“Where are you taking me? Where am I?” My voice is shrill. The strange man pulls back from me. However, instead of striking out at me, which is my first fear, he simply picks me up and throws me over his shoulder. One hand reaches up and catches a metallic device. It is around my neck before I realize and a shock of electricity courses through me.
It shuts me up pretty quickly.
Chapter Three – Horgeer
I stride through the dank passage hoping that I won’t be forced to use the shocker again on my new prize. It was always better when the woman was compliant on her own accord rather than having to use the device.
As I march, the strong aroma of mold and piss fills my nostrils. Yet, I am so used to the smell that I no longer wrinkle my nose in passing.
The woman over my shoulder was light, Earthlings always are.
I barely notice her pummeling my shoulder and ignore her screams as she sobs to be released. It was always the same when they were brought here from Earth. I wish there was a treaty in place with that world. At least then they wouldn’t have to explain to the new slaves that they had no choice in what was happening to them, that they were doing this in order to keep an ancient race alive. However, the Earthly leaders had never agreed to what they called “slavery.”
As a result of this, they had to continue to abduct women from there. Which was a shame because they really were the best breeders in the galaxy, considering their size.
Changing the woman’s position, I wrap one arm securely around her as I reach out for the door. The microchip in my hand means that the door swings open as soon as I come in contact with it. As soon as this is actioned, I reach up and sling the woman back down off my shoulder. Pushing her roughly into the room, I reach for the door once more and it closes tightly.

“I hear you have a new breeder,” Ece said as I throw back my drink. The liquid burns the back of my throat as I wait for the warmth to spread.
“I do,” I reply while nodding at the bartender for another drink. “Thanks to the lottery, I scored a human from Earth.”
Ece nodded, obviously impressed with the news. “When do you get to roll with her?”
“Tomorrow.”
“Well, let me know how it goes. My breeder is nearly out of her contract and I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on some more sweet human flesh.”
Ece was a warrior, just like me, so we had to rely on the lottery in order to receive a breeder. Had we been higher up the chain of command, we would have the funds to purchase a woman from Earth without having to risk the lottery. So, the chances of us both getting lucky with the best-known breeders in the universe were slim, especially considering Ece had already had his chance with a human.
Not that I feel very lucky. While humans were better at producing offspring, they were strange looking creatures. Although, if I am being honest, from what I have seen of my new possession, this human was less strange than some of the others I’d had seen.
Her features were more angled than other women of her kind. High cheekbones and large eyes made her look more akin to Gokeols, an intergalactic race that was the universal beauty standard. Although, that still didn’t make her look anything like my own race, the Ocheks.
I sigh into my drink when it is presented in front of me. I couldn’t remember the last time I had seen a female Ochek in the flesh. Even my own mother had been dead before I could remember her properly.
So, a human is what I had to settle for.

SNEAK PEEK of My Cocky Farmer
Chapter One - Lena
Lena Dodge had been dodging things all her life. She missed out on a decent family life by being born to a mother who didn’t love her but a multitude of men instead. Then, at school, she had avoided the chance of ever making friends after a boy thought it was funny to point out to everyone that she had been walking around with a booger exposed on her first day at school.
Now, she was dodging a PR disaster. As a successful corporate manager for Cocky Enterprises, she thought her life had finally evaded bad luck. And, she had for a while. Lena climbed that corporate ladder in record time thanks to her work ethic and short skirts. She hadn’t needed to sleep her way to the top, no, she was too smart for that. But, a little bit of skirt and a lot of leg helped grease her way.
It had been so easy to bluff men like that. They always thought with the wrong head and she was adept at working the system for her own gain. Her colleagues had called her cocky. But, that wasn’t the word she liked to use. Well, actually it was. However, she would never admit to that in public.
The plan had been simple. She would rise to the top and show the world just how amazing she was. Lena would show her mother and the kids at school—especially that little shit that started it all, Mack McCoy—just how amazing she really was.
But then, that thing had happened. At the start, it crept in slowly to ruin her life. Although, to her, it felt like a tidal that washed over her to engulf her life and livelihood. Over the course of a week, her life had bobbed like a boat out to sea that had hit an iceberg and was rapidly sinking. At times, she sunk to the bottom and had to swim like mad to make it back to the surface.
As Lena stepped off the bus, the heat and dust assaulted her. She ran a hand through her dark locks as she scanned the landscape. All she could see was a sea of washed out colour and dry grass. It ran in front of her like a never-ending reminder that no matter how far she ran to, the sea would still engulf her.
She sighed and wiped her brow as the bus closed its doors behind her and made a dusty getaway. Lena coughed on the smoke, picked up her bag, and walked down the long driveway of the Cocky Rooster’s Ranch.
She had first seen the job application online when the name caught her eye. Lena had been hiding in her office after that photo of her surfaced. The one she thought would forever remain hidden, the photo from earlier days when she had been wild and petulant. Searching for an escape route, she was looking for a new start. She wanted to go somewhere, anywhere. But, most importantly, she wanted to go somewhere no one would know her.
It seemed ideal, a farm hand position on a chicken farm. The area was so remote, she hadn’t even heard of it. It took two hours on this bus alone to get here. Prior to that, she had caught two trains. It was so far away from the city it felt like a completely new world. And, it was really, since Lena had never even been to a farm before. She was as virgin as they came to how things went when it came to farming.
The massive change in her life scared her. But, more importantly, it also excited her. Even though she had the misery of the previous week that had led to her resignation, here she was, stepping out onto a brand new horizon. She had no idea what to expect and that was fine with her.
