Wrench: A Steele Riders MC Novel Page 4

by Steele, C. M.

“I don’t want that piece of shit car. I want my niece back?”

“Who is this mysterious woman you’re referring to?”

“Yes, someone said they believe she works at the grocery store, but no one can give me any answers.”

“Have you filed a missing person’s report?” I ask, needing more information.

“She’s too old to file one.” I knew that. Unless the person’s missing and considered in danger they don’t do a report. Leaving on her own free will isn’t a crime.

“Okay, well then if you want the vehicle, I’m sure you can have it towed.”

  “I want my niece.”

“What the fuck do you want me to do?” I bark out, holding Mackenzie a little tight. She rubs my back to calm me down and it works like a motherfucker.

  “Tell me where she is.”

“How the fuck am I supposed to know? I’m a busy man. I’ll be back in an hour at my garage. Don’t be there.”

I hang up on the bastard and turn to Mackenzie. “Dash, tell me is the man after you your uncle?”

“The one in the store, no. He’s his muscle, but the guy on the phone was my uncle.” I run my hand up and down her back. I’m not letting them take her from me—she’s mine. I want to know why they want her so badly.

“He’s at my shop right now, but I’m not going to let him get anywhere near you.”

“Oh God. This is all a mess. I should run again.”

“You’re not going anywhere unless it’s with me.”

“He’s going to find me. You’ll be in danger.” Damn it, I need to get her somewhere safe and then get my answers. The thought of them hurting her runs through my head, making me want to put a bullet in each of them.

“Dash, I’m not going to let him anywhere near you.” We sneak out, and I help her inside my truck, pulling out as soon as I’m in my seat.

“How did he find me?” she says softly to herself.

It’s my fault. Eager to please Mackenzie and not chuck the fucking beater, I led him to her. “To look for the parts needed, my staff pulled the VIN and it registered as stolen.”

“Stolen? I didn’t steal the car,” she exclaims her eyes.

“I didn’t think you did. It was reported two months ago.”

“That bastard. How could he do that?”

“That’s what I said,” I offer. “Did he give you the car?”

“I don’t know how he faked the stolen thing. I bought the car out of a dealership when I turned eighteen. I was still waiting on the title when I ran away. How can he report my car stolen? It’s in my name.”

“It’s not. It’s in his name, but I’m betting he forged a transfer of title. I’m going to take you to my house for now and then we can figure it all out.”

  “What if he’s there?”

“He won’t be.” Just then my phone rings. It’s Law. “Hey, what’s up, Law?”

“There is a stupid rich prick, claiming you stole his car.”

“Oh so he left my garage.”

“No, Flex called me over to deal with this guy.”

“The broken down car was towed to the garage.”

“Yeah. Do you want me to arrest him for damage?”

“Damage?” I’m really going to make him suffer before I kill him. I’ve watched as the crew has dealt with their enemies. Hell, I’ve had my own fair share in the action, but this is personal. My poor little Dash has been running scared and now her son of a bitch uncle attacks my shop.

“Yeah, Flex called. He kicked your motorcycle.” I’m seeing red. He damaged my two babies. My woman and my bike.

“Book his ass. I’ll be down there soon.” I hang up.

  “Where are we going?”

“I’m going to the police station, you on the other hand are going to be placed under protection.” I drive straight to the clubhouse. The prospects open for me. I see Blade’s bike inside. So I park and take her hand, bringing it to my lips. “No one’s going to come here unless they have a death wish.”

“This is a lot of trouble just because your mom wants us together.”

“Mackenzie, you have to know that my mother has nothing to do with this. You’re mine. You were mine the second I laid my eyes on you. I just had to make you see. Then your roommate let it slip that you made yourself come with my name on your lips. Nothing can separate us, you understand?”

“Yes, Simon.” I want to pull her over the console, but I remember that we’re still in danger.

