  Introduction

Following World War Two our countries wealthiest citizens began seeking and obtaining appointments to cabinet policy making positions, the Council on Foreign Affairs, and took control of the Federal Reserve Board. They followed those actions by using their great wealth to actively recruit and support congressional and presidential candidates willing to adopt policies directed towards protecting and increasing the assets of the worlds richest at the expense of the American working class.

Under their leadership campaign laws were adopted that prevent the common citizen from pooling their resources into one united voice, yet place no restrictions on the amount a billionaire, American or foreign, can spend to get their candidates nominated and elected. Monopoly laws were changed to permit corporate entities to control press, radio, and the television media. Their uncontrolled biased views now determine who will be the candidates from each political party and who will be elected.

I would argue that during this period other actions were taken by the leaders of both political parties more dangerous to the future of a free people than the social and economic policies that followed. Events such as Ruby Ridge, Idaho, Waco Texas, Columbine, and Nine Eleven were used to create the public misconception that more laws and agencies to enforce them were necessary for the public good. An apathetic people watched as federal agencies were created and unconstitutional laws established by the courts became a reality.

Among these actions was the formation of the homeland security agency given broad powers unrestrained by constitutional protections, reminiscent of the powers Hitler gave his homeland security department. The adoption of the patriot bills that permit invasions of privacy and arrest and detention without a showing of probable cause and without the filing of charges. Laws prohibiting entrapment were abolished leading to all manners of sting operations where no actual victim exists. At the local level random road checks were used to stop, detain, and search citizens without a showing of probable cause or due process of warrant. Citizens could be arrested and charged for failing to furnish their names, addresses, and proof of identity when enforcement agents demanded they do so.

American workers were betrayed by the adoption of the North American Free Trade Agreement and the World Trade Agreement that led to the exodus of five million jobs. During that period the granting of amnesty to twenty million criminal immigrants encouraged tens of millions of additional immigrants to illegally enter America across the southern border bankrupting our social services and educational systems and changed the character of America.

The number of Unemployed American workers rose as employers turned to illegal immigrants for cheap labor replacing American workers unwilling to work at part time minimum wage jobs. Housing for American citizens was nonexistent due to the higher income landlords could make renting to groups of immigrants rather than single families. Emergency medical services were closed at many hospitals due to the high cost of treating uninsured illegal immigrants. America was fast being reduced to third world status with millions existing in the alleys and shadows of society.

Bankruptcy laws were changed to eliminate a debtors safety net and the return to debtor prisons became popular. Corrupt Washington politicians refused to act in the interest of America, unwilling to risk losing the financial support of their corporate bosses who were profiting from outsourcing and cheap illegal labor here at home. Instead government used unconstitutional laws and enforcement policies to control the growing unrest.

As the number of illegal immigrants grew landholders in southern border states banded together to protect their families and property from the hordes of invading criminal immigrants, only to have Washington declare these landowners criminals without legal rights of home defense. Confrontations between the immigrants and unemployed citizens turned violent and spread nationwide.

Former military veterans were organizing into military style units and driving the immigrants out of their towns and cities back across the border. Industries that employed illegal immigrants were sabotaged and their products destroyed. Mexican factories were closing because goods produced there could not be safely transported across the border. The Mexican government was calling for the United Nations to intervene and protect their citizens living in America.

Before their fall past empires reached the point where appointed jurists established law, volunteer armies enforced the law, while corrupt politicians filled their coffers with unjust taxes. I unashamedly believe America could reach that point in our history.

I contend it is in such social, economic, and political conditions that despotism flourishes and betrayals become commonplace. History teaches well paid volunteer forces become loyal to their paymasters and forget national loyalties. History also records it takes only one determined individual to stir the thirst for liberty in an enslaved nation.

My book is a fictional story of such a person during such a time.

  The Final Betrayal

It was February, the November presidential election had come and gone and still no winner had been declared. Election results were being disputed in many states where illegal immigrants needed only show a country of origin identification card to vote and support the incumbent.

