Lillian was in tears and Corbin kissed them away. They walked into the room and Corbin assisted her to her coffin, closed the lid, and once again his voice filled her head until she was asleep.

This time when Lillian awoke she was not as scared, and she even arose before Corbin. She got out of her coffin with ease and went to pick her clothes out for the day. She chose a back cotton dress and a simple pair of sandals. The weather was cold but she had mortal girls wearing less at the club the previous night. She got dressed and she was startled to find Corbin right behind her smiling at her outfit choice. She went to the other room and got dressed as Corbin was looking for his clothing. He had chosen a pair of black linen pants and a white linen shirt as well as sandals. They looked like the picture perfect couple of the immortal world if there ever was one. Once they were both completely dressed Lillian began to make her way downstairs as the usual fashion to join the club patrons but Corbin stopped her. Lillian looked at him with a puzzled look and he just smiled.

“Now my love, tonight is the night when you and I exchange blood. After you drink from me, you will find the urge to feed will become less and less. You really won’t have to feed unless you choose to. My blood is the most powerful and most ancient, and your powers will become even more than you could ever imagine. I have only done this type of exchange once before, and she turned into something dark and evil, her name was Marie. Still to this day no one has laid eyes on her nor have I heard from her, but that is a story for another time. I will warn you now, this will hurt, my blood will make you feel as if you are on fire, but rest assured you will not burn” Corbin pulled Lillian into his embrace. Lillian knew she should be afraid to receive a gift such as this from one so powerful, but she wasn’t. Corbin pulled her hair to the side and the exchange began.

Lillian was lost in the memories just as she was before, but Corbin’s were so strong and so vivid that she actually felt the heat of the fire from his masters going into the sun. She cried out in agony and Corbin pulled away. He guided her head to his neck and she pierced his flesh. The rush of his blood set her on fire and she tried to pull away, but Corbin forced her to feed from him. She moaned in agony as she fed. She had never felt this intense pain in her entire life, mortal and immortal alike. Corbin forced her to drink, and then he fed off her again. The exchange went over again and again until both of their blood was mingled together. They were now bound together for all eternity.

Once the exchange was done, Lillian was weak but her mind was wide awake. She looked over at Corbin and noticed that he was just as weak but he was smiling at her. As her mind was flooded with memories and her blood was on fire, she did her best to relax. Corbin wrapped his arms around her and they both stayed in a demonic embrace until they had their composure once again. They relaxed and walked over towards the widow and noticed the sun was beginning to rise. Lillian was shocked, she had no idea that the exchange took as long as it did. The exchange of their blood didn’t take nowhere near as long as it did with the triplets or the twins. Corbin explained that what happened with the others was nothing compared to what they did. He told her that they fed off of each other nearly to the point of death, and then replenished. Lillian nodded and she understood completely. She tried her best to relax, but one image kept coming into her mind, it was a woman. This woman had deep blue eyes, jaw length black hair, pale skin and a smile so sinister that it sent chills up her spine! Corbin looked at her and said “The woman you see is Marie. She is very powerful, maybe even more powerful than me. If Brandon’s cry reaches her, then we may be in for trouble. But for now let’s sleep, tomorrow we will begin to gather others and prepare for the war.” Lillian looked into his eyes and once again they went to their coffins for their immortal slumber.

Lillian had troubled dreams that day. They were plagued with war and death. When she was a mortal, all she had to do to stop a bad dream was to close her eyes real tight and she would wake up, safe in her bed. This little trick didn’t work; she had to suffer through it. In the dream, she saw the triplets being ripped apart limb from limb by Marie. She laughed a maniacal laugh as each one scream in agony! Brandon was in the dream, and he was feeding off the twins, draining them until there was nothing left but a bag of bones. Corbin was bleeding out at Marie’s feet, begging her to stop! Lillian herself was nailed to a tree and could not move. All she could do was sit and watch as her new family was being murdered right before her eyes. She was screaming in agony when she was finally awakened by Corbin.“Oh! Corbin! The nightmare I had. She was killing everyone and we couldn’t stop her” Lillian cried as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

“I know darling, I had the same dream. We will fight them, and we will lose. This is one thing I never saw coming, but the fact that you and I shared the same nightmare tells me this is the future. The time is now and I can sense Marie, I feel her getting closer and closer. I can hear her voice. It is just a whisper now, but Brandon has called her and she has awakened from her slumber. I just don’t understand why she decided to answer him and why now. Over the centuries I have heard others cry out for her assistance, and she replied with setting them ablaze. Perhaps it is the fact that Brandon is calling out for my destruction. She has hated me from the very beginning. I have killed many of her fledglings over the centuries, so she has had hatred for me, and as I have for her. One thing I didn’t tell you was that she was made the same time I was. The reason for that was because my master and I didn’t know that she survived the exchange of the blood. She screamed in agony and fell into a deep sleep. We buried her in his family tomb. As I told you what I had done after, Marie awoke and went insane. No one knows how long she was locked in that tomb, and when she was let out, she fed off of every human that she saw, men, women, and the purest blood of them all, infants. She has no soul, no rhyme or reason other than to kill and feed off of mortal and immortal alike. She remembered my face as she was carried into the tomb. I have never seen her face to face but have seen glimpses of her in the minds of other vampires, and in the blood of the ones I have fed from. She is cruel Lillian, the cruelest and to be honest no one can blame her. I knew that she would find me one day. Don’t be afraid, the only harm that will ever come to you is watching our demise. Don’t you see? In my visions I killed her, I sacrificed myself to save you! Marie is evil, but a woman of her word. Let’s find the others and get ready, our time is over, she is here as we speak. I sense her and I hear Brandon and the others. Lillian we have to find the others right now!”