“Let’s get inside, baby. I have a lot to do, but I’ll have your uncle and his minion out of our hair before the night’s over.”

As I step out, Blade comes outside. “What’s up, bro?”

“I’ve got a small problem I’ve got to deal with, but I need my woman protected.”

“For sure,” he nods. I open the door and help Mackenzie out of the SUV.

“Hello, Mac,” Blade greets her with a smile.

  “Hi, how’s Roxie?”

“My sister’s great. So you and Wrench? I didn’t see that one. I didn’t know you knew each other.”

“I didn’t know you two are acquainted,” I growl. Jealousy invades my soul.

“I shop at the grocery store too, you know?” Blade says.

“Oh so it’s only me you hide from?”

“You’re the only one I’m attracted to.”

I cup her ass, causing her to squeak and then I lean down. “That’s a good answer.”

  “I’m offended,” Blade huffs.

“Good,” I mutter, dragging Mackenzie into my arms and crushing my mouth down on hers. It’s our first kiss, and it should have more finesse, but I have to show her that she’s mine. I tug on her hair, tilting her head upward to slide my tongue inside. She moans in my mouth, her hands clinging to my shirt and her core rubs against my bulge.

“Fuck, can you two take that inside?” We pull back from each other and her eyes are full of need. “Although you know the rules. No fucking inside.”

“Are you serious?” She turns and scowls at Blade which makes me laugh.

“There’s no fucking inside there. It’s one of the big rules Boomer has always had. It’s for the women that become our family.”

“Oh wow. I figured you had parties and orgies and stuff.”

“I won’t share you with anyone,” I warn her.

“Damn. Another one bites the dust.”

“Gladly. Now go inside with Blade. I’ll be back in a bit. I don’t want your fucking asshole uncle to think he can get away with this shit.”

“Don’t worry. I won’t let anything happen to her.”

“I know I can trust you.” I give Blade a look, knowing he understands what I mean.

“Damn right. By the way, my sister’s coming in a week or two. Martin will do anything to make her happy.”

“That’s great. You know Roxie as well?” I ask Mackenzie.

“Yes. She’s amazingly awesome.” My phone rings, and I know I’ve got to get going.

“I’ll be back soon.” I kiss her quickly and walk back to my SUV.

  “What’s up, Cyber?”

“I got that information for you. He’s a crooked used car salesman. He owns several lots.”

“Really? That would explain how he got the title changed. He’s probably got a notary on his payroll.”

“Yeah, he’s got a couple crooks on his payroll. Many of them are ex-cons, including John ‘Johnny Boy’ Harding. He’s a reputed muscle for hire. That’s all I got so far, but I’m looking. This fucker is corrupt.”

“Well he’s in town with his goon and my woman is terrified.”

“We can make a plan, but if we get him out of town that would be the better.”

“He’s currently locked up at the station. Fucker kicked my bike down.”

  “That’s a capital offense.”

“Damn right. I’m going to deal with that. Keep eyes on the cameras and try to find Harding.”

“Will do. I’ll send a messag
e to Boomer. He needs to be abreast of everything going on.”

“Go ahead, but I’m letting Watson go back to Dallas because I’m not interested in the drama. We have too much shit going down at the moment.”

“That we do.” I end the call and pull up to the station. The second I pop out of my ride, Law comes out to meet me. “How’s it going?”

“His associate is already calling his lawyers.”

“Good. That’s what he needs to do. He falsified a report because he wants his niece back.”

“Just so you know, I can record his ass, so if you get him to talk that’ll be for our benefit.” The jail’s small considering we don’t need a large facility. It has one large holding cell and the desks outside of it.

“Come on in, Mr. West.” I see the brute on the side who is pretty large, but not as big as Beast or Blade. He gives me a dirty look.

“Thanks, Sheriff. So where is the guy who fucked up my property?” The asshole in question stands there, glaring at me. I toss him a wink. “You know damn well how much that bike means to me.”

