I knew it…she’s a goddamn closet freak! How did I get this lucky?!
The notion threatened to bring sentimental tears to his eyes.
The woman had turned the tables and shocked the hell out of him. He yanked her hair, trying to look into her eyes, plead his case, but that only seemed to make her more determined to pleasure him. He wasn’t going to accept this…Sweet, little innocent Brooklyn was a head doctor, professional in every sense of the word as she twirled the tip of her tongue up and down and along the underside of his shaft. It was now official. She was going to make him lose his fucking cool and blow his load right then and there. Oh no…this had to be stopped, immediately — but only for now.
“Hold on...” He pushed her away with one hand while he stood to his feet, a little wobbly on his legs. His cock bobbed about, slick with her spit. Before she had the chance to protest or wrangle him back into the chair, he lifted her, placed her on the damn desk, and pushed her thighs open, making her coo. He surveyed her from head to toe, still under the rapture of this heavenly sent package.
Wait a second…
He swooped and reached for his wallet.
This shit wasn’t planned. We’ve not discussed precautions…
He sheathed himself and climbed onto the desk, aroused from the wanton look in her eyes as he yanked her forward. She clasped her arms around his neck as he pressed his body onto hers, then planted a gentle kiss across her pouty lips and stroked the sides of her hair. They were in the moment. Quiet. And everything turned serious…
“Ace…” She ran her fingertips along her collarbone.
“Yes…”
“I…really care about you...” Her voice trailed away. She smiled lightly, her eyes a little wide as he moved his arm between their bodies and adjusted himself.
He knew she wanted to say more, so much more. Instead of giving her a sappy response or pretending this was less than it was, he sealed their fate with a kiss. With that kiss, he made a promise to her, one she could hold onto and never have to abandon or fear. He shivered upon contact.
“Ahhhh….Ahhhhh!” Her eyes rolled back and she screamed out while he entered her.
“Mmmmm….feels….so…gooooood!” He moaned, stroke after leisurely stroke. His body shook, felt as though he melted within her softness and heat.
“Baby, you’re so tight…”
He thrust a bit harder, stronger, her walls constricting around his wide cock. The warmth of her thighs wrapping around him had him bite his bottom lip and close his eyes, disappearing in the sensations. Sliding his hand behind her neck, he took her lips, sucking the top one, then the bottom one, savoring them after each and every thrust. Her warm breath and sighs entered his mouth as he lavished her and increased his stride. The peg-legged desk began to rock as he moved harder and faster within her.
“Ahhhh…that feels good, real good,” she coo’ed, seemingly unable to speak as his ass clenched and relaxed with each thrust.
“Uhhh…Uh!” He pumped harder, loving every second of it, calling her his own in his mind and with his cock. “Uhhh!” All the pain inside of him dissipated, ran away like the wild horses…With each thrust, he knew her more. With each sigh that tumbled from between her lips, he knew her better. Her pussy coated him, the warmth driving him crazy. He could still taste her in his mouth…a delicacy he never wanted to let go. He knew, before he laid her down on that damn desk, what was happening. He knew, as he looked at her from behind in the museum, as she explained so eloquently to him about the first tools discovered on Northern American soil, that not only did he want to use his own tool to plough into her sweet Earth, but he understood that they were falling in love…
He picked her up on impulse, causing her to gasp. Wrapping her legs tightly around his waist, they diligently kissed one another as he gently carried her, their naked, warm bodies pressed tight. He stopped at a wall and pressed her against it.
“Hold on tight to me, baby…” he said, then pushed strong and deep within her.
She gripped him, the heels of her feet pressed into his lower back. Her lips parted on a loud sigh. He couldn’t get enough of her sliding up and down the damn wall as he pounded upward inside her, his groin having a mind of its own.
“Uh! Mmmm….Uhhh! Your pussy feels like hot caramel running down a sundae…”
He caught her smile as her gaze hooked his.
“It’s just you and me…I hope you understand that,” he admitted, unable to control himself as he held her steady and felt his climax approaching.
Mine!
