Aisling nodded as she rested her head against his chest. “Yeah.”
“What’s her name?” Braden asked, focusing on the pink bundle in his father’s arms.
“Lily,” Aisling replied.
Braden briefly pressed his eyes shut. “That’s a good name.”
“I thought so.” Aisling’s eyes filled with tears. “I guess we didn’t completely lose her after all, huh?”
“You never completely lost her,” Cormack said, tilting his head to the side when the sound of a loud voice in the hallway assailed his ears. “Jerry is here.”
Oh, wow, the famous Jerry! I could hardly wait. I turned to the door expectantly, widening my eyes when a flurry of movement barreled through the door.
His hair was dark, although not Grimlock dark, and his eyes bright. He wore a mint green suit that looked as if it should’ve been mothballed fifty years ago. His outfit was cheerful, but he didn’t look happy.
“I can’t believe you people cut me out of this! I’ll never forgive you.”
“The baby is here, Jerry,” Aidan noted. “Her name is Lily.”
“Of course her name is Lily.” Jerry stomped closer to Cormack to see the baby’s face, his expression gentling when he got his first look at his niece. “She’s spectacular.”
“She wasn’t so spectacular when she was ripping me apart on her way out,” Aisling argued.
“I want to hold her.” Jerry reached for the baby, but Cormack turned his shoulder to keep him from grabbing his granddaughter.
“I’m holding her right now.”
“I’m her favorite uncle.”
“And I’m her only grandfather. I’ve got dibs.”
“Please, people, you’re giving me a headache,” Aisling complained, sliding lower on the bed. “You’re all going to get a chance to hold her ... and babysit ... and change diapers. No one will be left out.”
“I don’t think you’ll have to convince us of that,” Braden said as he drifted closer to the baby. “We’ll gladly do all of it ... even the diapers.”
“Of course we will.” Cormack took me by surprise when he shifted the baby to Braden’s arms, something unsaid passing between him and his son. “She’s part of the clan. Once you’re part of the clan, there’s no shaking us.”
“No,” Braden agreed, slowly lifting his eyes to me. “I believe I was trying to tell someone something similar earlier today.”
“I think she’ll figure it out on her own,” Cormack offered helpfully.
“Who are we talking about?” Jerry asked, confused. “Are we talking about the baby? I missed something.”
“You did, but I’ll fill you in later,” Aisling said. “For now, I need a nap ... and some ice cream.”
“I’ll handle the ice cream.” Cormack smoothed his shirt. “It’s my job as spoiler-in-chief, after all.”
Aisling’s smile was sly. “And don’t you forget it.”

About the Author
I want to thank everyone who takes the time to read my novels. I have a particular brand of humor that isn’t for everyone – and I know that.
If you liked the book, please take a few minutes and leave a review. An independent author does it all on their own, and the reviews are helpful. I understand that my characters aren’t for everyone, though. There’s a lot of snark and sarcasm in my world – and I know some people don’t like that.
Special thanks go out to Heidi Bitsoli and Phil VanHulle for correcting the (numerous) errors that creep into a work of fiction.
If you’re interested in my future works, follow me on Facebook, Twitter or join my mailing list. I do not believe in spam. I only announce new releases or free promotions.
This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events and incidents are either the products of the author’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.