Corbin grabbed Lillian by the hand and they ran out of the room. As soon as they reached their sitting room they realized the club was empty but the music was still playing. Corbin grabbed Lillian and shoved her behind him. Lillian didn’t know why he did that until she heard a female laughing. She knew it was Marie. Marie was so powerful that not only did she mask herself; she masked Brandon and twenty other vampires as well. Lillian had never been so scared in her entire life and she knew that Marie sensed her fear. Corbin hissed at Marie and before he knew what happed, Lillian was lifted into the air and was now in front of Marie. Marie grabbed Lillian by her throat and said “Corbin, my dear little brother, your pathetic life for hers!” Lillian looked to her right and she saw the triplets. There were ten vampires ripping them apart, and to her left she saw what was left of the twins. She tried to open her mouth to scream but Marie gripped her throat even tighter.

“Marie, do not hurt her! Okay, I will not fight you, but you let her go now!”

Marie laughed and dropped Lillian to the ground. Lillian got to her feet and tried to run, but Brandon grabbed her and held her. Brandon was stronger than her and Lillian knew why, he had fed off of Marie, she knew that they had exchanged blood just as Corbin and she had done the night before. Lil
lian was now full of rage and fought as hard as she could. She clawed Brandon’s flesh from his face, but as soon as she did it healed. There was no stopping them, but Lillian did not give up, she continued to hit and claw his face and Brandon just laughed at her. Corbin was now standing in front of Marie, and as if on cue, the music that was playing in the club stopped.

“After all this time we are finally face to face little one.”

  “Marie, let her go.”

“Oh so I see you will wait for her, sacrifice your life for hers, but yet you left me to rot!”

“We thought my Master’s blood killed you. If we knew that you were just in a deep slumber you would have been with us from that moment on!”

“You don’t get it Corbin! He knew that I was alive; he knew that the disease he attempted to cure me from had taken its toll on my brain. He locked me away to rot because he didn’t have the heart to kill me. He had his successor, you!”

Marie’s blood red lips spread into the most maniacal and sinister smile that Lillian had ever seen and she knew what was about to happen. She and Corbin’s dreams were not exactly like what was happening but the similarities were very close. Without hesitation, Marie rammed her hand inside Corbin’s rib cage, and when she removed it, she held his still beating heart in her hands. Corbin dropped to his knees and looked over at Lillian. The last words that had escaped lips were “I love you Lillian” and he fell face first on the floor. Marie laughed and ate Corbin’s heart. Lillian began to scream as loud as she could and all of the other vampires, except Marie and Brandon, dropped to their knees and blood was now pouring out of their ears. Marie glared at Brandon and ordered him to kill Lillian before they all died. Brandon looked at Lillian and said “With pleasure my queen” and began to squeeze. Lillian didn’t care, her coven was destroyed and she wanted to join them. She closed her eyes tight and waited for her death.

  BEEP! BEEP! BEE! BEEP!

Lillian opened her eyes and sat straight up in her bed. She turned her head and looked out of her window as the first snow of winter began to fall. Her heart was beating in her chest so fast she thought that it was going to explode. She looked over at her alarm, sighed and plopped back down in her bed. She heard a knocked on her door telling her she needed to get ready for her first day of school. Lillian grunted, got out of bed and got ready for school.

She waked into her first class and she almost dropped to her knees when she walked in the door. There were the triplets from her dream! They looked exactly Annabelle, Angelic and Alicia; there were the twins, Dagan and Damien as well. She tried her best not to look too obvious as she made her way to her seat. She sat her books on her desk and looked over at the window. What she saw almost made her cry! There was Brandon and Corbin talking as if they were old friends, seems in reality they were. Brandon noticed her looking and pointed it out to Corbin who looked at her and smiled. Her eyes were wide open and she quickly looked back at her books, pretending to look inside them. The bell rang and the teacher walked in the room. Lillian looked up and almost died in her seat, it was Marie.

“Okay guys take your seats. You know if you are not in your seat I will mark you as late. So seems we have a few new students in the class. Let me see, Annabelle, Angelic and Alicia Marks, Damien and Dagan Corney, Corbin Page, Brandon Nichols and Lillian Montgomery. Being that you are new to my class I will go over a few basic rules. This is my class and I call the shots. I don’t care where you came from and how it was back home. This is here and now. So with that being said take out your literature books and open to page three hundred and forty five. Today we will be reading Bram Stoker’s Dracula.”

Lillian smiled and opened her book. As her teacher began to read she felt a tap on her shoulder, and a folded up piece of paper was handed to her. She grabbed it and opened it and smiled as she read:

Hey, seems we are all new here in this class. Why don’t you meet us after school so we can hang out and grab some pizza? By the way I think you are very pretty.

  Corbin

Lillian looked over and saw Corbin staring at her and smiling. Lillian smiled back and nodded her head yes that she would. Lillian turned back and began to follow along with the story that her teacher was reading aloud. Seems moving out here to Indiana was not so bad after all. The bell rang and Lillian was the last to leave the classroom. When she walked down the steps, there they all were, waiting for her. She fell right in and they all began to talk as if they had been friends for years. The twins were flirting with Angelic and Alicia, Brandon had his arm wrapped around Annabelle and Lillian and Corbin were walking behind them all talking as well. They walked in the pizza shop and ordered a large cheese pie and eight cherry cokes. This was too surreal for Lillian but she enjoyed every minute of it. On the way home Corbin asked for her number and she gladly gave it to him. He walked her home and before she walked up her driveway he kissed her on her cheek and ran off to catch up with the guys.

Lillian walked inside her house with a huge smile on her face. Her mother saw her and asked how was her first day at school, to which she replied, “It was the best day of my life.”
