Off in the distance, much like Valaira, another set of eyes was watching the group. This pair, however, had no ill intentions. Ones that did not waiver, even when a set of very heavy footsteps approached.

Samsun found his way onto a nearby rock, far away from the companions, yet right next to Graham, “It’s quiet now…”

  Graham merely nodded.

“Silence spell?” he asked, and again Graham nodded. “Something like that takes several minutes and a much longer incantation. That’s why it’s almost useless in a fight. She cast it quite quickly,” Samsun was pointing out the obvious, trying again to entice Graham into conversation. He only nodded one last time, “She’s quite powerful, aye Graham?”

‘You have no idea Sam. Neither does she,” he said, finally breaking the silence. “She has more power than I think she’ll ever realize.”

Sam narrowed his eyes, he had him talking but he wondered if he could keep it that way. “Is that why you chose her? Is that why you’ve decided now, after all these years, to finally to make a stand?”

Yet, alas, Graham would not answer. He remained silent and let the question hang there. And for several minutes that was how it remained, until Samsun’s intent stare proved too much. “She’s part of it, however…it’s complicated.”

“It always is.” It was not the answer he wanted but more than the man usually heard, so he was satisfied, and allowed Graham the stillness he obviously sought.
