Commodity Page 31

by Shay Savage

People always ask me where I get my book ideas, and I don’t usually have a straight answer. Commodity was sparked by a single event that took place in early September, and I couldn’t get the scene out of my head. I was walking with a friend late at night, and he suddenly grabbed me and pulled me over to the other side of him as we walked between a group of guys. Afterward, he said he’d done it because he’d determined that there was a certain level of threat from the group and needed me on that side of him so he could take out the most threatening person first.

Nothing actually happened, but his quick thinking and understanding of a potentially dangerous situation intrigued me, and I couldn’t get it out of my head. We talked more about his experience as a bodyguard, and Commodity is the result.

How does alien invasion fit into all that?

  Hell if I know.

  Artistic license!

Until next time – keep on reading!

  About the Author

Shay Savage lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her family and a variety of household pets. She is an accomplished public speaker and holds the rank of Distinguished Toastmaster from Toastmasters International. When not writing, she enjoys spending her weekends off-roading in her bright yellow jeep, watching science fiction movies, masquerading as a zombie, and participating as a HUGE Star Wars fan and member of the 501st Legion of Stormtroopers. When the geek fun runs out, she also loves soccer in any and all forms - especially the Columbus Crew, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich. Savage holds a degree in psychology, and she brings a lot of that knowledge into the characters within her stories.
