According to Ms. Salver, Ella will be visiting the hospital where Betty is, and one of the nurses invites her to dinner. The nurse and her husband seem to have some lessons of their own to teach Ella. When Betty leaves the hospital and goes to the nursing home, she encourages Ella to spend time with some of the wealthier old men. Both tragedy and wealth await Ella, and she must learn to handle both.
