“Fort Salvos,” she made for the door and snatched it open, running down the hall…
And there she was, already sprinting Danica’s way. Warfell jogged to a stop and dropped to her knees as British flew into her arms.
“Gods Danica I missed you, tell me you’re alright.” British whispered through the platinum strands.
“He killed us partner—he killed Brey over there. Why did he have to do that? There is no reason…”
“I’m here Danica.”
“NO REASON,” Warfell’s voice groaned then stopped, realizing what British said. She pushed her back, holding her at arm’s length, searching those deep brown eyes for a glimpse of her friend from another world.
“I’m here Danica, right here, and I’m not leaving.”
What a price to pay, Warfell thought as she hugged little British for dear life. Damn the Gods of Goodness—every last one.
The Aequitas Caelum hovered nearby watching and listening, invisible to the Swordsman and his Daughter with his ethereal head low.
Please forgive me.