“Not as much as my niece. I want her back,” he roars through the bars.

“I wasn’t talking to you, you fucking prick. What’s with your niece? Are you some creep who has a thing for his underage family? That’s disgusting.”

“Shut up. She’s supposed to be married to someone else.”

“Wow, so you sold off your niece like cattle and now, you can’t pay up because she fled. That’s interesting.”

“What’s it going to take for you to let these charges go and find my niece?”

  “A million dollars,” I say.

“Are you fucking nuts? She’s not worth that and neither is that damn bike.”

“I know you’re not going to pay that, and I’m sure as hell never going to do either of those things.”

“If you have her, we’ll get her.”

“If you try to come after her, I have a fuck load of lead with your name on it. If she wants to go back home to be sold, she’ll go. I’ve got nothing to do with that. Although, I can’t imagine for the life of me why she’d want that though. I have to ask, since she’s been missing for eight months, how come it took you so long to get the stolen vehicle report out?”

  “Bureaucratic red tape.”

  “So forging titles takes time?”

“No, I had to wait for the original to come in, you asshole.” God, could you give it up any easier?

“Law, are we good?” I question, smiling because he’s recording everything.

  “Perfect.”

“All I need you to do is read over this report and then sign here.” I read through the report, stealing glances at the thug in the corner who is a little too foolish for his own good. I’ll drop him so quickly he won’t know what happened.

“Where is my lawyer, you backward ass hick?”

“How the fuck am I supposed to know?” Law tells him, shrugging. “This bastard is from Texas like us and has a lot of nerve calling me a hick.”

“He’s on his way, Mr. Watson,” Harding says.

“Good. Now, excuse me. I’m going back to work. I still have three cars to work on and not the one you stole either, Mr. Watson.”

“You know where my niece is and I’m going to find out.”

“I’ve warned you already. You’re messing with the wrong man. Keep it up and I’m going to find out why she ran away and have her file charges on your ass as well. One of the local district attorneys is my friend.”

I walk out without another word because every minute needling this motherfucker is precious minutes away from Mackenzie.

  Chapter 6

  Mackenzie

Waiting for Simon to return seems like an eternity. I miss him more than I should considering I’ve spent the last eight months avoiding him like the plague, but now that we have met, I can’t get enough. Our first kiss sent me over the edge, and I tried to climb him like a damn tree, rubbing against his stiffened branch for relief.

“He’ll be back soon. There’s probably paperwork for him to do,” Blade says, standing behind the bar with his eyes on me. I like him. He’s always been polite even when his sister worked his nerves at the store.

Stopping my crazy behavior, I apologize. “I’m sorry I’m pacing. I’m acting like a silly fool.”

“Do you want a coke? We have Pepsi or Coke.”

I walk up to the bar and sit down on the stools. This place is nice. Now that I’m sitting down and not freaking out, I can take in the atmosphere of the Steele Riders clubhouse. It’s a massive open floor space with a bar and chill spot with at least a sixty-inch flat screen on the wall. “I’ll take a Pepsi although I don’t think I truly need the caffeine. I’m ready to bounce off walls right now.”

He chuckles and grabs a soda, “I can see. I’ll put on the television if you like. Or we can go shoot pool.”

“I’m just going to sit over there.” I stand up and go plop down on the most enormous, most comfortable sofa ever and twirl the phone Simon gave me in my hand. Blade comes over with the soda and takes a seat in the chair across from me.

“So you were here to babysit?” I question, wondering if that’s his usual task. I know there are a lot of female Rider women. Several of the Riders got married plus all of the sisters.

“No, I came to drop off some new toys for the guys when I saw you all come through the gates. I’m leaving town for a few days, so I want to make sure everything’s good before I go.” New toys? They call him Blade for a reason. He’s an expert bladesmith. The man is scary unless you know him well.

“Where are you going?” I ask with a bit of curiosity and to make conversation. Blade never says much. He’s a “don’t speak unless spoken to” kind of guy.