The heat was searing. It made her sweat uncontrollably. Yet, at the same time, it parched her until she was as bone dry as the straw fields on either side of her.
As she walked, she thought back to The Incident. Every time she closed her eyes, she came back to it. It had been a recurring constant in her life for what seemed like forever. But, it had only been two weeks since it all started to spiral out of control. She didn’t know who had found the picture, probably one of her colleagues as they surfed for free porn on the internet. It had to be one of them; otherwise, no one would have recognised her.
The first whiff of trouble came as she exited a meeting. There had been a snigger as one of the junior staffers had passed her. She didn’t realise it was directed at her at that point, as naïve as she was then. However, through the course of the day, she came to understand that every snigger, every glance, and every pointing finger was for her alone.
By lunchtime, she was glad to be free of the office. Donning her jogging gear, she ran her usual laps around the Botanical Gardens and
felt the anxiety bleed out of her. When she returned to the office, however, that anxiety returned, smacking her in the face with the very image she had never wanted to surface.
Lena ran now, as she tried to release the image from her mind’s eye. The one in which she was sandwiched between two women. The one in which it was very obvious how cocky she was because he held one in each hand as her head rolled back in ecstasy.
They had been drunk, and young, and so ridiculously stupid when the photo was taken. However, that meant nothing to those who had already seen it.
“Hello?”
Lena pulled up short, her breath ragged as she leaned forward, her hands resting on her knees while she attempted to catch her breath. She could feel the heat of a red flush rising and hoped this man only thought it was the heat and the fact she had just been running.
Eventually, her breathing slowed and she raised her eyes to get a good look at the person in front of her.
Yes, he was a gorgeous as she had first suspected.
Chapter Two - Rooster
Rooster gazed at the woman in front of him. Her dark hair flipped in the gentle breeze and he wanted to reach out and tuck it behind her ears. Instead, he straightened himself up, standing tall and proud like the cocky bastard he was. Or, so he liked to make people believe. Instead, most of the time he just felt like your average Joe, nothing special.
“Are you lost?” he finally asked. The woman looked up at him, stood a little taller, and planted her hands firmly on her hips. Her cheeks were flushed with the exertion of running up the driveway in the blistering heat. Rivulets of sweat glistened on her skin as if she was some kind of womanly lake, like the dam out behind the chicken shed that he liked to gaze upon each evening when his work was done and the sun was setting.
“Is this the Cocky Rooster’s Ranch?”
Rooster nodded. “It sure is, but why are you asking?” He kicked the dusty drive with the toe of his boot.
“I applied for the job you were offering,” she replied, thrusting out a hand. “My name is Lena.”
Rooster reached forward, almost hesitant to touch her hand. “Lena, I remember now. Welcome.” He shook her hand quickly before retreating, grabbing her suitcase instead. She had been dragging it behind her while she ran, so now it was coated in dust.
“I can take that,” Lena insisted but Rooster refused.
“What experience have you had on farms?” he asked, trying to distract her from the suitcase.
“None,” she replied as she bounced along beside him. She was exuberant, but, after a few days of hard work on the farm, he’d knock her down a peg or two. She would be begging him for a break. “I am a quick learner, though.”
“Have you done any sort of physical work?” Rooster took a long look at her. Her denim shorts and black tank top showed off a thin physique. She was toned but it looked more like gym toning rather than that of hard labour.
“I run,” she replied. “Therefore, I have great stamina.”
She pronounced that last word as if it was important; as if she wanted him to know that endurance was important to her. He raised an eyebrow at her, liking her already.
“Cocky, aren’t you?”
She laughed, her hand reaching out and clasping his arm. “You’re so funny!”
The traversed the remainder of the road in silence. Rooster looked at her as she took in the landscape. She seemed excited, amazed at everything around her. Lena reminded him of the new chicks just hatched in the brooder shed. They burst out of their shells, and didn’t stop to really take it all in. From the moment they were free of their eggs, the little chicks would rush around, jousting with each other, fossicking for food, chirping incessantly until they were old enough to understand restraint.
“Rooster!”
Lena was in front of him and he saw her head whip around at the sound of Randy’s voice.
“Randy, this is Lena.”
Randy reached out and shook Lena’s hand. She was as exuberant with Randy as she had been with him. “Well, aren’t you precious.”
Randy shot Rooster a quizzical look over the top of her head. He mouthed the word “precious” before turning towards her once more. “I’ve been called a lot of things, but never precious.”
Rooster reached out and clasped Randy’s hand. He was Rooster’s right-hand man. In fact, he was his left-hand man, and any other man he wanted him to be.
“Lena is our new farm hand.”
Randy laughed. “Really?” He stepped back and observed the woman in more detail. “This tiny little scrap is our new helper? I don’t think so!”
“And why not?” Lena stood tall, her hands balling into fists at her side.
“Look at you,” he replied. “With those spaghetti arms, what are you going to do around here? This is not a rural retreat, or a day spa, princess. We work hard here. And, it’s relentless.”
“Relax, Randy,” Rooster intervened. “Give her a day or two and she’ll work it out for herself anyway.” Randy gazed skyward. A pink blush was taking over from the roaring heat of the afternoon. “Let’s get her settled in for the night and get to know her a little better before we make our final judgments.”
The trio had reached the homestead. Randy and Rooster watched as Lena ran up the stairs. Rooster had the strange sensation that Lena was blowing in like a storm and that their lives would never be the same again.