“Just me and you, do you understand me?!”
“Yes! You have me.” She grabbed his face in between her trembling hands and kissed him hard. Returning her fervor, he lunged inside of her, faster and faster, their bodies slamming together.
“Uh! Uhhhh!” He gasped and pressed hard into her… She moaned. “Uhhh, shit!I’m cumming…” He thrust so fast and deep into her, the pictures on the wall vibrated, threatened to fall and shatter.
“Uhhhh! Uhhh! Mmmmm!....Uh….uh…shit…” He smiled in the crevice of her neck as his body jerked, until he slowly settled.
Mine…
And then, they simply held one another. Looked at each other, exchanging a gentle smile or two. After a few moments, he carried her in his arms back to the desk chair and sat her on his lap. He leaned back, placed his arm behind his head and took a deep breath. He drifted in thought as his sexual release and exuberance slowly subsided, and made a decision.
“So, how’d you like to go horseback riding with me next week?”

Dr. Rose’s checkered sweater looked good over his crisp white shirt. His eyes darkened behind the veil of his glasses as he clasped his hands, no doubt feeling like a bit of a prude due to the change in discussion. Ace normally didn’t discuss his sex life with others, not even his closest friends — it just wasn’t his style. But under the circumstances, there simply was no way around it.
“And this has been ongoing?”
“Yes…” Ace leaned back in the seat. A chill brushed past him, causing the hairs on his wrists to rise. “We’ve been having sex most of the week, now. It is constant. I can barely get my work done. We meet for lunch.” He scratched his cheek. “Sometimes lunch would turn into swinging by her apartment, or going to my place... She’s been to my house several times now, to spend the night, too.”
“And how do you feel about this new development?”
Ace sighed and crossed his arms, sat back thinking for awhile. “Well, we’re even closer. It feels good, actually. The timing was right. I’m…in love with her.”
Dr. Rose swallowed and tapped his fingers against his desk.
“This has gone on far enough, don’t you think? I would be irresponsible if I didn’t bring up, once again, the fact that—”
“I know.” Ace slid his hand against his chest as if he had heartburn. “She still doesn’t know…I know what I need to do, I’ll do it. Now that we’ve made love, it’s even harder, though. I am certain she feels the same way about me, Dr. Rose.”
“Well, if she does, then she’d respect you coming clean.”
“Respect it?” Ace laughed lightly and shrugged. “I don’t believe so. I know I’m hurting her by doing this…I know I am. I need some time to figure this out. I think, shit…” He rubbed his forehead as his thoughts became muddled.
“Just take a deep breath, and take your time,” the doctor reassured.
“We had a discussion about our future, even. It was a pretty serious talk.”
“What did you say to one another?”
“That, you know, I want to be with her, and she wanted to be with me. I wanted her to open up to me, and she did. She didn’t tell me that she was on the run or anything like that, but she was frank about leaving home. I couldn’t believe it…” He ran his hand down the side of his face as he replayed the conversation in is mind. “She said that people don’t know. That she was real close to her family but because of
a situation that she still refuses to tell me, she had to leave… I was shocked actually…you know, that she’d do that for me. It had to take a lot out of her; the woman really trusts me, now.”
“Mmmmhmmmm…go on.” Dr. Rose twirled an ink pen between his fingers.
“We talked about being together, not knowing exactly what the future holds, but…admitting we want to find out. We even discussed what we want, like kids, things like that.” He swallowed. “I never wanted children, Dr. Rose. Well,” he nodded and raised his hand, “Let me take that back. I didn’t care either way, actually. I figured that if I ever got married, which I believed was doubtful, my future wife might want kids and if she did, fine, if she didn’t, that was even better. But with her, I can see it as a possibility, you know? I think she’d make a great mother actually. She is very nurturing and caring.”
Dr. Rose sat back in his seat and glared at him.
“Mr. Blackstone, are you prepared for the situation to become even more complicated by, say, an unplanned pregnancy?”
“I don’t know.” He shrugged. “I have some fears, but probably not for the reason you’re getting at.”