“To do something I should have done a long time ago.” There’s a look of determination in his eyes that intrigues me.

“You’re not going to tell me?” Damn it, now I really want to know.

“No. It’s too personal, but you will all see very soon.” He stands and walks away, thrusting his hands into his hair. Personal, eh? I wonder if it’s a woman.

“Well, I hope it works out for you,” I offer.

  “Thanks, Mac.”

I set the soda between my legs and fix my ponytail. “So when is your sister coming?”

“In a week or two. We haven’t finalized the time frame yet.” I’m betting it has to do with how his trip goes.

“It will be good to see her. I haven’t met her husband yet, but I’ve seen pictures of the man. Way to go, Roxie.”

“He’s a great guy and good looking I suppose.” I’m hoping that I see them when they visit.

The door opens, and I turn my head to see Simon coming through the door unscathed. I jump off the sofa, nearly sending my soda flying. I pick it up and set in on the table before I take off in a run straight into Simon’s arms. “You’re back.”

He smiles and wraps me up tight, holding me like it’s for the last time. “Of course I am. I told you I would. No one can keep me away from you, Dash. Now let’s go home so I can take care of that other issue you’re having.” He wags his brows and I blush. He’s talking about my pussy. I want to kick and kiss Sarah at the same time. She outed me and I’m glad for it. My clit needs his touch to be satisfied.

“Have fun,” Blade calls out with a grin on his face. Suddenly, I’m scooped up and Simon’s carrying me out of the clubhouse.

I let out a giggle before he sets me down on my feet. “Ready to go, Dash.”

“I’ve been ready,” I say as he helps me into the truck. He buckles me in and grazes my breast in the process. An involuntary moan escapes my lips.

“Oh, you mean right here?” he asks, cupping my pussy through my capris. I nod. “Good.”

“Fuck,” I moan. Intense pleasure simmers where his hand massages my heat over my clothes.

“Give me your mouth. I’m going to make you come right now and I don’t want anyone to hear you.” I tilt my head up an
d he snatches my lips while his hand slides under my capris and panties. His fingers sliding over my wet core, one dipping into my folds. I roll my hips forward, but I’m trapped by the seat belt. I can feel the smile spread across his face, knowing he has me just where he wants me and where I want to be. He cups my breast with his other hand and pinches my nipple as he kisses me and works my pussy creating a trifecta of emotion, sending me shaking and coming hard. He devours the sounds of my orgasm with his mouth on mine.

He pulls away just enough to rest his forehead on mine, trying to catch his breath. “You are too fucking sexy.” He slips his fingers out and brings them to his mouth, sucking off my juices. I gasp, then he kisses me. “You taste too fucking good.”

He lets go and closes the door while I try to control the lustful need to be all over this man. Once he hops in on the other side, he’s staring straight at me. “Next time you come it’s going to be on my tongue. Understood?”

“Yes,” I squeak out. He nods and drives away from the clubhouse.

“Talk to me, Dash. Are you scared, hungry…horny?” he questions, smirking on the last one.

“All three, but I’m curious. Do you normally finger bang chicks in the parking lot?”

“First that’s crude. I didn’t finger bang you. I pleased my woman. And for the record I don’t fuck with anyone in town. You don’t have to worry about that. It’s been a long time since I’ve been with anyone period and not in Steeleville. Boomer would probably frown upon what I did out there, but he never said I couldn’t. Anything else you’re curious about?”

  “What happened with my uncle?”

He sighs and explains, and one thing stands out to me. Simon let it slip that he might know where I am.

“So he’s sure I’m with you then?”

“Probably or that I know where you’re at. I’m sorry. I lost my temper the more he spoke.”

I press my hand on his forearm and then slide my hand into his. He laces our fingers together. “It’s fine. If he knows I’m in town then he won’t stop looking for me.”

“Mackenzie, I promise I won’t let him hurt you.”
