“We both know that, that isn’t true. You’ve been hard to find after changing the way you look a couple of times, but I finally found you.”
“Who are you? Wh-what . . . what do you want? If it’s money you need, I can give you double or . . . or . . . or triple. Name your price, and you got it. I can call my son. . . .”
I raised an eyebrow. “Your son who’s already dead?”
Her face dropped. “I meant to say my husband. Richard Black. Legally, we’re still married, and I know he’d be willing to give me whatever amount you want. Just tell me a price.”
I removed my gun from my bag that was next to the bed and screwed the silencer on. Her pleading became a bit more garbled as she started to talk and cry at the same time. I lifted my gun, aimed it right at her head, and then pressed it to her temple.
“Fucking you was never supposed to be a part of the plan, but I couldn’t resist, with this new look of yours. It’s no wonder Richard was cheating on you behind your back for all these years with those little waitresses down at Decadence. The pussy wasn’t that great, and you don’t know how to fuck.”
Before she could say anything else, I pulled the trigger and shot her in the head. After making sure every trace of my having been here was gone, I walked out of the room. Then I pulled out my cell phone, dialed a number, and waited for an answer.
“Hello.”
“It’s done.”
“Your money will be transferred to your account by the morning.”
“No need. This one is on me.”
The line became quiet. Then he said, “Thank you, Kazimir.”
I nodded as if he could see my face.
“Will you be back in town for the baby shower?” he asked.
“I might be. If I can’t make it, tell my nephew that I will see him when he brings the family to Russia for summer vacation.”
“Will do.”
I started to hang up the phone, but then I remembered I needed to relay a message. “Carmen will be back in a couple of days. She wanted me to tell you to have the coconut oil ready.”
His rich laughter echoed through the phone.
“Should I even ask?” I said.
“Not unless you want to hear some things about your goddaughter that—”
“Enough,” I said, cutting him off. “I’ll see you soon.”
“Will do. And, Kazimir . . .”
“I already know. I love my nephew and will do anything to make sure that my sister’s son is happy too. I gotta go, though. Take care, Richard, and as always, nice doing business with you.”
After hanging up the phone, I made my way to the car that I was driving and hopped in. My next target was some kid named Maxwell, who went by the nickname Cowboy. Another thread in that web of deceit that Melonee and her friends had built. He was a little hard to find after he disappeared from the place where he’d been staying. And because his information kept changing, my tracker had been having a hard time pinpointing his exact location. However, there was always a way to find someone who didn’t want to be found: you just needed the right type of bait to catch them. Too bad for him, the kind of bait that I had cast out was already leading me in his direction.
All right, readers . . . I know this one took a minute, but I hope you enjoyed this little installment with Melonee and the crew. If not, I promise to do better with my next release. As always, I want to thank you for your continued support. You just don’t know how much I appreciate each and every one of you. Now, there are a lot of you I want to give a shout-out to. However, I don’t want to forget anyone’s name. So just

Thank you for your e-mails, Facebook messages and, in some cases, phone calls.
I appreciate and adore each and every one of you!
Up next for me . . . I have a couple of stand-alones in the works.
The Wright Kind of Love: Toby & Niecey, which is a spinoff of my Black Love, White Lies series, is now available on Kindle.
Love, Lies, and Consequences 2, with my guy Blake Karrington, is in the works and should be out at the end of April 2018 (Keep those fingers crossed.)
And a couple of new characters that I’m working on will be introduced to you guys later on in the year, as will the last book I’m doing for The DuPont Sisters series.
Bear with me. You all know I try to drop a book as soon as I can.
