I dropped my robe and chuckled as her gaze immediately dropped. “I could say the same to you.”
We indulged in a few strawberries, and then she asked, “Those ways you said you had for me to repay you? How about we negotiate one of them for Wednesday night?”
I was ready to say yes when I suddenly remembered something. “Dammit.”
“What’s wrong?”
I scowled. “I’m going to have to take a rain check` on Wednesday. I’m going away for a few weeks. Big movie festival.”
“Oh.”
I could see the disappointment on her face. While I loved the fact that she didn’t want me to leave, it hurt to see her looking sad. What the hell. What was the point of being the boss if I didn’t get to do what I wanted?
“I could use some help with networking people, if you’re not too busy.”
Her head shot up, her eyes wide. “Are you kidding? When and where?”
I smiled at her response. I loved seeing her face light up like that. “Tuesday, actually, and you’d better brush up on your Japanese. We’re going to Tokyo.”
Krissy let out a squeal that I was certain she’d deny later and threw her arms around me. We fell backwards with her landing on top of me. I definitely wasn’t going to complain about that.
“Seriously?” she asked. “You’d better not be fucking with me right now.”
“Seriously,” I assured her. My smile widened. “Now that I think about it, you might look quite sexy in one of those geisha outfits.”
She glared at me and pushed my arms to my sides, holding them into place. Her eyes were dancing as she leaned down so our faces were only an inch apart. “You first.”
“I don’t have the figure for it,” I teased. “You, on the other hand, would be fucking sexy.”
“You think so?” she asked.
“Definitely,” I said with all sincerity. “But, then again, you look sexy in anything.” I gave a little pause before adding, “Or without anything.”
She laughed and then her mouth covered mine. I forgot about the strawberries, the trip, and everything else but the woman in my arms. For the first time in my life, I wasn’t caught up chasing perfection. I’d found her.
And she was mine.
