Leira wrinkled her nose. “I like to think of myself as a normie who found out she has magical abilities.”
Correk let out a deep breath. “Lucius will make a great leader for the bounty hunters. That was a good call, Leira.”
Leira shrugged. “He’s a warrior. He knows how to fight magic. He understands magic and shifters, and he appreciates humans and this world. Sure, he’s a bit rough, but a little bit of time in politics and he’ll be just fine. Besides, he’s one of my people. You know, the people I trust within the magical community. This will give him the ability to bring shifters and good magical people together on Earth. Not to mention that the dark magicals, at least the few who are still out there, are absolutely terrified of him at this point.”
Correk chuckled. “It’s hard not to be terrified of him. So, what’s next for you? Are you planning to continue being a bounty hunter?”
Leira put her hands together and glanced at him. “Actually, I’ve been thinking about something that the queen proposed. Earth has bounty hunters, but I’m thinking that Oriceran might need one too. Things there aren’t nearly as stable as they used to be. They’re almost worse than they are here. I’ve left the bounty program in very good hands, and they’re already in the process of training new bounty hunters.”
She tilted her head and gave him a crooked smile. “If we went to Oriceran, Yumfuck could visit home, you can see old friends, and I would get to learn about the place my ancestors came from.” Leira laid her hand on Correk’s chest. “It’s our chance to do some good for that planet like we’ve done for Earth.”
Correk nodded, “I like the idea. It’ll be an extended vacation, except we have to work.”
Leira shrugged and kissed Correk on the cheek. “You know, some people go to Hawaii for vacation, but I think it’s time we went to Oriceran.”
“More adventures to come.”
“Always.”

A lot has happened in the past year. Michael and I built a universe and saw it take off, starting with The Leira Chronicles – the flagship series that included that troll… Yumfuck Tiberius Troll.
Now, here we are hitting the pause button, giving the series a rest so we can try out some different characters – like Daniel in the Daniel Codex series, or Alison after she graduates from high school. Just a couple of the stories headed your way soon.
Leira, Correk and the troll will be back – especially if there’s a lot of Fan Fervor to bring them back – so stay in touch.
I have loved creating Leira – a kickass female character who runs into the fray first, doesn’t ask questions later and only swears when she’s awake. Correk is a hot, hunky Light Elf who’s loyal with a dry sense of humor and a penchant for junk food. The troll is a tiny zen creature who can fart orange clouds until Leira is threatened and then he can become what she needs – a warrior by her side.
Then there’s the backdrop of Austin and Washington, DC – two of my favorite places. I even got to hang out with some fans at the Jackalope – we need to do more of that – and celebrate some of the great things about these places like Voodoo Doughnuts or Rainey Street.
Best of all though, is the interaction I get to have daily with fans who write us all the time about how these books have made you laugh through the hard times, and made things a little easier. One of my fave stories – the fan who was told no exercise and laughed so hard at the troll he had an angina attack. Or the fan who woke up every night at 2 am in pain and the stories lulled them back to sleep. There are hundreds of those notes by now and we treasure them all as much as we treasure all of you.
Thanks for joining us on this ride and buckle up because we’re not done in Oriceran yet – not by a long shot! Aloha everybody! More adventures to follow.

THANK YOU for not only reading this story but these Author Notes as well and also to my collaborator in crime for twelve amazing books, Martha Carr.
Here we are (basically) in book twelve (12) of the Leira Chronicles storyline. We have more Leira to give you, but she will be intertwined in other stories going on in the Oriceran Universe.
Leira, Yumfuck, and Correk. (I can imagine a kids’ book coming out with Yumfuck, but how the hell would we market him to a younger audience?)
Believe it or not, it was JUST over a year ago we introduced Leira to the world (July 31, 2018) and she went on to become the cornerstone of the Oriceran Universe for the next year. Under her guiding hand, we grew the Oriceran Universe into five different series.
Martha and I crafted the prologue with our collaborators, which allowed us to kick out our second generation of stories including the School of Necessary Magic (Alison Brownstone), Fear No Evil (Shay Carson) and The Unbelievable Mr. Brownstone. Now, we are adding the Daniel Codex series, another School of Necessary Magic arc and then Alison Brownstone herself.
Oriceran is growing!
If you would like to see other areas of Oriceran, don’t hesitate to jump over to Facebook and get on the Oriceran Facebook page and let us know!
As always, if you enjoyed the stories (ours or any author’s) place a review on the books. It helps us sell to the next fan.
Bullet Train
Right now, I’m riding the bullet train between Beijing and Shanghai, China. I can’t explain exactly why, but I’m fascinated with their trees. To me, the wonder of China is often the trees they paint in their art and the images of their mountains with trees running up and down the mountainsides.
I have no idea if I will pass mountains on this trip (I hope so. I should have paid attention to a map before we left) but the one thing I don’t have anymore is a fear of coming to China. While I’m not a fan of some items (as I’m sure those who live in China might not be a fan of my country), I found the people and the experience (so far) pretty amazing.
The taxi rides are freaking cheap, most of the food and other items are about par with costs in America, and a trip to the Great Wall should be made when I’m in better physical shape.
Which probably means never.
It was cool being on the Great Wall, but CRAP was that a lot of steps! If you go, take the little slide down the mountain, it was a neat experience where you realize this might not happen in the USA for litigious reasons. I’d go again just to take that slide if I were promised I wouldn’t have a very slow-moving person in front of me.
OH OH! (I see mountains in the distance, so fun!)
I also see a huge number of buildings that look the same. They certainly re-use architecture plans. The (tenement?) buildings are unbelievably tall and make me think of the latest Judge Dredd film. There are trees everywhere. Lots of green space in Beijing.
I learned that a thumb- up is fairly universally understood in China, as well.
So, THUMBS-UP on Leira, and we will see her in the School of Necessary Magic after we allow her some rest.
Ad Aeternitatem,
Michael Anderle
