The Church of G.O’D. (slang COGOD)
A religion formed to worship the creator of Sol, Gary O’Drae.
The Ordinance
The Church of G.O’D.’s collection of sacred texts and scriptures.
3arth (pronounced earth)
The Sol version of the planet Earth, replicated exactly to how it was on January 1st, 2020. Named by Gary O’Drae when he launched Sol version 2, calling the new in-Sim Earth, ‘3arth’, using the alphanumericabet.
Darknet
An underground overlay network within Sol, principally used for trading illicit goods.
Oldearthers
Users who were of adult or near adult age at the time of The Devastation (born circa 2010 or before).
Alphanumericabet
The new form of international alphabet, which uses a combination of numbers, letters and some standard symbols. Launched by Sol-Corp in 2023, and now prevalent in-Sim, especially in naming avatars and corporations.
Reset
Occurring once at the end of year on Rebirth Day, Sol is reset so that 3arth returns to how it was on January 1st, 2020
R3al 3state
Properties within Sol. Corporations and users can buy private properties in-Sim. Those on 3arth existed in realworld in 2020; all property exteriors are reverted to their 2020 state each Reset. The market also stretches to locales on other planets, such as the retail areas on Mars or Amalthea. Additionally, more exclusive markets include the purchase of asteroids or, on occasion, an entire small moon.
Governor’s Island
An island in New York, with a view of the Statue of Liberty. Where Ana regularly visits to think and relax.
The Hub
Subvert system within Sol, constructed for performing updates. Not used for this purpose since 3arth was locked in version 2.
Solspace
Outer Space inside the Sol simulation.
Arena Terms
Arena
Event zones where competitions are held in Sol. For example, Bounty Hunters take place on Io, one of Jupiter’s moons, and Amalthea hosts Marksmanship, Biathlons and archery. In addition to various types, Arena settings vary also, with options such as Alien, Role Play, Historic, Futuristic and Movie settings. Special Arena-only avatar configurations are possible within the event only.
Remembrance Festival
At the end of each year, starting in the last week of Halley’s, a myriad of events and Arenas are held within Sol, covering all sports, pastimes and competitions. These events often occur in special Arenas and boast the best prizes of the year, sometimes lifechanging for the victor.
Bounty Hunter
Regular Arena tournaments where players get a cash prize for each player they black-screen, as well as for placing in the event. Most frequently held on Io, special events are hosted on Callisto.
Marksmanship
Arena tournament on the asteroid Amalthea, in the impact crater Pan. Consists of a series of ranges of up to one kilometre, and boasts the most realistic weather replication in-Sim.
Team Arena
Groups of four players band together to compete against other teams. If one player is black-screened, the entire team leaves the Arena.
Cluster-zone
The area where players gather before the start of an Arena. Also houses the prize stage and sponsor booths for post Arena presentation ceremonies.
Black-screen
To be ‘killed’ during an Arena.
Byte-balls
Arena “trophies” awarded to the winners, usually containing vouchers or Sol prizes. Byte-balls for special events (for example Remembrance Festival) are often specially designed, and can trade for $uns to collectors. Sometimes purchased by one user when gifting another.
Blazer
A player who hides until the end of a Bounty Hunter or Survivor event, and targets the players with the most kills on the leader board towards the end (to win on countback).
Countback scoring
After a player is black-screened in some Bounty Hunter formats, his or her kill tally is added to his killer’s total, giving the killer an instant boost in the rankings.
Respawn
Points at the centre of an Arena that players are returned to if they touch the Arena wall.
Arena wall
While some Arenas are of a fixed size, others have contracting walls with the sole purpose of forcing players towards the centre, increasing conflict. Players who touch the wall are immediately ported to one of six Respawn points randomly set around the Arena centre. In Team Arenas, if one player touches the wall, the entire team is ported to the same Respawn point.
Dastard
A player that waits at an Arena respawn point to gain easy kills from players re-entering play
Toucher
The dedicated healer in Team Arena (must physically touch a team mate to heal them)
Qualies
“Qualifiers” - early rounds of bigger competitions, which provide players with cheap or free opportunities to compete in more expensive or exclusive Arenas.
Corporations
Sol-Corp
Premier corporation that runs Sol itself and issues licences to other corporations, as well as charging all users for services, such as porting and purchasing.
3arth R3al 3state
Retailers of Sol property.
Haptical Illusions, Active Haptics and FibreHaptics

NARaS (North American Rescue and Salvage)
