“Brody, we’ve talked about it. I have to move to Austin.”
“No, you don’t. You have a perfectly good business opportunity here, and you admitted that you would rather work for yourself than someone else. You don’t have to do anything if you don’t want to, though. We can support you just fine, baby.”
“I know you can, but I want to work. Besides, I have to in order to pay for my home.” Caitlyn realized that she wasn’t going to move to Austin after all. She had fallen in love with Riverbend and the people there. Everyone looked out for each other and were friendly. She took a deep breath and faced the two men.
“I’ve about decided to live here, Brody, but I can’t live with you and Lamar. It would screw up our relationship and hurt yours with my brother and his family.”
“How can it possibly hurt our relationship with your family?” Brody shook his head.
“Brian will always interfere with my life. You guys aren’t going to handle that well.”
“Things are different in Riverbend when it comes to families. Once you are our responsibility, Brian will back off.”
Brody stared up at the ceiling as if it could provide the answers he needed.
She looked back at Brody and Lamar. She opened her mouth to explain, but nothing would come out. Caitlyn tried to come up with another reason she couldn’t live with them and nothing would come to her. Even her old standbys of they’d find someone else they wanted more and they’d eventually get tired of her constant arguments weren’t doing the trick. She wasn’t working them out of her system either.
“Caitlyn, how do you know it won’t work if you won’t even give us a chance? We’ve been living together for nearly three weeks and done great. That alone should show you how well we fit together.”
“I’m scared, Brody. What do I do if down the line one of you doesn’t want me anymore? How am I supposed to deal with that?”
“It isn’t going to happen, Caitydid. Nothing could ever come between the three of us.” Brody seemed to want to say something more but held back.
Lamar poked him then stepped closer to her. “Caitlyn, I love you. I’ve loved you almost from the moment I laid eyes on you in that ditch. I can’t stand the idea of your not living with us.”
“Oh, Lamar. Are you sure it’s me you love?”
“Yes, Caity. It’s you. Only you.”
She turned and looked up at Brody. The other man had a strained expression on his face and bunched muscles in his neck and shoulders.
“It’s okay, Brody. You can tell me later whatever is on your mind. All of this is more than I can handle. I need to go to bed.”
She started to get ready for bed and almost told them to leave her alone. She didn’t want company, but it was their bedroom, and the truth was, she knew she couldn’t sleep without them in bed with her.
Instead, she stripped down to her panties and climbed into bed without saying anything. They stripped as well and got in bed on either side of her. Neither man touched her as they lay there, each in their own thoughts.
Caitlyn wanted to tell them how she felt, tell them that she loved them more than life itself. She was afraid to. Frustration brought tears to her eyes once again. Did she really have to live somewhere else? Why couldn’t she live with them?
Brody touched her first. He laid his big hand across her belly and scooted closer to her. She felt the first tear slide from her eyes. Then Lamar moved closer and wrapped his leg over hers, laying his hand just under her breast.
Lamar had said that he loved her and she believed him. She felt like Brody loved her as well, but he hadn’t said the words. But then neither had she. How could she be sure of his feelings for her if he didn’t say the words? They clashed against each other all the time. Without love, he would get tired of that—tired of her.
Everything kept circling in her head. Should she take a chance and live with them or play it safe and get her own place? Once they had been around her for a long time they might change their minds. If only Brody truly loved her.
“Caity?” Brody’s deep voice pulled her from her thoughts.
“Yeah?”
“I love you, baby. I don’t want you to go.”
“We both love you more than anything in the world, Caity.” Lamar spoke up from the other side of her.
“Give us a chance to show you how much we love you.”
“I don’t have to live with you for you to show me, Lamar.”
“Move in with us, baby. Let us help take care of you. We’ll give you anything you want that we can get.”
“Oh, Brody. I already have what I want more than anything.”
Lamar stiffened next to her. “What is that, Caity?”
“The two of you. I love you both so much it hurts to think of losing you.”
The two men whooped out hell, yes and squeezed her within an inch of her life. She hugged them back and reveled in their kisses. She was making the right decision. She knew it in her heart.
“I’ll move in with you under one condition.”
“Anything.” They spoke at the same time.
“I handle the books for your business from now on. I really don’t want to have to straighten them out every year before tax season,” she teased.
“Honey, you can handle anything you want if it means having you at home with us from now on.” Brody kissed her and whispered in her ear some of the dirty things he wanted to do to her.
Caitlyn giggled and turned to Lamar for help. He shook his head and began nibbling along her jaw. Each of them began exploring her body with their hands making it nearly impossible to think.
She’d promised that when things settled down after the mafia incident she was going to count her blessings, and she finally had. Two of the biggest ones were lying on either side of her, and she’d almost walked away from them. Caitlyn said a prayer of thanks and then snuggled down between her two men as they pleasured her body. Her brother and his new family would be coming home in the morning and she was going to be living with the best things that had ever happened to her. She didn’t think she could count any higher than that.
