The Well-Hung Gun Page 6

by Cari Silverwood

“Ohhh,” they all sighed. “That. Poor man.”

“There you go then.” The spokesman turned to the crowd. “A terribly sad but necessary death. Three seconds silence, please. In memoriam of cannon fodder.”

Unsure what the hell was happening, Virginia bowed her head for the three seconds.

The spokesman then faced her and John again, grinning. “Done!” He clapped his hands together and waited, shifting from foot to foot. “Can we have them now?”

John swallowed. The prospect of growing cocks seemed to be bothering him.

She nudged him. “You’ll be fine.”

“Of course.” He straightened. “It requires a special medicine. It will take some months, but I will guarantee the results.”

“Excellent. We all good with John’s promise?”

The roar made the windows of the town shake.

  Jeez. Men!

Then Abby arrived, strolling through the crowd, hips swaying, as if parting the red sea. Her smile was back and John gathered her into his side and kissed the top of her head.

“My love. At last we are together.”

“Yes, we are, John.” She turned up her face and he cradled her chin. Her stray blonde locks, that had escaped from her bun, curled over his fingers.

“You are more beautiful than I remembered.”

Watching them kiss seemed an invasion of privacy, but Virginia grinned and watched anyway, along with half the town.

Perhaps he had truly found his perfect partner. She seemed a little innocent. Then she peeked out from within his hug, with one eye. “Psst. Were you his last girl?”

Was she? Virginia guessed so. “Yes.”

“Want to join in the fun later? You know, in the lake.”

  What? She clicked. “Ahhh. No.”

“Hmm. Pity.” Abby snuggled back into him.

She blinked. What the hell had that been? Definitely, Abby was a good match for this man, this beast man.

Everything was humming along. People were happy, chatting, and totally over the slaughtering each other idea. The wedding would be a cinch – the tableware was already organized.

  It was time to leave.

“How is Karl?” Virginia said, in an aside to Dangerous Bob.

*Still moaning and clutching his head. All done here?*

“Yes.” She took one last look at the happy couple and whispered to them, “Goodbye and good luck.” Then she sank back into the line of the Sea Wolves.

The skateboard would do. Portals gave her nausea, bad. She took the skateboard from Bob. “Meet you back home.” Then she stepped on and gave the command.

  “Home.”

The world fuzzed into that electric blue and the wind whirled. They were off.

  “Rome?” bleeped the skateboard.

  Now, it talked?

  Rome? Ohhh fuck.

  About Cari Silverwood

Cari Silverwood is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling writer of kinky darkness or sometimes of dark kinkiness, depending on her moods and the amount of time she's spent staring into the night. She has an ornery nature as well as a lethal curiosity that makes her want to upend plots and see what falls out when you shake them.

When others are writing bad men doing bad things, you may find her writing good men who accidentally on purpose fall into the abyss and come out with their morals twisted in knots.

This might be because she comes from the land down under, Australia, or it could be her excessive consumption of wine.

Freaking out readers is her first love and her second love is freaking out the people living in her books. Her favorite hobby is convincing people she has a basement...though she really doesn’t. Promise. If it existed it would be a terrifying place where you would find all the dangerous things that you never knew you craved.

To escape you’d need to get the key you can see through the grate in your cell door. A key that’s hanging from the ceiling by string. The light above is flickering on...off...and you can hear feet dragging along the corridor floor. Your door is locked.

Anyone know how to get blood stains out of concrete?