“What fears?”
“My disorder. I’m dyslexic. I’m sure you saw it in my paperwork.” Ace nodded at the manila file lying on the man’s desk. “I mentioned it where it asked about my health history.”
“And you’re concerned because it is believed that dyslexia is hereditary, correct?”
“Yes. I never gave it much thought until now. So, if she and I do have a baby, the baby could end up messed up.”
“Ace, your dyslexia isn’t a ‘mess up.’ If anything, it has aided you in your profession but I don’t want to get too off track right now.”
Ace nodded. “Yeah, but it still bothers me.”
“Okay, let’s look at this way, though.” Dr. Rose smiled. “Wouldn’t you want a father like you, someone who understands and is overcoming the disorder? Not only that, you said she is a loving, nurturing person. Wouldn’t she be ideal, if such a thing were to happen?”
Ace sighed. “You know, you’re right.” He grinned. “You’re absolutely right.”
“Now, back to the possibility of fatherhood, the dyslexia aside. Are you concerned?”
“She’s on the pill. I used protection the first couple of times, before I knew, and then we talked about it, so I stopped using the condoms.”
“Is that customary for you?”
“What? If a woman is on birth control I stop using condoms and do her bare back?” Ace smiled. “Hell, no. I would still use the rubbers. I was like, seventeen, the last time I did something that stupid, you know. A girl tells you she’s on the pill so you don’t strap up. Nah, I stopped with Brooklyn because I feel differently about her. I know what you’re thinking, and I know how this sounds, but she and I are committed to one another. I trust her.” Ace shrugged.
“Mr. Blackstone, I need to ask you a question.” Dr. Rose slowly swiveled in his chair. “Do you believe you want to marry her?”
Ace swallowed.
“I don’t know.” He felt himself withdrawing. The emotions were becoming a bit too raw.
Dr. Rose smiled and nodded, as if he knew a secret he refused to disclose.
“Ace, it’s okay…” he said calmly, his eyes smiling as much as his upturned lips. “I think you do know, and that’s what concerns you…”

CHAPTER THIRTEEN
It was rather odd to see a multitude of cars from the highway, and twelve horses running wild in the field. Ace shuffled his feet on the semi-frozen ground and watched the mares move from one end to the other, their burnished, flying manes and tails waving about, reminiscent of russet, white and ebony flags flapping about in the brisk wind. It had been awhile since he’d been horseback riding, but after mulling over how much Brooklyn enjoyed horses as well, but had not ridden one since she was a child, he surmised the timing was perfect, and it was long overdue.
“Mr. Blackstone!” the trainer called out, a pointy-chinned man with reddish skin that appeared wind-burned and sun damaged. He approached at a brisk pace, his steps eager, pounding the ground. Ace grabbed the trainer’s offered hand while Brooklyn stood in the background, holding herself with an unmistakable look of giddiness on her face, at least the portion he could see that was not cloaked by her long, woven brown scarf.
“Wonderful to see you. It’s been a while. So,” the man clapped his hands and looked towards the field, “you wish to ride Duke and Georgia, correct?”
“Yes, those are my choices.” He rolled back on his heels and ran a palm across his neck, working out a crick. Duke was a honey stallion that Ace had selected for Brooklyn — big, powerful, yet gentle. Georgia was a midnight black mare with a temper, but she rode so smooth, you’d forget she’d tried to buck a man to death sometime before. Regardless of her past, she always behaved for Ace when he came up to ride, and she’d been mated with Duke several times in the past. He viewed them as a couple, just like his office mannequins whom he’d paired without their consent.
“Okay, Janet is saddling them up for you, just wait right here and I’ll see you after your ride.”
Ace nodded, backed away and took Brooklyn by her wrist.
“It’s so pretty out here…so peaceful,” she said as she peered at the light blue sky.
“Yeah, it is.” He intertwined his fingers with hers. Briefly, he turned away from her, fixated on the sizeable reddish-brown barns, then looked back into her eyes. Her hair blew in a million directions, the kinky twists swaying in the wind, spiraling out of her scalp like dark, winding floral stems.