The predictable racial unrest and civil strife was quickly used as a pretext by her honor, the president, to declare a state of national emergency and a declaration of martial law. Federal cabinet members, judges, and governors not supportive of military rule were replaced with presidential appointees. The congress was dismissed and replaced by a presidential parliament.
State legislatures and courts were disbanded and military courts were being formed to replace them. All election processes were abolished.

Members of the council on foreign affairs and the trilateral commission were calling for the United Nations to act to protect the assets of the world’s wealthiest corporations. Members of these organizations were calling for the parliament to adopt a resolution requesting United Nations intervention. The Presidents husband, the former president of the United States, now Secretary General of the United Nations, called a meeting of the Security Council. The Security Council then issued a resolution calling for united nations civilian administrators and military advisors to go to America to observe conditions and make recommendations to the council. Other forces would be deployed to Canada and made available to Washington if requested, or as the resolution read, if conditions warrant intervention.

All state National Guard units were activated and placed under the direct control of the director of homeland security. Clashes between citizens and the guard forces prompted the federal director of homeland security to issue public warnings that any person who interfered with

National Guard forces would be classified as terrorists, detained in federal camps, and tried by military courts and be subject to the death penalty. He urged citizens to report those they suspect of possessing firearms.

The homeland security director imposed a nationwide curfew and travel restrictions on all citizens. The director also announced that as soon as equipment became available all citizens would be ordered to report to officials in their areas to have a Biological Encoding And System Tracking (BEAST) global positioning computer chip implanted to facilitate government controls. The director issued a public announcement that once the beast is available no citizen will be able to work, receive government benefits, make any purchase, or own property without the chip being installed. All religious institutions were ordered disbanded and attendance at any religious service was a federal offense punishable by death or imprisonment.

The director of homeland security ordered the states to furnish a listing of all purchasers of hunting licenses during the past thirty years. The states were also required to provide a record of all prior legal firearm purchases during that period. The national rifle association was ordered to furnish the government a listing of all current and past members then disband. All citizens were ordered to turn in their firearms and citizen ownership of any firearm, of any type, became a federal offense. Liberty for all America hung in the balance.

  A Patriot Rises

Citizen’s militias were being hastily organized across the nation and were calling for the people to resist. But fear of government reprisals deterred many from defending their liberties. In the small rural village of Vienna Ohio an old veteran called Goldie sat talking with his family. He told his sons James, Jeffrey, and Joshua their mother and he had already discussed the recent events. He said your mother knows what I must do and she understands the hardship that will bring but as she said, I am who I am and I must do what my heart tells me is right. I cannot at this time ask you to join me for the things I do now I must do alone. He told his sons the day is fast approaching when you will have to decide whether to submit to enslavement or fight for liberty. I cannot choose your path for you he said, I can only tell you I made my choice many years ago at a camp in Germany called Dauchau. I chose liberty.

I want you to stay at home with your families and care for your mother. While I am away James you and Joshua meet with those in Adams and highland county who you know can be trusted. Jeffrey you meet with Tim and he will help you get the word to our friends in Clinton County. Advise them the time has come to mobilize and prepare to defend liberty. Tell them we will have the equipment and supplies necessary to act.

James asked where will we get the guns, equipment, and supplies we will need? Goldie told them, I have for quiet some time been working with my friend Richard organizing the Ohio militia. Richard is a retired central intelligence operative and is working with state leaders all across the country trying to organize them into a national force. He has friends who have held high positions in the intelligence services, and many others who are retired senior military personnel. They have contacts who can secure and furnish us all we need.

The one thing they need is one patriot to lead the way. Someone to show others we can fight and defeat the military. Because of some prior experiences in overt and covert activities I have been chosen to add that spark. I must leave now for I have work to do. I will be in contact with you. He held his wife close for a moment then said he would return in a few days. The old man stopped for a moment and looked back to wave to his family. Then he entered his vehicle and drove off down the highway.

