  8. Ivy, Brooklyn’s best friend, is a cherished friend. Why do you think that Ivy and Brooklyn’s unconventional boss/employee relationship worked so well?

  9. The book is purposefully layered with symbolism. The horses, the weather, etc. For example, the horses were from an actual incident, but they did in fact represent Ace. What other symbolism did you find in the story?

  10. At the end of the book, we see that Ace sees a woman at the airport who looks like his birth mother. He is unsure, after it is all over, whether he’d seen his mother’s ghost or not. What do you think? Do you believe it was his mother’s ghost come to visit, or just a woman waiting for her luggage?

  11. Dyslexia is a neurological disorder that affects how a person reads and writes language/data/information. It is triggered by an impairment in the brain's ability to decipher images received from the eyes or ears into comprehensible language. Imagine looking at the word: CAT, but your brain tells you it is TAC or ACT. This disorder does not result from vision or hearing problems. It is not due to mental retardation, brain damage, or a lack of intelligence. Ace has this disorder and it caused him to try even harder, to find ‘odd’ ways to compensate and cope. This aided in him being OCD, due to his need to compartmentalize information in his mind, so that he was able to read and write better. We know the struggles he had with this disorder, but in what did it possibly help him in his life and his profession?

  12. Ace and Brooklyn are deeply in love, despite the original nature and reason for their initial meeting. What do you believe enabled them to get over their hurdles, as a team?

  13. Brooklyn is a highly intelligent, attractive, at times socially awkward person, in part due to her need to stay hidden. She is also loving and kind, and sometimes sacrifices her own happiness, to help other people. As her character develops, you see she desires for this aspect of her to change, thus, she goes on a date with Ace. What similarities do you see with yourself regarding this character, and what differences?
