  The White Flame, a small Imperial army and associated priestly order dedicated to the defense of the Palace. Commanded by Field Marshal and High Templar Rackmar. Psychotic.

  169 IR — Cob is drafted into the Crimson Army.

  166 IR — Cob converts to the Imperial Light. Liska, Cob's mother, hangs herself. Vedaceirra takes on the role of Darilan Trevere.

  162 IR — Cob's father Dernyel is killed. He and his mother are enslaved.

  160 IR — Kerrindryr becomes part of the Empire. Vesha is enslaved.

  159 IR — Sarovy is exiled to the Crimson Army after botched conversion.

  -1783 IR — The Gods' Pact ends the Godswars.

  Glossary:

  Abomination, a biologically manipulated servant of the Empire. Also called a specialist.

  Aenkelagi, also called bodythief, a body-stealing specialist. 'Skin-thief'.

  Ahergriin, an amalgam of parts left over from conversion. 'Boar-eater'.

  Airahene, a 'grey' wraith of the Mist Forest.

  Akarriden blade, a necromantic weapon forged by the haelhene of Akarridi.

  Array, a (semi-)permanent arcane power structure that can support multiple active spells.

  Beastfolk, former skinchangers trapped in hybrid form by the death of their parent spirits.

  Caiohene, the blanket term for wraiths in their own language, caioleth.

  Call, a chemical and pheromonal language used between specialists.

  Channel, a pathway used to move magic, or the process of using these pathways.

  Dalurvykhe, 'body-magic'. Biomedical arts used by some necromancers.

  Eiyenbridge, a crossing between the Shadow and physical realms, made by eiyets.

  Eiyensuriel, a dead strong-blooded Shadow descendant, serving Kherus Morgwi in the afterlife.

  Eiyet, a small creature made of living shadow. Said to be a child that died before it was named.

  Eiyetakri, or 'eiyet-gift'. A small shiny object made of junk material, used to gain favor with eiyets.

  Gestalt, a mind or spirit connection that allows a group to share strength.

  Goblin, a member of a spindly subterranean race found in the north.

  Haelhene, a 'white' wraith of Ylwenna, the White Isle. Imperial allies.

  Kai, a Shadow Folk enclave in the physical world.

  Lagalaina, a female control-type specialist. 'Intoxicating woman'.

  Metastatic, a magic that stores power in and controls cancerous tumors.

  Muriae, the silver elementals of the Thundercloak Range in Kerrindryr.

  Ogre, a member of the tall, tusked race that once dominated the north.

  Primordial, an elemental super-entity and 'parent' to its kind. Fire, Gold, Silver, etc.

  Rovagi, a mantis-like combat/surveillance specialist. 'Reaper'.

  Ruengriin, a pain-insensitive combat-type specialist. 'Person-eater'.

  Sarisigi en-dalur, a doppelganger-type specialist. 'Mirror of body'.

  Senvraka, a male control-type specialist. 'Best man'.

  Skinchanger, a shapeshifting individual bound to its race's parent spirit.

  Thiolgriin, a so-called 'hound', often controlled by ruengriin. 'Wolf-eater'.

  Umbral Wall, the barrier between the Shadow and physical realms.
