The Cottage of New Beginnings
Page 25
Her smile was delighted as she looked at him. ‘I’d love that.’ She glanced down at her hand. The oversized ring looked a little strange on her finger, but it felt so right, and she couldn’t ever remember feeling so certain about anything before. Thorndale had been the means of giving them both so much, but Annie knew it was more than that. She felt they had been blessed, and knew her life had taken a quite different turn, and that theirs together was only just beginning.
Acknowledgements
So many people have encouraged me in my writing and this book would probably only exist in a ring binder without the support they’ve given me, and I’d like to thank them all.
The best step I took on my writing journey was to join the outstanding organisation that is the Romantic Novelists Association. Thank you to all who work so hard to enable the association to offer all it does, especially for new writers finding their way and the welcome that is offered to all. The New Writers Scheme is an amazing opportunity and I was thrilled to be a part of it.
Thank you to Susan Yearwood and Emily Bedford for believing in my writing and giving me this first professional opportunity. It has been a pleasure to work with you both and find ways to keep on improving.
I’d like to highlight the fantastic work of the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association and their amazing skills and dedication in coming to the aid of those around them. I very much appreciated the help they gave me and any mistakes in procedures are my own.
To my first brilliant beta readers, Joanna, Nicky, Jen and Becca, thank you, sorry about the size of the file! My fabulous mum and dad, Irene and Barry, respectively publicist extraordinaire and chef of all things delicious, and my lovely sister Deb, thank you for all your love and support over the years, as well as that very first typewriter. My mother-in-law, Irene, who constantly cheers me on and reads everything first, thank you for your prayers and always believing in me. Now you can download me on your Kindle!
The late Pat Howard and Mary Eccles were sisters, avid readers and the first people ever to read my writing. I didn’t meet them until later but their encouragement and words to me, via text messages at the time, made me believe I might actually be a writer, something I’d dreamt of since I was little. I wish that they, too, were able to download this book and I hope they knew what a difference they made when I was starting out.
To my husband Stewart, my real-life romantic inspiration, and our wonderful son Fin, having your love and support means everything to me and you are my world, no matter how often I’m dreaming up another one. For all the times I disappear to write for a bit and come back hours later to find a meal made and the chores done, thank you. For the technical support, thoughtful gifts and always stepping in when I’m immersed in other people’s lives, thank you. I love you both very much.
