kept multiplying. Lucuris knew it once he saw Nick was having some trouble keeping up with shooting each demon and started to look tired, his stamina was slowly draining.

“No, he can’t do this alone Jess...look at him, sure he is able to keep going but look how tired he is. Don’t you see how much energy he is draining just to protect us? These demons they just keep coming, what the hell are we supposed to do!” Lucuris said as he stared back at Jessica and saw that she was reaching from inside her shirt and pulled out a small parchment.

Jessica looked at the parchment and stared back at Lucuris and Oracle. “I was afraid of this...I have to go help Nick, you two make sure Abigail is ok. If she wakes up you must leave this area at once,” Jessica said as she started to get up and leave Abigail in the arms of Lucuris’s.

Lucuris looked at his sister’s face, seeing how peaceful she looked and how Zee did not leave her side and just seemed to whimper as Abigail held him in her arms. “I don’t want to leave you guys, we can’t split up, we have to stick as a team,” Lucuris said as Jessica started to walk off towards where Nick was.

Jessica didn’t want to split up either, but she knew that if they can buy the others time, they would make it out safe. “Once Abigail comes to, you guys leave, get out of here. Get in the car and drive off and don’t look back, just keep going, and find a place that is safe,” Jessica said as she bit down hard on her palm until blood started to drip. She took the blood that was dripping off her hand and laid it on the piece of parchment and wrote with her fingers, until black mist started to come out of it, forming into a figure.

Out of the mist came a creature that wore armor around its body, the creature did not look like any beast or animal, instead it wore armor all around its body, wielding a sword in one hand. The creature looked like some sort of knight, shield in one hand and weapon in another.it towered above everyone else and stood by Jessica’s side. “Odin my friend, your help is needed once again,” Jessica said staring at her familiar as he started to kneel down to acknowledge her request.

“Don’t worry Jessica if anything goes wrong, we will head out, just remember what we learned. Think before attacking, go for weak points, and above all let no creature get close to you,” Oracle said looking into Jessica’s eyes.

Jessica then hopped onto Odin and sat on top of his shoulders and waved back at Lucuris and Oracle. “I’ll be back, don’t worry,” Jessica said smiling as Odin began to take off into the sky heading towards Nick and Amaterasu

Nick could see Jessica and Odin heading up towards him, he felt a bit relieved that they were coming to his aid. “Took you guys long enough. I was wondering how long til you came to help me out,” Nick said as he started to smirk at Jessica. He then turned to face Amaterasu. “Grant your boon on Jessica Amaterasu. This fight may take a while, `he said as he continued firing at the demons heading their way.

Amaterasu stopped fighting demons for a minute as she started to swirl around Jessica so that she would be able to float in the air without Odin’s help.

“Thanks Amaterasu… Odin let’s do this together. Let's send these demons back to hell,” Jessica said as she lowered one hand to the side of her. “Savior, lord of the light. Hear my call, protect us in this time of need, and let my weapon swiftly cut down my enemies. Let light show, as it prevails over darkness,” Jessica said as her hand started to glow and shine the same way Nicks did and slowly something started to appear, and slowly form. It was a long sword with a blade that shined so bright it looked like the sun itself was in the blade itself. Lucuris was in awe at what he was seeing, he thought Jessica looked so beautiful as the rays of light shined onto her and made her look like an Angel. “Thank you, father, let us take these demons down Odin,” Jessica said looking at Odin then back at her weapon and then charging forth with it and knight in shining armor by her side. She felt like nothing could stop her. Jessica could feel large amounts of energy spread throughout her body and she knew her, and Nick could take these beasts down. She swiped down at the demons that came by her with the blade of her sword and destroying each one with a single hit. Odin himself took his sword and shield and stayed by Jessica’s side. He made sure he was able to protect her blind spots, as he swept thru enemies with her as an army of one.

The demons seemed to stop coming. Odin and Jessica were able to take down as many demons as they could. Odin looked around the sky to see if he could sense anything, but everything seemed to be fine. “My lady, it seems me and you were able to beat these monsters,” Odin said with a lighthearted chuckle.

Nick then came close to where Jessica and Odin were, with Amaterasu by his side. He was glad that the demons stopped coming, he didn’t know how much longer he would have been able to keep fighting them. “Man, that was a lot of demons. Shit am I tired. Thanks for he
lping me out back there guys,” Nick said holding one arm with his hand. It seemed like the fight took out more than just his energy. It put a big strain on his body. His face started to look pale and he started to slowly lose consciousness. Amaterasu grabbed Nick’s lapel of his jacket and slowly guided him to the ground close to where Lucuris and everyone else was.

“Oh man is Nick ok?” Lucuris asked looking at Amaterasu and Jessica with a concerned look.

“He will be fine, just seems he used up more energy than we thought. He just needs some rest,” Oracle said while checking Nick’s body for a pulse.

At that moment Lucuris looked down at Abigail and saw that she was beginning to wake up from being attacked. Her eyes started to open up, and at first looked at Lucuris and smiled at him. Then she saw that they were outside, and saw Nick laying down next to Oracle, and Jessica with her familiar, she felt lost. “Wh-what the hell happened?” Abigail asked as she was being helped up to her feet with the assistance of her brother.

“You were attacked sis, by these demons and the rest of the gang tried protecting you. They came in swarms. Luckily for us we had Nick, Jessica, and their familiars,” Lucuris said while looking at Jessica, Odin, and Amaterasu.

Abigail looked at her friends, she was glad they were all there together. She was grateful for what they did to protect her. The only thing bothering her was Nick was harmed because of her, his body had small scratches all over him as they slowly bled. Amaterasu was able to protect Nick but not fully. Some of the demons’ attack were able to hit him. She was upset for what happened to him, she felt a bit useless because Zee wasn’t able to assist everyone while she was out of it. “Shit...I'm so sorry guys I didn’t see the demons that attacked me. Nick must be mad at me, he got himself hurt all because of me,” Abigail said as she started to go towards Nick’s unconscious body with tears filling her face.