“Hey, Brooklyn…” He pressed into her, wanting to steal a kiss before the great reveal. He was not only there to give her a date she’d not soon forget…but to tell her the truth.
Looking into his eyes, she wrapped a hand around the back of his neck. “Yes?”
Suddenly the horses were brought forth, their hooves beating against the ground while Janet, a groundskeeper he’d known since forever, handed over the reigns.
“Nice to see ya again, Ace.” The older woman with long, blond braided hair nodded and winked, then turned on her booted heels and walked back towards the grand barns.
“So beautiful…”
Brooklyn seemed to drift into a dream world as she ran her fingers across each horse’s back. Ace wasn’t sure she remembered he was there anymore, and he was okay with that, because she was enjoying herself. He could sense the change. She relaxed as she laid eyes on the two majestic beasts, going somewhere deep inside of herself, somewhere safe, free from harm. After a few moments, he came up behind her, wrapped his hands around her small waist and helped her onto Duke.
“He is big! I feel like I’m thirty feet tall.” She laughed as she got situated. “I hope this is like riding a bike. I hope I’ll remember how to do this.”
“You will.” He turned and got on Georgia, petted her sweetly and then, the two trod side by side at a slow pace. Though brisk, the sun was bright and pure, making the sky look clean, as if it had been drenched in cerulean watercolor paint. The air had a cool sweetness about it, and the grass was so green, the fall weather hadn’t kissed it quite yet to turn it brown, short and stubby, like their blade cousins in the city.
She reached over and grabbed his hand as they went on, keeping her gaze ahead. He looked at their fingers wrapping around one another for a good while, then turned away to look straight forward. The only sound was the occasional barn door opening and closing, and the horses’ gentle gallop.
“I used to ride horses during the summers with my family…then after that, we’d ride them in boarding school.”
There. I’ve said it. Start at the top, and end with my hiring…
Brooklyn kept holding his hand. He glanced at her to gauge her reaction. The damn woman didn’t have one. Sure, everyone has a reaction, but this was unreadable. He wasn’t sure what to make of it, but he continued.
“There’s something I h
aven’t told you. Actually, there are a few things I haven’t told you. One of which, I had a rough start in the world. Luckily, two people tried to make that better, change it for me, change fate. My parents got me when I was about two. I was adopted.” It’s not that he had intentionally not told the woman. But being with her, he actually managed to not think about it for a change. She kept him at peace, at ease with the fact he considered Sarah and Gregory his parents, not these phantoms that had left him all alone.
He sensed her looking at him, but he hesitated to return the gaze, not sure if he wanted to yet see a change in her disposition. But then he chanced it, and there she was, showing the most peaceful, authentic smile on her face. Not a big smile, but it was there, and he wanted to press his lips to it. Adoption was common, not a secret, but all the details surrounding it were so. He’d never told anyone else before…but with her, it seemed like a good starting place.
“You seem like you turned out well and I’m glad a good family found you, from the sound of things.” She squeezed his hand a bit tighter. “Ace, why didn’t you tell me this sooner? We’ve talked about our families, all sorts of things. Not once did you mention it.”
“I’m sorry for not telling you sooner. It wasn’t that I wanted to hide my past; it really wasn’t anything I put much thought into. I’ve spent the better of two months trying to focus on other things, more positive things, and I just,” he shrugged, “I just didn’t say anything.”
For moments on end, the clip clopping of the horses was the only sound to be heard.
“You said you were in boarding school?”
“Mmmm hmmm.”
“Why?”
“Why?” He shrugged and grimaced. “Shit, because I was a bad kid.” He laughed dismally.
“It’s hard for me to think of you that way…but now that I actually do think about it, smart kids sometimes have peculiar struggles.”
“It wasn’t because I was smart.” He released her hand to slow down Georgia, pulling on the reign ever so gently. “I was acting out. I wasn’t controllable and my parents didn’t know what else to do with me.” He looked at her earnestly.