The boys’ mother said to their children, your father is determined; nothing will sway him from the path he has chosen. We must be prepared to support him when the time comes. Come let us have supper then you must follow his instructions. Goldie proceeded north towards Springfield where Richard, the leader of the Ohio militia, had advised him the guard and united nations commanders were moving into the old guard base. Once there he drove past the site then onto an adjacent road to better observe conditions at a distance. He watched as a steady stream of vehicles entered the installation. Near dusk traffic into the base seemed to have ended and the gates at the entrance were closed. He thought to himself, the fools, do they believe a gate and sentries guarding an unfenced site will protect them. He drove away to plan and prepare for his return.

The following day the state controlled major networks reported criminals are operating across the land attacking federal agents and their military advisors. It has been reported some United Nations personnel have been attacked as well. The director of homeland security reports it is the work of terrorists and they will be caught and punished. The media reported that near Springfield Ohio a United Nations observer accompanied by a military advisor and federal agents were ambushed in their vehicle just outside their headquarters at the old air guard base. All were said to have died in the attack and explosion that followed. Later that day a senior United Nations observer and several military aids accompanying him were said to have lost their lives when a bomb exploded in the headquarters building at that same base.

Goldie drove past what used to be the old reserve air base just outside Columbus, Ohio. The base appeared occupied by Ohio army guard personnel and U.N. military observers. Later that night he returned and pulled down the old gravel road that ran behind the post toward a small town nearby. He wondered if things at Springfield had caused them to be watchful here. After several hours of observation he noted vehicle traffic had stopped entering the base. Several civilians and military personnel had entered one building in particular. He noted there were guards at the gate but observed no perimeter sentries. Much of the old fencing had long ago fallen and was easily crossed over. Moments later he moved swiftly back towards the site where his vehicle was hidden. Behind him he saw the night light up then heard the explosion. He could see flames shooting into the air and thought, they are so sure of themselves.

Driving thru Xenia the old man noted the old armory building sure seemed to be a busy place. He stopped down the street and watched for a while. He noted several army jeep vehicles coming and going and appeared to be dropping off passengers. Guards were stationed at the doors, must be a meeting of wheels of some sort he surmised. He drove further down the street then turned off onto a side street. He got out of his car and crept closer to the rear of the building. He stayed behind the trees for a moment getting what he needed ready, then he moved silently closer. He lit the fuse and threw the softball size piece of C-4 plastic explosive into the building then moved towards his vehicle. The explosion shook his car and flames and debris erupted as he pulled onto the street. He proceeded towards Dayton then turned south towards Cincinnati. Later he pulled into a rest area and called his friend Richard. Richard answered the phone and said Goldie, where are you, ok he said I’ll be there in thirty minut
es.

He sat back and listened to the state controlled radio news broadcast while waiting for Richard to arrive. The state spokesperson was saying that a gang of terrorists is operating in the southern part of Ohio killing government officials. Several government officials and dozens of National Guard soldiers and innocent people have been murdered in terrorists’ attacks at Columbus and Xenia. Citizens are asked to report any information about the terrorists to law enforcement officials. He warned that those responsible will be caught and tried as terrorists and anyone who helps them will be considered traitors and tried in military courts. The spokesperson said the government would reward loyal citizens who help end this reign of terror. Goldie thought to himself, those who would enslave free people will find we will not all walk like sheep to the slaughter.

He watched as Richard pulled into the rest area and drove on past his vehicle then stopped, turned and pulled alongside. He got into Richards vehicle and they drove to a nearby exit and entered a restaurant. While eating Richard said you got it done friend, it’s all over the news. Now others will know we can take them on and will follow your example. He asked is there anything you need, we have cash, grenades, C4 explosive and plenty of ammunition. Goldie told him he could use some expense money and some of all the supplies you have. Richard advised him; the guards at the Springfield base managed to get a description of your car and described the driver as an elderly man. They may well find out who you are so be careful, they could be looking for you. Goldie said I expected that would happen sooner or later. I took the car from an auto sales lot so it can’t be traced to me. I will return home to see my family then find a place to set up camp. I plan to start organizing our people after I take care of a few things. Richard said we have no choice if we are to remain free.
