  Viet Cong (VC): The Communist-led insurgents operating in South Vietnam during the war. The political wing was known as the National Liberation Front. Many South Vietnamese when speaking English use the term VC to denote any Vietnamese Communist.

  Viet Minh: Communist-dominated resistance and political organization established by Ho Chi Minh during World War II.

  Work Credit: The two hours community service that refugees must perform daily in the Philippine Refugee Processing Center.

  world, the: GI jargon for the United States.

  Young Adult Services Unit (YASU): Offers counseling service to minors in the Philippine Refugee Processing Center.

  xic lo: A pedicab, a bicycle rickshaw. The xic lo functions as a taxi cab and is a popular means of public transportation in Vietnam.
